Bobby Van's Grill - New York Ave.
Located 3 blocks west of the Convention Center and diagonal to City Center DC, Bobby Van’s Grill has a very loyal following of patrons who appreciate its first-rate, dry-aged steaks and seafood, phenomenal wine list, and exceptional professional wait staff – many of whom have worked for Bobby Van’s Grill for more than 12 years. Its new menu also features classic sandwiches and table-side cocktail preparation.
Boasting the largest private dining space of any restaurant in DC, Bobby Van’s Grill can accommodate guests in 7 different rooms! In the fall of 2018, it unveiled a newly renovated atrium (now known as The Atrium @ Bobby Van’s) that accommodates up to 330 people for private events.

The service and the food was wonderful. He also gave us a window table. I highly recommend it for lunch or dinner.
My steak was served with Shrimp on it - although I ordered it specifically without due to a shellfish allergy. To recook me a steak would have taken too long to keep pace with our business dinner. A little disappointed to not have a main course but the side orders shared with me were prepared well and offer good flavor.
Its our favorite place to dine, the staff is truly wonderful!
The food was great! Our waiter exceptional! You will love this spot for large or small parties.
I had very sweet and tender fillet mignon.
Service was outstanding. I understand the higher cost is due to the service, and the staff delivers what's promised! My food was a bit too spicy--I ordered cajun chicken, which usually I can handle cajun, but this dish had my sinuses going. But all in all, excellent and a very nice experience!
Slow service, food was undercooked. Had two people waiting our table and they both disappeared for long periods of time. People who showed up much later than is were served their main course before my party. I will say the Brussels Sprouts and mushrooms we're good but I will not be returning.
Great food and outstanding customer service. Steaks are the best in the area!
Dining space was definitely impacted by the building construction
Last night in DC! Great Steak!
We always stop by BV whenever we’re downtown. The food is good and the service is outstanding.
Bobby Vans never disappoints. Customer for 25+ years. The match between excellent gastronomy and personalized, worldly, and friendly service is unparalleled in DC. Always treated like a VIP.
we had a gereat time from entering the door to walking out for a aevening of enterainment
Hostess was rude we checked in a bit early for our reservation and despite a half empty dining room was told we needed to go to the bar and return at the appointed time. No sooner did we walk back to the lounge settle down to order she appeared to tell us our table was ready. We went to the table and a waiter appeared and asked “ what do you want” it was like I was at a diner no upscale service l did t offer specials and seemed put out when we inquired. The lack luster bordering on rude service continued throughout the meal. The bathrooms were a disaster area a broken toilet seat in the garbage papers strewn all over the floor a taped up sink was out of order. One bathroom was without a toilet seat.
There are plenty of steak houses in DC pick another one that has service an atmosphere and facilities reflective of the price point. With tip our party of 3 has an animist 300 bill and I’ve had more welcoming experiences at a diner.
A local friend recommended this as an excellent place to eat in DC and the food did not disappoint! We had the gamut from steak to seafood and the bread pudding flambe for dessert. However, the service was mediocre and our waiter, Jose, seemed disinterested and, literally, threw our checks at us before our dessert even arrived. Maybe Jose was having a bad day and thought we wouldn't be good tippers. So, I recommend for the food but beware of the service.
Wait staff was great the steak was slightly overcooked
Wonderful Lunch. Good food, Generous Portions. Love the Atrium setting.
It seems that every time I eat here we end up at a table next to the front door. Not the best experience but I made my reservation same day so that’s probably why.
The steak in the steak salad was ‘grey’ looking and I should have sent it back. I’ve ordered this salad before and the steak is never cooked to order. For example medium is not rare :) I think you may want to consider some QA on that.
One of my guests order soup and salad and asked that they arrive together with the rest of our meals. The soup arrived as an appetizer which is not what she requested.
We walked in through the bar and out through the bar and the bartender was super friendly. He greeted us when we came in and when we were leaving. He seemed genuine and it was a nice touch.
