Bobby Van's Grill - New York Ave. Ratings and Reviews
The food was delicious - the bacon wrapped scallops appetizer was enough to be a small meal! Everything was perfection, from the service to the ambiance. This is a gem! However, when making reservations, be sure to note the difference between Bobby Van’s Grill and Bobby Van’s Steakhouse. They are different restaurants at different addresses...
On this visit, the restaurant was largely taken up with what looked like an office party, even at 5 PM. I would have chosen a different venue, had I known that most of the restaurant would have been booked. Normally, it is a quiet venue at this time.
The food is fine, but it clearly helps if they know you. I made a reservation for myself and a companion - at her recommendation; she is a regular. I arrived first and was seated in a noisy passageway. She arrived and expressed surprise to find us sitting there - it was probably not what she was accustomed to. The food was lovely and fairly quickly presented. Getting the server to a) ask if we wanted coffee and/or dessert and b) pick up the bill when it was ready for payment, however, was a complex procedure. He was more interested in a different table - obviously, loudly and obsequiously. I ended up taking the bill to the front myself, probably embarrassing my companion, but neither of us had all day to sit there.
Despite the good food, I'm not going to go back enough times to make myself known to management - which, I suspect, is the key to adequate service. In fact, I'm not going back at all.
This was an amazing meal. This was not my first time at Bobby Vans, but everything was perfect Sunday night. The steaks and fish ordered by my table were all perfectly cooked. The waiter, Jose paid special attention to us. My cousin just ran the Marine Corps Marathon earlier in the day and he was ready for a juicy steak and he got one. His wife said this was the best meal she had ever had. Thanks BV.
My friend and I have the same birthday and this is our second year celebrating at BVG. The service is exceptional, managers check in and made note of birthday celebration for a wine and very special dessert! Bread pudding prepared in a way you have to see for yourself!
Love BV’s! The hosts are terrific along with the waiters. One minor criticism of the NY Ave restaurant -the bread basket. The bread basket at the 15th St NW restaurant is amazing. Not so much at the NY Ave location. Why can’t the NY Ave location mimic the 15th St and serve the same/similar bread and cracker assortment????
We went to Bobby Van's Grill on a Monday night, to celebrate my birthday, and absolutely enjoyed our experience. We were greeted at the door and seated immediately. The servers were attentive, nice, and offered us all the specials on the menu. The food tasted good and the ambiance was ideal for a date night or a get together with friends. Both the customers and servers were a bit on the older side, but no biggie, we enjoyed it nevertheless. We had the Cajun Rib Eye and the Lamb Shank with fries and roasted vegetables. It was a memorable dinner and a pleasurable experience. I highly recommend.
The staff was really rude. The food was not all that great and they acted as if they were annoyed because we were using a groupon. Save yourself money and time and go to another great steakhouse that has great reviews. I read the reviews but decided to give Bobby Van's a try and they lived up to the reviews expectations. Very rude staff except for the female bartender!!!!!!!!!
Where to Start from a nice welcome at the door to over all service from start to ending. Every dish seasoned just right and flavorful. One of the big highlights was our server Topu she made our dining experience all well worth it!
