Bobby Van's Grill Times Square Ratings and Reviews
Disappointing experience. It was fairly late on a Sunday night and the place was empty. Got a nice table and server was nice. Noticed that holiday menu was in place so prices were about $15 higher than menu on website. Wife's steak was ordered medium and came out very medium rare so was sent back. The first 2 of my 5 lamb chops were good but got progressively more rare and the last 2 were basically raw. So as my wife's steak came back my lamb went back. Could have been the 2nd or third string chef on a Sunday night, but overall a disappointing experience at significant cost. Lesson learned.
Great ambiance, food was good but the service was terrible. Waiter was less than enthusiastic to serve, made excuse that his "busboy quite on me so sorry nobody picked up your table". Felt as if I had to apologize for being there. With all of the great steakhouses on or around Times Square, I'd recommend going somewhere else.
We had a reservation but had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. The small bar was full, so we had to stand in the way of the waitstaff since the hostess area was also full. Once we sat down, though, we found the service to be great, and the food delicious. It was fairly noisy, so if you're looking for a quiet evening, this might not be the place for you.
I booked Bobby Vans because I had been the year before, unfortunately i booked the wrong one. The staff were very nice the food was good. They had a party upstairs which was extremely noisey and loud. When asked the waiter about the noise He said we have a party. We could not have a conversation and was off putting eating in that environment we could not wait to leave, and we were not the only ones. I could not see why the manager did not ask them to consider other diners as it was very busy downstairs . I would not recommend this restaurant if they have a party going on. It is not A cheap restaurant and I would have expected the Manager to be a bit more considerate to other diners and not just how much money is taken.
Have eaten @ 50th st location was great Ate here for Thanksgiving server never greeted us shared angry info never smiled etc took our order & never checked back till the end when he handed us the bill! Then when we didn't give a tip to his liking followed us out to show his boss ( which we had already spoken to) and never greeted our table either Unprofessional staff
Food was dry and lukewarm No one to even tell that to
The steaks were ok. Not much flavor in the filet. I also didn't like the side dishes that came with the filet (french fries, creamy spinach). I'm not sure if I were able to substitute, because I forgot to ask. The service was great, the people were friendly.
We ate here for an early dinner (5:30) after a Saturday Theater matinee. It was very a very short walk and they were able to accommodate my 6 year old nephew who was with us. (Although I don't think I would recommend for a number of kids later in the evening.)
Good portions and attentive service.
The meal we had was great until the end. I was using a gift certificate to pay for the meal and it had left over money on it after settling the bill. I asked the waiter what happens with the rest (do we get a gift cert for remaining amount?) he said let me find out. He returned shortly with the receipt, but no gift cert. I questioned him on this, and he said it was for one time use only. I understood and said okay can we use the rest on drinks, to which he informed me it was already used and the remaining amount can not be used. Was extremely upset because it was $70 left and the waiter did not try to remedy this at all, never told me the extra $70 was going to be a wash pretty much, and never let us use the remaining money on gift cert. Will never be going back there and was extremely upset at the overall situation.
Bobby Van's - Time Square never fails. Paul at the front is always attentive and makes your whole party feel important. The quality of everything is top notch, but be willing to pay for it. This is one of my go-to spots for business lunches and recently dinner for my daughter's birthday. My family loved it.
It is a great place for steak and meat in NYC. Right off of Times Square - good place to get away from the noise and the crowds in the area. The steak and the side dishes were great. The service was also very good and helpful. I would definitely go back again for dinner.
Our waiter, Corin, was AMAZING! The bacon appetizer was delicious and cooked crispy just like our party asked for. Salmon was fresh, cooked perfectly! Corin suggested a delicious red wine and it was so delicious I had a second glass. The chocolate mousse cake did not disappoint either. Try this gem of a restaurant.
While the experience was pleasant, we felt the prices were exorbitant for what we received. I didn't order the shrimp cocktail because of it's price...$22! Our "petite" filet mignons were $47 each. OK, they we 10 ounces (which is huge for a petite serving), but both steaks had inedible ends of fat. To me, a filet mignon should be fat and grizzle free. The meat was good, but not great. I will say the service was exceptional, but there weren't that many people in the restaurant on a Monday evening.
