Bobby Van's Park Avenue - 'The Original'

It was great to see Big Al from the Palm at Bobby Vans!!
Great experience all around!
Birthday celebration but specifically came to visit as last time in nyc we had a brilliant experience there and service was top notch
Steak was ok, but not worth $125 for two people. Ordered a Hendrick's martini, the drink that came had a lesser quality gin in it, and some kind of citrusy aftertaste. An $18 glass of white wine was barely drinkable. Not unusual for places like this to make that kind of switch: their clientele are generally tourists or business travelers with expense accounts, have extra money to burn and don't know any better about fine food or cocktails to notice the difference. This is a pretty standard money mill: $250 for two people for two drinks, a steak, and greasy side orders of fries and brussels sprouts. No coffee or dessert. Staff were pleasant enough, but most of their clothes were greasy and stained, and the place could use a facelift. Zero ambiance. For that kind of money, I could have taken my date to a really world-class restaurant with top-notch culinary creations, service and decor, and still would have had $25-$50 left in my pocket for a cab home.
Best steaks,best service in NYC.
Love the food and the service!
Fabulous evening, incredible steak and great service
We really like eating at his restaurants
If your looking for a top notch steak with great service Get to BV on Park Avenue. The original BV. Ricky Phil and Lenny will treat you like family.
A classic Steakhouse with outstanding service and delicious food, although getting a bit over the top on prices.
Today was the very first time that something wasn’t perfect with my meal and not only did they fix it - they were gracious about the error. Excellent service and attention to detail is hard to find - at Bobby Van’s those gentlemen excel at it.
After taking order and receiving meal we were totally ignored by servers, were not asked if we wanted a desert or another drink. Servers too bothered about the big party that was sat near us. Complained to manager about service who said we had had service because we had been in over an hour and they were busy! Said we could have deserts on the house, server put 2 empty plates in front of us and said we wanted deserts!! We paid for the food that we had and left! All we wanted was good service and great food - not to be at Park Avenue!
One of our long-time favorites in NYC. Impeccable service, outstanding food- worth every cent. Treat yourself!
Great time and service. My friends from out of town loved the food and the experience.
You cannot go wrong with Bobby Vann's. One of my favorite restaurants in NYC. We had a business dinner with 7 people, and the service and food were both outstanding!
We enjoyed our dinner overall, but at least based on this experience, there are better steakhouses in NYC (including Bobby Van's Grill).
Bobby Vans has outstanding food and outstanding service, with personal attention galore. And their desserts are to die for!
Best rib eye in the city
Service was splendid
Great food cooked to perfection
Amazing service by the waiters
Absolutely a fantastic place to Enjoy a perfectly cooked steak.
I understand it is an expensive steakhouse in NYC. However, nothing special about greeting, service felt rushed and not one smile from the waiter, food was OK. I will never go back as the value just isn’t there for what you receive.
Been coming here for years
Never disappointed- the best food and service from the bar and wait staff
Great food and service. We went for lunch and the food was great, food came out quick, and service was great. Definitely would recommend.
The world's best seafood tower!!! Hands down!!
Stopped by for dinner on a trip to NYC to see the PGA Championship at Bethpage. Had to see if Bobby Van's still had it.... and guess what... they did!!
Authentic New York charm and good for business lunches in the area. Everything was tasty.
As always the food was Phenomenal and the service by Mike Rushiti and Dominick was fantastic and the reason I keep coming back! Thank You!
Food, service and ambience always great. It is close to where we live and very convenient to get to.
Drinks - Extra dry Sapphire Martinis came out sweet. Server gladly replaced them but they still had too much vermouth.
Appetizers: Calamari was the highlight of the evening. Portion size definitely smaller almost half of what Bobby Van’s Grill on 50th gives.
Main Course: Bone-in Sirloin was overcooked (almost well done when the ask was medium rare). Server kept saying cut more to see the warm center which eventually he agreed was overcooked. Had to return it. Although I was offered another, I had to turn it down. He even offered to take this off the check and eat the steak that was served - that was disappointing to see he thought I was a freeloader.
Friend shared Lamb Chops which were ok - have had better. Server said they are the best in the city. Pork chop that another friend had was better. Had a bit of that.
After paying the bill, they took drinks away - my friend had gone to the restroom and his unfinished Old Fashioned was taken away. We didn’t bother to ask after a wasted evening.
Pretty disappointed. This HAD been my favorite Bobby Van’s for nearly two decades that I have been visiting - think they need to restore the old glory.
Obviously there are endless options for the business diner for a steakhouse type lunch in midtown. I've been to all of them and you probably have too. What I like about Bobby Van's Park is it's lower key than a lot of other places, I guess the word would be "intimate," sort of, and being slightly hidden the crowd tends to be higher endy discrete business types, few or no tourists, etc. The food is better than the chains and many of the NY places, the service is excellent without being fussy, the menu is simple and they still make Oysters Rockefeller. They have a little problem with people hanging out smoking right outside one side of windows (being glared at by stoners is a bit distracting) but I'm sure they'll figure that out. Pricewise it's the same as all NYC steak places, mildly absurd, but you know what you're in for.
Top notch. One of the best steakhouse experiences in Manhattan.
Solid consistent food. Great business lunch place
Always a solid choice for client or friend lunch or dinner. Service always excellent. Maintains a hint of old world charm with current offerings and attentive service
Exceptional food. You can’t beat the steaks. Service was good but slower.
My $42 salmon was flavorless. My 2 dining companions said same of their lunch.
The staff catered exceptional well to our our dinner experience. The on the bone filet veal parmigiana was cooked perfectly. This is an excellent staff, service and food. A pleasant dinning event.
Bobby Van's , excellent fare and great atmosphere are synonymous. The staff is top notch. Excellent service. Never disappointing.
Came here with my brother-in-law and his sons for his birthday--and we could not have been treated any better than on this evening. As we arrived early on Saturday evening, we had the pick of most of the tables and chose one by the windows looking out onto Park Avenue. Getting here from the suburbs and outer boroughs is easy as Grand Central Terminal and the subways is within walking distance of the restaurant (parking is challenging and expensive). The waitstaff is professional and caring and saw to all our needs. The menu is spectacular, with a variety of meats, seafood and sides; we chose the porterhouse for four with spinach and mashed potatoes and everyone was well fed at the end.
This Bobby Van's Park Avenue knows how to take care of its customers!
Great restaurant in heart of town. Food was delicious and service was awesome. Small size causes a bit of crammed space but all was forgotten with such great food.
food was acceptable but overpriced for the overall experience. if I were still taking clients out and the conversation and the booze was the primary focus i'd be ok with the menu. but there was not the kind of menu I would expect of an upper echelon steak place.
felt like I was not anyone's primary focus but maybe i'm remembering a time long gone. no disrespect to the "original" but its no Ben Bensons
Great food as always
