Bobby Van's Grill on Broad Street in the Financial District is closed and nobody notified Open Table. For years, there has been both a Bobby Van's Steakhouse and a separate Bobby Van's Grill on Broad Street. The Grill was on a lower level and one of it's great features was the dining ares inside the old bank vault surrounded by hundreds of safe deposit boxes. Well, the Grill closed by Open Table continues to take reservations for it. The Steakhouse will provide the Grill menu but the experience is not the same because the ambience of the Steakhouse is a far cry from the old Grill.
Our waiter Freddy was outstanding! Burger was juicy and done to perfection.
We came in for lunch party of 4. My filet was perfect and flavorful. My sons Seared Ahi was not what we were used to in California. The cut of Ahi seemed flavorless and a bit watery in texture. We do not know why it was like this. We do get good sashimi quality Ahi in california and maybe it was just a regional difference. It was prepared perfectly and well presented. The other two dishes were the cobb salad and a wrap. they were both up to standard but did not amaze. We loved the restaurant and the service. i would be back for the filet and maybe try other dishes on the menu. i would recommend for any visitors to the area.
Waiter was very aware of business being conducted and did not interrupt at all. Very discreet and professional of him.
Very disappointed. The steak was undercooked. We sent it back to be cooked more. The meat was chewy and not flavorful. All else was decent but far from memorable. I would never return.
Tim , the MD and all personnel are exceptional ! Food is excellent, recommend lunch special with the "filet mignon"
Excellent meal and great service. Great bar area and very nice ambiance.
Great food, good attention from service staff.
My guests had steak that was OK, but not the best, I had shrimp scampi that was just terrible . A tiny cup of rice and shrimp as hard as a rock and totally tasteless. No flavor, nothing. I could have had a $ 10.00 shrimp dish at a Chinese reastaurant that would have felt & tasted so muchchchchchchchchc better
Great ambiance! Nice service and presentation. I have suggested to friends to give it a try!
have been here several times. Service is great as well as the food. It is my go to place when in the Wall Street area.
Flavorless steak and asparagus. Nasty creamed spinach.
Forget about it... you just can't possibly get anything much better anywhere than Bobby Van's Grill Wall Street!! Oh the steaks - so very perfect! My daughter is a classical Ballerina and really goes for a good, thick, well seasoned, perfectly cooked filet and I'm Lao all for that. Our steaks were like butter baby!! We've been following Bobby for years on the Food Network and finally during our visit to NYC from SF, we at the real Wall Street Restaurant, Bobby Van's Grill! A Must Eat eatery for everyone visiting NYC!!!
My business associates and I had a great meal. The bartender John Cella, best in NYC.
It's been my third time at this restaurant and they don't arm to disappoint. I love it.
Our waiter was great and food was great!
Disappointing visit.. Have eaten upstairs many times and the grill in the basement, has basement service and food. Both dishes we had served to us were extremely dry, overcooked and not good. Service was not too attentive as it is upstairs and the appearance is dungeon like and very dated with a musty basement odor. Will not return.
The Broad Street/Wall Street location of Bobby Van's is my favorite. Great steakhouse we came here for lunch today and were amazed. They have got great drinks, amazing food, and impeccable service. I could dine here all the time!
This is my second time having lunch at the Broad Street location. The staff is attentive and responsive; however, the food is just okay. And overpriced. While I was aware of Prix Fixe menu, it wasn't offered until I asked about it. And, we didn't think the value was there so we ordered from the full lunch menu. Again, I would suggest Empire Steak for a better value.
Kitchen was very slow and the restaurant was not very crowded
Great service!!! I had the calamari tossed in sweet chili sauce for my meal it was amazing. I went here for a department lunch and they were so accommodating and quick with our orders (since we were under a tight timeframe).
Everything but the chef. I highly suggest management to hunt for a skillful, compassionate chef. I don't want to go in to embarrassing details. The food needs improvement both in quality, texture and taste.
Excellent dinner with friends. First time at the restaurant and they actually read and complied with my request for a quiet spot. The bank vault/wine room was a fabulous setting for a fabulous evening all around. Great food, service and ambiance. It was restaurant week and the choices were fantastic, so all four of us got a real bargain. Only complaint was that the cocktail price was too high while the price for wine by the glass was moderate. Enjoyed nonetheless!
This restaurant was okay I think I would have a better time if I would have did a different location... The financial district a little noisy not really my crowd.... The food was pretty decent definitely had better.... But it was fine always wanted to try Bobby vans so I can check it off my list....
superb steaks, great drinks shaken at the table, attentive staff, always a great dining experience
Food was good but not great. Ordered the spicy chicken wrap and it was served in a burrito sized wrap and not the smaller wrap. My husband had the pasta special and it was good. Big portions and affordable for NYC. Would recommend it
The host and staff were professional and greeting my and my guest upon entering. We were seated in a quiet area as requested. The appetizer and entrée were as expected and served within reasonable amount of time. I did have to remind our server to bring the drinks which took longer than expected. Because of this delay,we felt a bit hurried through the dining experience. In addition were notified of a holiday event that would be requiring our table. These factors made us feel as if we were an imposition during our first visit.
Server was great and very accommodating. I think his name was Ozie. manager Joe was also very nice and helpful. Food was great specially the bone in ribeye and crabcake!
good food but that doesn't justify the price charged
I really like Bobby Van's but definitely prefer the midtown locations. The Broad Street location has less polish to everything (ambiance, service, food, etc...) and they didn't have my favorite dish (artichoke salad). I went for a business lunch and I will pick somewhere else next time around if I'm in the Financial District.
Normally I would expect outstanding service, but last night I took clients out to celebrate and our waitress was on a different planet. She didn't know if the seafood platter was raw or cooked and when she picked up my dish after the meal, she said to me "good job". Who does that?!
Great service and atmosphere, nice way to end the work week. Everyone loved their food choices.
I brought a potential business partner here for lunch and the food was great and the service and atmosphere were top notch. I arrived early (shortly after they opened) and the head waiter saw that i was waiting for the person with whom I was meeting and took me on a tour of the place and showed me the old vault in which the restaurant is built. It really is a cool place and we were very well taken care of even as the other tables started to fill up. I may start using them regularly to meet with potential partners and clients down near Wall St.
Always good food and great ambience!
Visited during restaurant week with a large group, great menu selections and service was on point
what a great place to have a business lunch or dinner. it is a very "Wall Street" crowd with wonderful food and wait staff. have been here more than once and will continue to return.
It's why I keep coming back
Good choice for a business lunch where you want good food, professional service, and uncramped surroundings.
Great service, disappointing food. We started with oysters Rockefeller which were good. Next we had a wedge with what was supposed to be bleu cheese dressing but unfortunately there was no bleu cheese in it just a goopy sauce with a faint bleu cheesy taste. We then shared a $120 porterhouse steak that was tasteless and hugely disappointing. The $20 martinis (yes, $20 each) were very good!
Had lunch here with a friend. Nothing spectacular here.
