Bobby Van's Steakhouse - 809 15th Street NW
Aside from the fact that it's a steakhouse and they are all expensive, I did not find any fault with Bobby Van's. The steak was delicious, and we ordered creamed spinach, which is my undoing -- I cannot resist it!
Since I was visiting with a DC relative whom I don't see very often, I particularly appreciated the quiet. All in all, it was a wonderful experience. How I will feel when the bill comes is another story!
The staff were great and the steak was fantastic.
Celebrated a graduation and the meal and service were excellent! A perfect dining experience. Thank you!
Highly recommend the Ribeye steak at Bobby Van's Steakhouse! 23 oz bone-in Ribeye was well worth the price.
Fabulous food and great service made for a fun evening
My husband and I had a wonderful evening at Booby Vans. The outside seating was perfect with beautiful weather in the city. The service was great and we used Groupon for the cost of the meal. My filet and my husband’s ribeye were cooked to perfection.
It’s Always a wonderful dining experience here.....I look forward to returning soon.
This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the city. I love their lunch menu and they always have specials running in places like Groupon that can be used for dinner. The service is always amazing and the food never disappoints. The portion sizes are good and the sides are large enough to share. Great value for the money.
As usual Bobby Vans never disappoints- the icing was on the cake was seeing our favorite waiter, Rod. He is a complete delight and an absolute treasure and one of the main reasons (despite the delicious food) that my mother and I ALWAYS come back to Bobby Vans.
My husband and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary there today it was was nothing short of phenomenal experience The food was amazing the service was impeccable the atmosphere was enjoyable.... definitely suggest to others
Great steaks!! Service was excellent.
We booked a table but when we got there had the choice of outside or in. Even though it was a nice night for outdoor dining we chose inside because it gets quite rowdy outside most night with the drinking crowd. Loved the booth, loved the service - attentive and friendly. I had a petite filet Oscar style and my husband loved his veal chop. Wines were lovely too by the glass. A long relaxing and pleasant evening
On my last visit I was dining alone but not relegated to a back table by the kitchen door, as so many restaurants do for single diners. Michael White was my server and he is marvelous - ask him how you want your steak done. I see on a lot of reviews that people complain about the steak - but don’t ask for medium rare and then complain when it is bloody. My medium steak was cooked to perfection, and Michael accommodated my late to arrive husband and provided very tasty sides for him (he is a vegetarian but loves their French fries and asparagus).
Great Service and Good Food, convenient parking, would definitely go again
Crab cake was incredibly dry and served on a terrible english muffin. Brussel sprouts with bacon and blue cheese should have been called brussel sprout soup, also terrible. My friend had a steak and was told it was also just ok, not worth it though. The only thing good was the bread and that's just because it was warm. I won't be back and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, there are so many better restaurants in DC.
Food quality poor. Service excellent. What a shame paying over $380 and not enjoying the food.
Had a nice meal with the family. Solid place to go.
My husband & I celebrated our wedding Anniversary. We had a fabulous dining experience. The food was amazing the staff was extremely knowledgeable, soo friendly
Bobby Van's was awesome. It was everything you would want in a steakhouse. The waiter was well educated and the staff was very attentive. The steaks came out perfectly cooked and the sides were delicious. My fiancee and I split an NY strip and so they cut the steak in slices for us. The brussel sprouts we're kind of addicting. Looking at the table next to us, the giant ribeye and the filet we're also great choices.
I would highly recommend Bobby Van's to anyone looking for a great steak.
Definitely a great experience. The atmosphere was amazing and I’d go again.
Purchased on a Groupon and we’d never dined here before. Nice location, valet parking for $12. Restaurants ambiance is lovely. Took my husband for his birthday. The food was delicious and the service was perfect. Michael was our server and he was attentive and pleasant. He even brought us a complimentary slice of birthday cake...carrot! Delicious and moist! Would eat here again. Remember to tip on the real price, not your adjusted Groupon price! It is pricey, but comparable to other steakhouses in DC and surrounding area.
Birthday for a relative that needed a good steak.
A classic steakhouse, with truly exceptional steaks, salads, and service. Everything I've had from the menu is good, but the steaks are the star attraction: nice beef, a few inches thick, and cooked perfectly. I've been coming a few times a year for almost ten years. The menu doesn't change very much, but why mess with a good thing? The porterhouse, in particular, is nonpareil. You need two people in order to get it, but if you're there with someone else who likes their steak the same way you do, it is not to be missed.
The ambiance is also really classic: everything's finished in wood, brass, and leather, white tablecloths, the waitstaff wear jackets and are very conscientious, etc. The vibe of the place is very classy mid-century. The background music, can be an odd fit sometimes, but that's the only negative thing I can say about the place.
The host seated us quickly and comfortably. The server, Rod, appeared shortly thereafter. He was very patient and thorough in describing the nights specials. We settled on French Onion Soup, that was served just right, not gooey, but perfectly melted cheese. We split the special appetizer, crab stuffed mushrooms. They were the best I have ever had. I had the scallops as my entree, they were broiled with a nice char not gummy, just the right amount of bite. My husband had the rib-eye and it was cooked to a perfect medium, hard to do these days. The rib-eye had a nice char and the meat was very tender. We split a loaded baked potato that we loaded ourselves. The pork belly was delicious. We shared a side of spinach sauteed in EVOO and a few garlic slivers. The ambiance and the professionalism of our server made all the difference in the very enjoyable meal. We look forward to returning!
The steaks were cooked perfectly and the waiter was very attentive and accurate. this place is a gem.
Our waiter, Rodney, was very helpful with lots of guidance about the menu, as well as being courteous and friendly. Great service and the mac and cheese was fantastic.
Whole table had to send steaks back and they were either under or over cooked. Second time around was better but the undercooked steak had simply been reheated, not great
They did comp us each a desert though...
Celebrating daughter birthday
The food was not very good but the prices suggested it should have been better. The steak wasnt on par with Del Friscos or Charlie Palmer but was priced slightly higher.
Excellent service and outstanding food. Great place for a steak.
Bobby Vans always delivers. The food is always great and they know how to provide top notch service. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a steakhouse that is a little different than the others in town.
Wonderful experience all around - relaxing outdoor seating, delicious food, and wonderful service
I had the pleasure of having Rod as my server for the evening. He was nothing short of phenomenal! I’ll be back solely because of him.
The crab soup was watery with very little crab meat; mac/cheese was dry almost over cooked; and our steaks were tough
May be the best steak I have ever had! Great service, wonderful wine list. Not inexpensive but worth every penny.
I try to dine at Bobby Van's every time I am in DC
Bobby Vans' has a great location and the ambiance is nice. Food is good. Service good. Waters quite attentive.
great steak house, the porterhouse steak was outstanding
We had reservations for our anniversary dinner. I called to let them know we were stuck in traffic and would be a little late.
Turned out to be no problem, the host wished us happy anniversary as he sat us.
The waiter however, never introduced himself, never mentioned our anniversary, and we felt rushed to order.
Service was fast, and we didn't have to wait long for anything. But it was impersonal and abrupt. Even the girl who assisted the waiter, while efficient would startle us because she showed up and moved so quickly.
Other than that the food was delicious and we liked the restaurant.
Bobby Van's on 15th is indeed the best steakhouse in DC as the various awards indicate...and the thing that sets it apart is the impeccable customer service. These folks are pros...and they make the dining experience memorable.
