Bobby Van's Steakhouse - DC Ratings and Reviews
We went during restaurant week for a bachelorette party. The service was wonderful and the waiter was very accommodating. However, out of six diners only one person had their filet mignon cooked well. The rest of us had meals that were overcooked and dry. Additionally, there was only 2 pieces of potatoes as the side to the filet. If I'd had to pay full price I would have been felt even worse. Sadly, my expectations were not met foodwise but our service was top notch.
I came here for restaurant week to catch up with friends, the atmosphere the restaurant creates was perfect for that. The only reason I gave the food 4 stars instead of 5 was because my steak was cooked for too long and some pieces were burnt even though I asked for "medium well". I'll probably return and order something different next time.
The service was very good from the time we arrived and our departure. The food was hmmmm "just okay" for most of us. We decided to have our team building meeting for work at this location while taking advantage of restaurant week. While the food was not bad, it was fair.
I’ve had many meals at Bobby Van’s and the experience has always been excellent. Unfortunately, last night was not one of those nights and that’s because the server was extremely inattentive. Server couldn’t even tell us all of the specials and, at one point, was gone for nearly 30-minutes as we waited for our check. I’m assuming this was all just a fluke and I will certainly go back as I’ve never had an experience like that there. But it was disappointing, especially because we had talked it up to our out of town guests.
Very good food and service. I had the prime rib and my wife had the filet mignon. We both enjoyed our meals very much. While the prime rib was good; I would not say it was over the top. The meal did come with a baked potato. Think next time we go back I will go with the filet.
excellent service, very friendly but professional and competent. very good cocktalis. we had a special seafood appetizer...shrimp crab and lobster ($100 for 4). nice shrimp, decent crab but watery lobster claws. typical steakhouse, everything is a la cart. my rib eye ($50+) was mostly fat. what edible portions there were were very good but even for a rib eye which is a fatty cut, this was over the top. overall, very expensive and unless someone's expense account is picking up the tab, not worth it
One of the best steaks I have had with these high end steakhouse chains. You will pay but it was worth the money. The wine list could have a few cheaper options especially what they are charging for the meal. Sometimes u just want a little break.
Bobby Vans, as always, never disappoints. The bone in porterhouse and bone in riveted were expertly cooked to perfection in an awesome preparation - and were off the charts tender and delicious. The wine held its own with the beef and sides and was perfectly paired. Hats off to Joe Smith and evening manager Dave for another superb experience.
One of the few places I have found worth paying the price for. Steaks are always flavorful, tender and juicy and prepared to the requested temperature. Porterhouse for 2 can feed 3-4 (unless you are big eaters) when you add a salad (Harry's is a nice choice to share) and a couple of their ample sides (garlic mashed, mushrooms and onions are our favorites). Patio seating is nice and even on a warm summer night there is shade and always a breeze coming up 15th St. so it is usually very comfortable. Service is top notch. Valet parking ($12) is available at 5pm and street parking starts at 6:30pm. Look for a Groupon to make it a even better value.
We booked reservations and overall we were delighted with the service. The steaks were not so great. We had a medium rare that came out burnt and a medium well that came to us medium rare (even butterflied). The manager helped us and made one steak right and the staff was great with our kids. We met the chef and he also apologized. While I don't expect anything for free, with over $100 in filet mignon, we would have appreciated a bit of credit for the poor preparation.
We simply did not like the steak, flavor was lost due to them being over cooked. Might have simply been a bad day.
Everything else was great and the portions were awesome.
My fiancé an I attended this restaurant on Saturday it was everything we'd hope for. The food, the apostrophe and the servers were right on point. One server even took our pics at the end of the evening. What I did not like about it was how we were seated right behind a group of friends whom were super loud. We heard their entire conversation from the time we arrive and right down til the moment he an I left.
This was a first time going there. I used a Groupon because I wanted to see if it was worthwhile. My food was overcooked and it was lukewarm temperature. I did not complain since I thought my waiter would've double checked to make sure my steak was cooked correctly and he did not. I have had waiters at other places that are less expensive ask me to make sure that my steak is cooked correctly so it was disappointing that at this expensive restaurant our waiter did not do that. The old fashioned drink for $16 is not worth it because it does not taste like an old-fashioned it was very disappointing. And they were not busy at all. The service was ok. My overall experience was not very good and I would definitely not go there again since it is too expensive. There are other restaurants that I can go to that is less expensive and better service.
