About Bocca Di Bacco (Chelsea - 20th St.)
Bocca Di Bacco is a New York City Restaurant Group establishment from dynamic restaurateur and New York native Robert Malta, who owns nearly a dozen restaurants throughout the city. “I’ve been in the business 25 years,” Malta says. “I opened the first Bocca Di Bacco in Hell’s Kitchen in 2007 and it quickly became a neighborhood favorite. The Chelsea location is an evolution of what we’ve been offering. There are new menu items, and a more refined look and feel, but it’s still a great spot for the neighborhood any night of the week.”

Bocca Di Bacco (Chelsea - 20th St.) Ratings and Reviews
We went to this restaurant pre-theatre. It was a very cold night and we were seated by the window. The staff was very nice and moved us to a warmer location when we asked. Two of the four of us felt that our pasta dishes were lacking in flavor and we added salt to make up for it. One person liked her pasta. No one was really super impressed but neither was it a bad experience. Will probably not return because it was not special in any particular way. The prices were reasonable.
Warm, cozy and inviting. This place served great Italian food with a nice flair. It had great variations on classic dishes. The squid ink pasta was amazing as was the Sea bass which was perfectly prepared. Very reasonable pricing given the quality of the food and the location. Three of us ate extremely well (appetizers, Entree, salads , bottle of wine, espresso etc.) and came in right around $ 200.
If you are looking for non traditional Italian fare with excellent service and a very fare price this is excellent.
Our experience was marred by the fact that my date had allergies which she clearly communicated to both staff and the manager. The food was delivered with ingredients that she was clearly allergic to and told the staff same. That wasn't good. She was upset. And me, paying for it, was upset. They offered a free dessert but after delivering food that made my date sick, it should have been delivered for free. This restaurant is a PASS
Came here with a friend for dinner on Sunday night. We were greeted by the hostess who was very friendly a seated us on the booth couch. Our server Denice was very friendly and was very helpful when it came to guiding us through the menu. The addition of the specials menu was also a nice touch. I ordered the special Sea Bass which was beyond delicious and very well presented, just perfect! My friend ordered the Caprese salad (which we shared) and then the Fusili pasta dish. Both were excellent and it was nice to have something that reminded me of great comfort food. Overall we had a really nice experience and would definitely come back. Music was great and the ambiance was cozy.
We met friends who were visiting from DC for an early Sunday brunch. We all had a GR8 time...the service was excellent, everyone really enjoyed their meals and the prices very reasonable. We drove our car from the UES and had no problem getting parking on the street. Definitely will return to this restaurant!
I passed the restaurant on two occasions and thought I should try it one time.
We had dinner with our friends. I had a great salad bresaola with pear. We shared a Calamari fritti which was very crispy.
We all ordered a pasta and these were excellent. I looked over at another table and noticed a yummy huge steak that smelled great. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was cosy and relaxed. We really liked the pricing of the menu, very reasonable. I think you get great value for your money. I will definitly go back!
I told other friend to try this place too.
Only so-so. We were seated quickly. Waiter was polite but pretty inattentive. The wine was only okay, was pretty weak. The bruschetta was delicious, but the main entrees were only okay. Mine just tasted like normal pasta you could get from a diner with some delicious bacon in it. My partner hated his dish. We paid with a voucher and cash to cover the difference, but the manager on duty didn't give us our change? We told the waiter that his tip was the with the check, but the lack of acknowledgement was really weird. Wouldn't come back here.
I can't begin to tell you how great this location of Bocca di Bacco is. Not only are they not as busy as the other ones, but the staff is extremely accomodating and helpful. They bend over backwards to accomodate you when something goes wrong and they are very friendly in their service as well. Your water never fully goes down, they are constantly checking if everything is alright and are always nearby. They explain the menu at your request and the waiter we had seemed very knowledgeable. Brunch here is amazing. We ran the gamut of ordering pastas to chicken dishes to paninis to eggs and bacon. They were all awesome and tastes great that I even ordered an extra dish on top of what I had already had, all because I wanted to keep trying the menu. Their pitcher of drinks is also great if you're with a group, as it satisfies the need of all without ordering individual drinks. I can't wait to go back to try their dinner drinks.
They started closing early, even though our party and another one were still eating. We asked for a last round of drinks before the check and were told that the bar was closed. We asked why no one said anything about last call, and they said, "Sorry." We will never go there again.
While the food ordered was good, We were very disappointed in the unavailability of certain dishes. You would think that for an early (7PM) dinner, they would not have run out of at least three main entrees and four desserts (that we had asked for). The waitress informed us that they had a heavy Thursday night, but this was Saturday. There is no excuse for this.
Eat here many times, always hoping the service will get better. Never does. You can sit forever waiting for water. We were waiting for one of our party, and our waiter did not come to us for a drink order "because he was waiting for the other diner". Not his call!! Waited again after plates had been cleared. Finally asked for dessert menu. It was not crowded!! No excuse.
