Bobby Van's Steakhouse - Broad Street Ratings and Reviews
Good place, great food. Saw a couple celebrities while dining here. The wait staff seemed attentive to some tables more than others (ours being in that latter category). It wasn't horrible service, but for a restaurant with not a lot of patrons on a Friday night spending the kind of money we spent, you would expect to get a little more treatment.
Food was exceptional as always, but some terrible communication gaffes between the manager and our waiter left us without service for large stretches of the dinner.
Steak can't be beat and seafood appetizer are well worth the price tag, but the service will have me looking at MarkJoseph or Delmonico's before I reconsider Bobby Van's.
Lunch - My wife had the petit filet with french fries, creamed spinach and side of bernaise. Fantastic meal--beaf was perfectly cooked with the right balance of good old fashioned seasoning. The char on the steak was sooo good! A little pricey but what can you expect for the financial district. I had the 12 oz. burger with fries and onion rings. Once again, the meat was perfectly cooked with a great char. While I ordered medium, it was still juicy and the taste was absolutely fantastic. The fried onion rings were a little too greasy. Servers were very attentive without being overbearing. As with other visits I've had at BV's, great experience!
Food and service were execellent. We each had steak which was cooked exactly to order and portions of sides were more than adequate. We were there early on a Sat; so not very crowded--can't say how service would be at a busier time. Very good wne list ( had and excellent Cabernet). Cheesecake for desert was sublime. Not cheap but about right for Manhattan. Certainly would return.
Sirloin steak and petite filets were all excellent, as were several desserts. I found chicken chipotle soup surprisingly bland. Service was also a little curious getting started - almost had to flag someone down, but then fine after that. I'd go back but would stay with the classics.
I had always wanted to try Bobby Van's & it did not disappoint. The service was wonderful, each waiter, busboy & even Host were friendly and eager to accomodate. I loved this restaurant to the point that I dined with coworkers & friends 3x during restaurant week & once for a work celebration at my suggestion. I along with my friends were addicted to the steaksandwich, lobster raviolis, filet mignon & the finishing touch, their very airy chocolaty mousse. I'm finding it hard to eat beef anywhere else without thinking back at how Bobby Van's melted in my mouth! Will definitely be back!
Took a colleague out to lunch for Restaurant Week and had a delightful experience with the food -- food was top notch and fabulous! Service was slow to take our order and slow to give us our check. Overall, it was a very good experience and I'll be back as I work on Wall St.
The BEST steak and cheesecake I have ever eaten. Wonderful dining experience.
My boyfriend brought me here for a late-night (9pm) dinner for my birthday. Even though we ordered off the Restaurant Week menu, they were very cordial with the service and even gave me a special cheesecake, complete with candle, in addition to our two desserts.
Definitely returning soon.
Went for lunch with some clients. Grill room downstairs is very cool. We sat in what used to be a vault, and you see all of the old safe deposit boxes lining the walls.
Food is good, but they can do a better job explaining their definition of cooking temperatures.
Make sure you tell them how you want it instead of relying on the standard scale. It seems some steakhouses prefer to err on the side of undercooking, and this is one of them. A couple of people ordered their steaks medium rare, and got rare at best.
The Restaurant is a real gem. Every restaurant week a group from work tries different restaurants. Everyone agreed this was the best to date. The food and the portions were large compared with others and very tasty. We went on a Friday night and the wine list was 1/2 price. A large selection at reasonable prices. My only complaint was that the waitress forgot to deduct the discount on the wine so we had to send the bill back to be adjusted.
The atmosphere if dining in an old bank vault was unique. The course selection was excellent and everything tasted wonderful. The service was exemplary and impressive. The servers where there before you knew you needed them. I would recommend this restaurant highly.
The food was okay. The service was okay. I wasn't too impressed overall. The presentation of each dish was terrible. I'm almost certain the vanilla gelato was actually just 2 scoops of Breyer's vanilla bean ice cream. I wouldn't go back to this restaurant. It just didn't leave much of an impression on me.
Our visit lived up to expectations. The filet was tender enough to almost cut with a fork and prepared to perfection. The sides were very good as well. The service was exceptional, even during restaurant week. We'll definitely be going back and highly recommend it to anyone longing for a fine steak.
We had a great time, but in all honesty the food was mediocre. My boyfriend and I both had the filet mignon and agreed we have had better. I feel like this might have had something to do with the fact that we were there for the restaurant week prix fixe menu since I have heard great reviews from trusted foodies. The Caesar salad and cheesecake were delicious, but those are hard to mess up, it was the steak we were there for. Still, a fun experience considering we only paid 35 dollars each not including tax, drinks, gratuity.
