Bobby Van's Park Avenue - 'The Original' Ratings and Reviews
One forgets how good a real steak dinner can be. Porterhouse for 3 is enough to feed 3 and enough left over for 3 large dogs. The oysters-briny and plump. The has brounds, crispy and perfect, The creamed spinach perfect consistency and that iron taste-and the carrot cake-the best going. It can be a bit noisy but it is a steak house. Not cheap-but if you want the quintessential steakhouse experience this is the right place situated in the center of the universe.
The food was overpriced for the portion size and value. We frequent fine steakhouses often and this one was not up to par. Our waiter was rude. When an inquiry was made his response was sarcastic and his demeanor condescending. Overall this was a costly disappointing night out on the town with friends.
The bone in rib eye was just ok, dry even for medium well. There was little to no flavor on the steak. The hash browns were delicious . The sword fish was excellent and my husband enjoyed a delicious veal parmigiana. I would have given a higher rating but I can't get past a steak house being unable to produce a well flavored rib eye.
Bobby Van's is the single best Steak House in NYC - bar none! It is also the best place to entertain for business promoting a place to carry on a discussion uninterrupted by distractions. Service, as always, was excellent and the care and attention to all the foods was perfect in every way.
Outstanding visit. I made a reservation for eight, but some people's plans changed at the last minute. The maitre d' was most accommodating and never made a fuss. While we waited for our missing friends, Tony the bartender made us magnificent cocktails and helped us with the wine list.
Once seated, our only complaint was our waiter was a little difficult to understand, so we kind of took a leap of faith, when after expressing what we liked, he took over the details of the order. He took great care of us.
The food was fantastic, the portions were generous, and it was a fabulous night.
it was awesome! they even let my child get us seated! it was a great dining experience! they were very nice, friendly and helpful! there was like no one there and it was very quiet! i'm glad i chose bobby vans as my place to eat for dinner!
Went for our 25th anniversary - was our second time going and great from start to finish - appetizers to main course we're all fabulous - great service and we were given dessert on the house for our anniversary - special occasion as expensive but worth the visit if in NYC - only been to this Bobby Vann, the original one but classic steakhouse atmosphere -
We were here on New Years Eve and enjoyed ourselves very much. We did not stay so late, from 7.00 pm to about 9:30 pm, so the ambience was "normal" but nice! Our waiter (sorry I didn't note his name) from Croatia, was excellent. It is expensive but, we knew that before we booked it. New York Prices!
Good NY steak - but a bit over priced. family of 5 cost ~$425 - no drinks, no apps. An order of mash potatoes (al la carte) was $15 and barely enough for 2 people. Just because it is a NY steakhouse - they charge NY prices. But not really the value for the money.
Philip is amazing at ensuring your dinning experience is fabulous!
The atmosphere, service, drinks, meat and fish selections are outstanding and prepared to perfection every time.. This is a must do steak house that's family/kid friendly with reasonable prices for such a uppity address... Thank you for the wonderful dinner Monday night.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.. ❤️
Steaks were first class and delicious, and the wine list thoughtful and not extortionate for the quality on offer. The waiters are enthusiastic and helpful despite the crowds and noise. The loud din and too many tables squeezed into the room prevent this from being a 5 star experience.
I joined my daughter and a special friend from out of the country for an early dinner. While the waiter was attentive and service prompt a 3 lb lobster arrived poorly cooked as noted not only by our guest but by the server who removed it half uneaten. While this was upsetting what was most upsetting was the demeaning attitude of the manager who our waiter suggested we speak to....arguing as to the cooking of the lobster and borderline nasty we paid our bill and left. While I do think an adjustment in our bill would have been the right thing to do what was most upsetting was being treated in the manner that this manager treated us....I will never return
