Bobby Van's Steakhouse - 809 15th Street NW
The food and service was awesome!. The portions are definitely shareable.
Wonderful experience as usual. Three pound lobsters were amazing. Rod, our server, is excellent.
Great food, service was outstanding, would highly recommend this place if you are in the DC area.
The food was fantastic. The Chilean Sea Bass was out of this world.
Great food. Wish the waiter told us about the kids menu prior to instead of after we finished eating
Atmosphere was wonderful. Our waiter was excellent. Definitely will be back.
Delicious and attentive service. I'll return again
Absolutely terrific first experience at a Bobby Van’s Restaurant. The service at the 15th Street Restaurant was impeccable. We couldn’t have chosen a better venue to celebrate our 17th Wedding Anniversary. Will absolutely be returning.
It was beautiful great food
They had a fixed menu of only 2 choices. We were not informed whe the reservation was done
The atmosphere was very pleasant and the food was delicious! Serves were courteous, attentive, and knowledgeable. The food was delicious and M-L portion sizes (porterhouse) was exceptionally delightful! Would come again!
The steaks were great, but the sides could have been a bit better. The price is a bit high. Service was ok, but could alsi have been improved with more attentive waiters keeping drinks filled and not rushing from table to table.
Food was really good. Our waiter Tom was excellent!
Dined here with my wife on Valentines day and they had a set menu for the night. That didn't bother me as the selection was well rounded. I ordered the filet med rare and it came out scorched on the outside, absolutely charred and the center was almost raw. I grill enough steaks to know that this typically means that the steak was frozen and not completely thawed prior to grilling. Every bite had a horrible burnt taste to it. I didn't want to send it back because that would mean my wife would be eating by herself so I just ate it; so to be fair, I didn't give them a chance to make it right. After our meal, we wanted some decaf coffee. I'm highly sensitive to caffeine and my wife is pregnant so it's recommended that she avoids caffeine as well. We made it very clear that we wanted decaf and the waiter even made a joke about it when he served it to us, "extra caffeine right?". There is no way to prove it, but I know my body and I'm certain we were served regular coffee. Our experience was not enjoyable all around. I would not recommend it. Did not feel like we were dinning in a restaurant with a $250 bill.
We went on Valentine's day. Food was 4 out of 5. Good steak and even better crab cakes; dessert was average. They sat us way in the back and our waiter disappeared after main course. We will try a different steak house. Little disappointed.
Food was excellent. I am rating service low only because of the valet parking on Valentines night. I had to wait at least 30 mins to get my car out of valet after dinner. I observed another customer on crutches who was brought the wrong car twice. Another customer's receipt ticket was attached to the wrong keys. I was very frustrated with the whole process of dropping off and picking up of my vehicle.
Food was ok. Waiter was slow. Middle of the road experience.
Great food and a fantastic waiter ! Nelson our waiter was terrific! He made a special event more special. He recommended options that were terrific. We will be back because of Nelson!
Everything was great, from the service to the food. Can’t wait to return.
We were underwhelmed with our dinner here. The service was great but the food was just so-so. My husband and I both ordered steaks and they were both overcooked. We felt bad to send them back so we didn't. The sides are very large, the hashbrowns are gigantic and nothing special. The prosciutto mac and cheese is tasty. Overall, there are much better steakhouses in the area and I dont feel like this was nearly worth our $200+ bill.
We come to DC periodically and always eat at Bobby Van’s. The staff is fantastic!! And, you cannot beat the steaks.
Try the crab dip. I think it's a bar item, but it is soooo goooodddd. The crabcakes could have been better, too much seasoning that took away from the essence of a crab cake. The shrimp and grits, very good and a good sizable portion to share or even have as a meal. The chicken parmesan pasta, the best I've ever had. I used a groupon deal. So worth it, and did I mention the crab dip?!?
It was a cold Monday night in DC, and due to the government shut down and the weather forecast, the restaurant seemed slow, as we know it might be. Our Service was excellent! Our server was very attentive, civil and amiable. The entire team was superb, they all worked in tandem with one another, and they were well synchronized in doing their job. The steak was superb, while the garlic(?) mashed potatoes were bland, but the portions were huge. We shared our meals, and still had plenty of lefty overs. Our special treat the bread pudding prepared side table and the port sent out to us because it was my birthday, ended the evening on a high note. They made it extra special, and we will be back for the prime rib sandwich, which is only served during lunch at the bar.
We had a great birthday dinner here. Our server, Rod Grigsby was awesome! He was very kind and attentive. Our food was seasoned to perfection and we'll be back!
Their steaks cannot be beat in DC - however they lack top notch service and ambiance is nothing special
Our server Rod was incredible! Best service of my life. Steak melted in my mouth like butter, cooked to perfection!
I had dinner Friday evening, Jan 18. I really was excited about our special dinner at Bobby Van's but it really fell short. My son and I both had steaks, he order NY Strip and I had the filet Oscar style. I couldn't be more disappointed, I expected exceptional taste and the steaks were flavorless, no seasoning, just a piece of cooked meat. The mac n cheese was delicious. Green beans had no flavor just plain, I had to season them at the table with butter, salt & pepper. We didn't touch the baked potato - is was just a plain cooked potato on a plate (it would've been nice to have a baked potato with presentation and flavor - maybe a lightly sea salt coating). It looked liked a microwave potato plopped on a plate. The best of our dinner was dessert, banana pudding flambe.
The service was PERFECT, our waiter was Rod and he really made our night special but the food fell extremely short for the money. We spent well over $200 for the meal. My son even commented "Mom, maybe you should go back there and show them how to cook a steak."
We enjoyed my husband's birthday at the restaurant. Lots of great foods and cheesecake.
Awesome steaks! Service was amazing. Very attentive and quick.
We enjoyed the dining experience very much. The service was excellent and the food outstanding. We will definably return!
The wait staff at BV's is so professional; the food is exquisite; and the ambiance (think New York City, dark-paneled wall and fabulous booths) is delightful. Definitely worth celebrating a special occasion there!
The waiter made a big deal about what a great waiter he was and then basically ignored our table for long periods of time...I had to track him down to place our order and then later to clear our table?!?
This was a nice convenient venue. Staff were quite good. Probably should have ordered steak but didn’t want that much food. Would return.
The restaurant overall, was nice. The ambiance was nice and it was very spacious. The had some good deals and some good special offerings.
This is a fantastic place. Extremely professional. We chose the porterhouse of two and it was as exceptional as the last time we were here one year ago. So unbelievable a must go to!!
Good value for the quality of food, however, the prices are a little steep. I've been here on multiple occasions without disappointment. The steak is always cooked to temp and the side are great as well.
It was nice to finally visit this DC staple. We started off with a bottle of wine, shrimp scampi appetizer and split the surf and turf along with a side of brussel sprouts. I enjoyed my food, however my steak was slightly undercooked and cold in the middle. If you like your steak without the broiled “crisp” effect on the outside then this is for you. Lobster was delicious. Presentation of all the food was great.
New Years eve
Food was delicious and service was excellent. It was a little loud and unfortunately we were sat at a booth all the way in the back by the servers station so definitely not a romantic atmosphere. I would recommend BVs to friends but ask to be seated elsewhere.
