Fantastic steaks, always cooked to perfection. Service best in the city
Always a pleasant experience.
Great venue for business lunch
Knowledgeable staff regarding the drinks and food offered. The server recommended an alternative preparation for my wife's steak so as not to have it dried and still be cooked through. Staff was also very engaging and approachable.
I made the reservation for my boss, who was having a business meeting. They sat them right next to the front door, so they were freezing the entire time. Not a pleasant experience.
We chose this restaurant for a special meal To celebrate my partners 40th on our first trip to New York. On entry our coats were taken. The venue was extremely noisy. We had business deals going on either side of us at full volume (plus aggressive shouting at times), which did somewhat spoil the ambience. It appeared that the entire venue was a business deals paradise.
The service was fabulous, very attentive waiters who explained everything well and made recommendations. The food was lovely. We both had the 8oz petit filet mignon and ordered sides is asparagus and fries. I cannot fault the food or service at all, it really was delicious.
I wouldn’t return here due to the noise, it isn’t the quiet, romantic high end restaurant I was expecting. Also, being new to New York, the coat lady told us we should pay her $4, yet we only had card and she needed cash ..... in the uk high end restaurants, a coat hang is complimentary. I don’t mind paying, but it’s unclear upon entry to the restaurant that this is a requirement. Another grip is no drinks menu. I like to choose a drink and I like to know what I’m paying for it before I choose.
Very expensive restaurant that services amazing food - but lacks the ambience for a romantic meal.
we booked at short notice and got a nice round table which was appreciated. Food was quite good and came quickly. Noise level was however too high and the waiter bordered on pugnacious. And not much to do on the wineline below $100.f
Excellent service. Food was great!!! My friends and I had great time and had a great conversation with the owner about Sag Harbor. Would love to go back again!
Great food. Exceptional service. Everything you would hope from a top shelf steakhouse. It’s my kids’ favorite place to eat.
The food came out cold and overcooked
Excellent steaks, great service, quiet enough for a serious conversation! Awesome
Food was good, service was distant. Our waiter was charmless & seemed annoyed that he had to be there. Not at these prices. Hard to have a conversation without shouting. It’s a “guy” place.
Had a very nice dinner with my wife. The staff was great as was the food.
Took 5 people to a "nice" dinner in NYC. Steak was very good, service was horrific. Our waiter could not have been worse. Will never go back.
Waiter was annoying. Kept pushing on ordering. He struggled with understanding “ we will let you know when we need something “
Awesome steak & lobster. Warm friendly service. Always consistently excellent
When asked for menu help, was pushed to most expensive item.
The food seems to get better every time we come to this fantastic restaurant! The Linguine in the White Clam Sauce is Phenomenal and you Must try the large sea scallops, they are incredible! The service from our waiter Mike Rushiti was fabulous as Always! Thank You!
Bobby Van’s never disappoints. It’s been over 10 years since I was last in nyc, so I was curious to see if their quality was as good as I remember. It was. The lively bar with classic cocktails and homemade potato chips gets your evening off to a great start. The dining staff provides a memorable dining experience with a NYC flair. Our porterhouse for 4 was cooked to perfection and extremely flavorful. Wines are a bit on the pricey side but we settled on a Grgich Hill’s cab at $125 a bottle that went well with our steak.
It was the best steak I’ve had in a long time and the staff were very friendly a little bit pricey but you get what you pay for excellent
As always, great service, wonderful food
Great staff, great food! My client’s favorite place to do business.
Our new favorite restaurant. The staff truly wanted us to be happy and we were. The waiter was 20 feet away to jump if we needed anything. The food tasted great. The servings were large. We had a wonderful dinner and leftovers the next day. We are finding reasons to go back to NYC so to dine at Bobby Vans!
Exactly as you’d expect from a steakhouse: sublime meat fest with great wine to boot! Lovely wait staff - combo of NYC edge and diverse roots. Always makes for good conversation.
As a fan of the classic wedge salad that every steak house used to have as a staple, I was shocked at what Bobby Vans served. Remember those wonderful chunks of blue cheese and lots of pieces of crispy bacon? Not at Bobby Vans. There was however lots of soggy fried onions --- probably to cover up the lack of bacon and the flavorless dressing. I know some places have begun to add tomatoes like Bobby Vans did but what's the point if the tomatoes have no flavor? It's a disgrace to call that a wedge salad.
If you want a good table don’t use open table to do so. I was stuck in very back against wall. Vintage opentable.
Had a lunch salad with shrimp and it was not great - but expensive. I’m sure a steak dinner would be better, but not impressed with lunch.
I felt like changing it up last night and I went with the Scallops and I must admit it was Better then any of the many seafood restaurants I have frequented globally! Additionally the Linguini in White Clam sauce rivaled a lot of Italian eateries in NYC!! Our waiter Mike was spot on as usual! Make sure you try this fabulous spot it’s NOT just for Steaks, but they’re pretty good too!
Fairly empty for a Saturday night. We were in Zuma on the night before (Friday)... and it was ~10x more happening.
Restaurant was very noisy and we were put at a banquette table jammed too tightly between other parties. We asked to be moved and host said impossible because they were so busy but then hostess found us a better spot. If there was a better table why did first host act put out rather than solving the problem? Porterhouse was ok but far from Peter Luger or Palm. Steakhouse sauce is a lousy too sweet copy of Luger sauce.
As always, great sliced porterhouse for 2. Spinach, hash browns and mushrooms. Service is the best!
Always reliable for a good business lunch experience
Took my wife here for her Birthday. The food was excellent; I haven’t had steak this good since we moved from Kansas City. We both enjoyed a bone-in option. I got a very tender and juicy sirloin that had the perfect char, while my wife got a ribeye that was perfectly seasoned. The sides are excellent, especially the mashed potatoes. The wine list was extensive, and the cheese cake was incredibly rich. The server was knowledgeable and friendly, and the atmosphere was precisely what we were looking for. If you can afford to splurge on a pricey evening, I am hard pressed to find a better place to do so at!
The menu is excellent with generous servings. Sole is especially outstanding. Attentive wait staff.
Food was excellent and our waiter Michael suggestions were all on point! Service was spectacular as well! A Must Try!
Exceptional dining experience! One of my Go-to spots on the East Side.
This was our first time at a Bobby Van’s and we approached this with some hesitation. Previous visits to supposedly great NYC steakhouses did not meet our expectations. This location is not busy on a Saturday evening so it’s the perfect time to go. I am just going to get straight to the punchline and say that the food and experience were amazing. Porterhouse was very tasty and cooked perfectly. The Bernaise that accompanied my daughter’s petite fillet mignon was excellent. We ordered 2 sides and our server told us he would give us the half portions and so glad he did that. The full portions would have been humongous. For dessert, the list was pretty enticing but each one just seemed too rich and heavy. So we opted for an order of sorbet - the trio of lemon, raspberry and mango was so refreshing, and an order of the pistachio ice cream. Both sat on top of a chocolate lined waffle “crust”. A great ending to a delicious dinner!
It had been a few years since dining there and we were not disappointed. Just a short way from Grand Central Station, we laughed when we saw construction going on around the restaurant as when we ate there last. We were greeted warmly upon entering and seated quickly. Our waiters Sam and Luis were attentive without being overbearing Our food, my wifes’s crab cakes and my petite filet were both excellent. We were greeted at our table by one of the owners, Rick. He was very pleasant and seemed sincere about our having a good dining experience. We will definitely return
Best steak in NYC, fantastic sides, only downside is it can be so loud you can't have a conversation at your own table
