Bobby Van's Steakhouse - 54th Street
Outstanding. The house specialty, Porterhouse, was the best we have ever experienced. Our server, Daniel, didn’t hover, but, was there when we needed him. Spectacular wine selection. We recommend the” Prisoner” red blend.
Great service and food. All enjoyed
Great menu, delicious food and attentive service. An overall wonderful evening.
Service was excellent, food was very good but the drink prices were through the roof. Also the suggested tip amounts were based on the total bill including sales taxes. Their calculation should be modified to exclude sales taxes
Thank you for visiting us here at Bobby Vans. I apologize about your impression of high drink prices. The reason, is due to our much heavier pours than most restaurants. We offer 10oz martini's of pure vodka (vs 6oz), plus, 2.5 ounce pours in mixed drinks (vs 1.5), and the quality of our house wines are substantially better than most restaurants house wines, with similar costs. On the side, I'm glad you enjoyed everything else and I will revise the suggested gratuities. Hope to see you again
Great place, delicious food and amazing service. Will stop by again on my next visit.
Food and service were impeccable. Always a great meal and experience.
Great and attentive staff. Food is amazing quality and perfectly prepared. Great atmosphere. Bartender's are excellent.
Terrific food and service. Our server was very professional, pleasant, and attentive. The food was delicious, fresh, and well prepared. We had food allergies and the staff was careful to keep things separate. Great experience.
I have been dining at Bobby Van’s for many years and for the first time was disappointed with the experience. The steak was over cooked and somewhat cool. The expresso machine was not working and instead I was served regular coffee at room temperature. I am a fan, but not this time.
As always great service and great food. Danny and team did a wonderful job.
Bridal shower dinner
Poor value for the $$$. Portion size for lunch entree was small relative to the $25 price.
I love this place and entertain there and order out from there regularly with terrific results so I hate to rain on the parade but something is wrong.
Air conditioning wasn't up to par and we were sitting under the air conditioner! Ordered a bottle of wine which took forever. When I waived them down in frustration they came over to tell me they didn't have it and I needed to pick another one...no apology...no offer to supply a better bottle at the same price. Just left me the list again. Picked their recommendation as a replacement. The cork crumbled when the waiter opened it. It was clearly dry. It hadn't been stored properly. When the waiter poured it the color was clearly brown. The waiter knew it and as soon as I tried it i knew it was bad and it was returned. I left the table in frustration to find the manager . Again he offered another more expensive wine which I just went with and ordered a cocktail. The wine was slow coming so I waived down the waiter again and he hustled it over. The wine was fine but warm...certainly not cellar temperature and after I tasted it we needed to chill it a bit...and yes it was a cab blend which should be room temperature or perhaps a little cooler. This was warm.
The food arrived slowly adding to the embarrassment but still before the wine which added to the awkwardness.
To be fair, the waiter tried very hard and was embarrassed and they did buy my cocktail. The steak was excellent. But all restaurant experiences are about two things, food and hospitality. A heartfelt apology to the whole table and/ or taking the bottle off the tab or comping some of the meals and maybe an offer to come back with some special deal to try again would have been my expectation.
Bad night? B team? too busy? Not sure. I hope it was a fluke but I would be nervous to take guests there again.
Went for lunch, was not told about restaurant week menu until after lunch was finished..... disappointing and seemed as if it was intentional in order to upsell
Best steaks in NYC IMHO. Managers Dan and Josh and their staff make you feel right at home.
We were in NYC for the weekend. This steak house was recommended to us on OpenTable. We had 9:15 pm reservations. When we arrived we were the only people in the restaurant. Not the vibe we were looking for. Big disappointment
Reunion with good friend. Rohan and George (host) treated us like family. Thanks to always a great time!
The Bartenders are not good or Friendly.Probaly Union workers..
Outstanding food..chicken parm was the best. Steak was perfection. A coated ice cream dessert- unique and the perfect end to our meal. Thank you , Sam, for a wonderful dining experience!
Excellent restaurant for business meal. Excellent service
A perfect birthday dinner. The food was OUTSTANDING!
Completely mediocre. The steak wasn’t anything extraordinary and the sides (broccoli raab and green beans) were over cooked. The service felt overdone and we felt rushed.
It’s really not worth the money - there are many other great steakhouses in NYC better worth your time.
Amazing steakhouse quality. A bit loud in the actual restaurant but staff is extremely accommodating and kind. Food quality is amazing. Porterhouse steak is THE BEST in the city. Or it’s not... I’d rather no one hit up my favorite spot!
Great place for my birthday dinner on our last night in NYC. The T-Bone was really good and my date really like the filet. I highly recommend.
$110 porterhouse for 2 a huge disappointment. Burnt on one end too rare on the other. Must be the JV versions of the original. Have had far better at other locations.
I have eaten at steak houses all over the city and all buroughs. This is my new favorite. The food was amazing-- we had the dry aged porterhouse. But eating is not just about the food it is also about the experience. I brough my parents, in their mid eighties. I felt like the staff were taking care of their own parents. From the maitre'd, to the bus boys, to our fabulous , lovely and patient server. Thank you so much for that.
I cant wait to go back.
I have been going to Bobby Van’s for a number of years. Most consistently outstanding restaurant I go to. They take care of all customers as long-standing regulars. Most restaurants do not. Thank you to everyone that works tirelessly at BV’s for their customers.
We made a reservation on Wednesday prior to Memorial Day weekend. I even called to check if they were open and was advised they were. On Saturday 3 hours prior to reservation I received a call advising they were closed all weekend. This left us out in the cold with no table and many places with no availability. Fortunately we discovered 2 new steak houses and will be making them our first choices, Benjamin Steakhouse Prime and Empire Steakhouse
Had a great meal . Steak was cooked perfect and our waiter was excellent.
The staff was attentive and great. The steak was raw and not very good
Mother’s Day dinner was cooked well.
A fantastic deal for two for a special night out.
Steak was cooked to desired temperature and a generous portion, though a bit salty.
Creamed spinach and mashed potatoes were great compliments.
Caesar salad dressing was memorable and the veal meatballs were tender with a flavorful sauce.
The sorbet and brownie were enjoyable, but not on the same level as the rest of the meal.
Come hungry and leave full of tasty food and more than a fair share of wine
Excellent food and great service for business lunch. Great environment and not too noisy like some steakhouses can get
Always great food and excellent attentive but not overwhelming service
The price is too high for the quality of the food.
We went to enjoy a promo that happens weekend evenings. We went last year for the same promo and enjoyed it very much. When we came last time we enjoyed a bottle of bubbly without additional charge, now they wanted a $10 upcharge. Not an auspicious start. Last year a baked potato was included, this year a $10 upcharge yet again. When the food came (filet mignon and salmon) both were overcooked despite having told the waiter medium rare. Overall, not a great experience.
Love the $125 deal on Friday and Saturday nights at the 54th st location
Nice place, warmly welcomed and seated immediately. Service was good, they were attentive and brought the food out timely. Never ate here before so I wasn’t sure what to expect ambiance wise so it was ok. I recommended it to my colleagues.
Always terrific service and food.
Dan, Josh and Yuri make sure!
Classic NY steak house with great food and service.