Very loud. Had to use restroom as soon as we got there and someone had puked all over the toilet. I notified out waitress when I returned to table. My son used the restroom when we were done dinner 1 hour and 30 minutes later and it was worst when he used it. My wife’s entree wasn’t hot. We never had anyone from management check on us the entire time we were there to see if everything was ok. Not hat you would expect for dropping $300 for table of 4.
Food good, but I hate steakhouses that charge you a small fortune for a side dish that really is not that spectacular (asparagus). Crab mac & cheese was very good, though.
Salad (butternut squash) was exceptional, but the tomato/mozzarella salad did not look appealing with that HUGE cheese ball right in the middle of the plate with lack of salad dressing.
Table-side carved prime rib had good flavor, but the way it was carved and literally 'flopped' onto the plate was a little tacky.
I would pass on the banana bread pudding desert. We were told "it is delightful". You are really just paying for the light show that comes with it (flambe'); tasty, but NOT worth the $18.
Chocolate cake and cheesecake were actually "delightful".
The food was excellent the service horrible.
Another flawless and delicious business lunch at Bobby Van's Grill. The Harry's salad is my go-to amazing lunch treat.
Service was excellent!; could not have been better.
Service was poor. Over 45 minutes for the entire table to receive drinks. Food order was mixed up. Dessert came 52 minutes after we had finished our meal. If you’re pressed for time or entertaining your entire Board of Directors, go elsewhere that has it together.
Steaks truly over priced side dishes need to come down by $2.00 or so but rest dishes well priced the steak Sauce would do well in Texas(Clear Lake Area) maybe you need to open at steak House down here. The Bar person not sure if he was the Tender or the manager but whoever it was he was delightful friendly happy to know we waiting to be seated at the restaurant. Got us some drinks while we waited. My Slightly surly Jewish waiter (loved him) was awesome he was very direct he knew exactly what I want and I was totally impressed. He ask what you liked and brought you Exactly what you wanted. He new we were from out of town, When I left your restaurant some nice gentleman shook my hand I was kindy of pressed. Great EQ. Thanks for a great experience!!!
PS I thought the crab cakes and grilled Scallops were better than the steaks. I believe a steak should not need steak sauce and your steak were favored well.
The Filet Minion was not very tender and would not order again as Filet is usually tender and tasty. All else was good.
Restaurant was clearly not prepared for the crowd. Our dinner arrived at 9:35 PM and we were seated at 7:30. Food was good but it’s hard to enjoy when you are irritated. The failure in service was that they did not communicate nor care for the table. We had to multiple times for water. Server was not friendly.
Our meal took over 2 hours to come to our table and the wait staff was not very attentive to our table during the long delay.
Excellent service & food. Expensive but worth it!
The food was de-licious! Noise level was pretty high but not too awful. The service wasn’t great though. Even though I had a reservation we had to wait a bit for a table to be cleaned off. I felt like the waiter completely ignored me and only asked questions to my boyfriend , gave him the menu first, etc. They also forgot to bring out our fries but it was still added to the bill. No bueno
The Executive lunch is a definite choice loved it!
It was a great evening! A night out with the girls!
Food is great. More variety than most top notch steakhouses
Great service. Food was wonderful
Enjoyed the atmosphere
Great selection of menu
Best rib eye steak I've had in a long time! We both took leftover steak to go. Still tasted good after 2 minutes in the microwave.
Service was slow. Waiter never came back for drink order and never received uneaten food.
Great service and great food. Staff provided great service
Hello there reader, please by no means should you not visit the restaurant, however for the money paid #Over$250 the seating, waiter service, and the company that sat across from my spouse and I was POOR..... I planned to surprise my baby with a lovely day of joy and Love. However the couple that sat us beside was nasty and obnoxious they clearly had no home training or table etiquette, their conversation was loud and degrading and the restaurant staff stood around and did nothing. Maybe on any other day that day would have finished with a perfect ending however the one I had planned for my fiancé was ruined. She didn’t even want to eat and was ready to go once the lady placed both her legs up on the guy and he’s fondling her in the open. Very disappointing and disgusting. Also their was supposed to be a dress code standard that clearly was not adhered to..... SMH 🤦🏽♀️
Every item I've tried from their menu is delicious.
The server was very helpful in finding the right meal for everyone in our party. And the meals were great!
