Bobby Van's Grill - 50th Street
My wife and I enjoyed Caesar & wedge salads as well as petite fillet mignons cooked perfectly. We ordered a loaded baked potato, which was also very tasty. The wait staff was most attentive, which was not surprising since the restaurant was virtually empty while we dined. Prices are high, but to be expected at a New York City steakhouse. I'd definitely return to Bobby Van's Grill.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary Wednesday night here before a show at Radio City. We were late and in a rush, and the staff was very accommodating. Our waiter Matt was very attentive. The food was delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant. We already made reservations to return.
We had a wonderful experience. We arrived early and our table was ready for us! The French Onion Soup was some of the best I’ve had! Perfect celebratory meal before our Broadway show!
The steak was superior. The restaurant is near Caroline's on Broadway so it was a perfect evening.
Nothing special about the food, had to request that the bread will be warmed, the level of noise was unbearable
The place was relatively empty (there were 5 occupied tables) on Saturday night at 8:30. The service started out great, but by the end of the meal, our waitress had changed into her non-work clothing and left the restaurant, prior to bringing over our check - completely odd.
The steaks were good. The crab was great. The tuna was average at best, but no one ever checked, so they wouldn't know. Definitely not worth returning.
I won't go into the near disaster we had prior to coming to Bobby Van's at the last minute but I'm so glad it worked out this way. The food was delicious, our server was friendly and made great recommendations for both sharable apps and entree selection, and the only hiccup during service was addressed immediately. We all ordered different steaks (well, including a mouth watering porterhouse for 3) and were extremely pleased.
The only good news: Terrific wait staff and manager who graciously comped me on dessert.....but the damage was already done in the kitchen. A ribeye steak that had to have been meant for someone else, was placed in front of me. Either the Bobby Van's steak knife was exceptionally dull (always a possibility, yes?) or this was the roughest, toughest cut of steak I have ever been served. And, as I explained too late in the process to the manager, it was clearly a medium-well steak versus the medium-rare that I ordered. I saw a table next to mine with two perfectly cooked medium rare steaks so I know someone in the kitchen is capable of grilling steaks to the customers' specifications. But a mistake is a mistake; preparing an edible steak should not be a problem. I spoke up too late to replace the order: my bad. However, the steak in front of me would have been thrown out because you can't uncook a steak; more important, I couldn't bear the thought of the kitchen making up for its mistake by wasting food. But that still left me with a final bill over $100 and that's with no drinks, no appetizers, no salad and the aforementioned comped dessert. I could never go back. Way too much of an expense for a terrible steak with basic sides that were dry and almost without taste.
Bobby Van's was a very comfortable place in the heart of the hustle bustle of the city. The restaurant is very convenient with its proximity to Time Square. We had the lasagna and ravioli which were both were both very taste. The waitstaff was fantastic providing suggestions.
Caesar - excellent
Shrimp Scampi disappointing
Backed potato good but could have had scallions with the sour cream
The staff at Bobby Van's knows about hospitality and how it is done!!!
Greeted at the door with a sincere smile in NYC---can you imagine?
We felt welcomed and appreciated. The restaurant is very handsome and
the food was wonderful. The lunch menu is very varied and interesting.
I had the best lobster roll of the summer and my friends each had the scallop app which
they raved about. The waitstaff is very competent, knowledgeable and
attentive without being bothersome. We look forward to returning.
Went with my daughter after seeing a broadway play. This was my second time there. Everything about it from our waiter to the food was excellent!!
We arrived early for our reservation and we were seated immediately. Each staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. When when friend asked where the ladies room was located, the server escorted her there. The fresh mozzarella and tomato was so fresh and the skirt steak was cooked to perfection (medium rare). I would absolutely go back to Bobby Van's Grill.
Excellent service and excellent food, what more can you ask. We had a wonderful time. Will definitely dine here again.
Service was not great at all- never offered drinks, took forever to get check.
Wonderful experience all around! Friendly, professional service from the hostess, the Maitre D, the waiters and the servers! The food was outstanding and the atmosphere enjoyable! I would highly recommend Bobby Van’s while in NYC!
Excellent customer service and the food was amazing. See you again soon. Thanks again!
Excellent venue for a work lunch. Food and service is excellent and more importantly consistent.
Very classic steak house with very classic menus but everything is authentic and feel old Italian steak restaurant loved like age of The God Father
We always go at least once to this restaurant when we visit New York City. We have never had a bad experience, meal or dish in the six visits we have made here. Our last visit, Tony could not have been more attentive and made it the most enjoyable experience we have had at any restaurant in New York City bar none. Well worth the money for the food and service.
Excellent service the staff was very attentive. The filet was very good. We will certainly be back.
Nice midweek steak house.
We loved everything about Bobby Van’s and will return next time we visit the city. We were celebrating a big birthday, and four of us went to Bobby Van’s before seeing a show. The food, service, drinks, and atmosphere were all excellent!
The bruschetta and shrimp cocktail appetizers were delicious. Our entrees, salmon, filet mignon with mushroom risotto, penne, and chicken marsala, were all outstanding. The cheesecake and chocolate gelato completed an absolutely delicious meal.
Our servers, Molly and Howard, were welcoming, attentive, funny, and helpful without being intrusive. We asked for breakfast recommendations for the next morning, and they gave us a handwritten list of suggestions, with addresses. Bobby Van’s is a gem! 11/10
Excellent service, very good food!
It was a wonderful dining experience. From the time we entered the restaurant until the time we left was Exceptional. Will return again.
Loved the food, drinks and service!!
The food and ambiance were great but honestly the highs of our experience was our Server Anthony. He was professional, informative and a complete Gentleman. He is a Great Asset to Bobby Vans .
Impeccable Service. Excellent wine list. We had a party of ten for Restaurant week. We were able to have good conversation and were not yelling over the noise. The food was served promptly. Everything was wonderful.
Was a wonderful experience
Restaurant was quiet! We were lucky enough to be there during restaurant week. Deal was fantastic! Waiter was fabulous! Food was delicious ! We added a few extras and our bill was very reasonable! Highly recommend ! Can’t wait to go back !
very experienced wait staff, and prompt serving of food, as well as clearing plates. Delicious too!
We had visitors from Minneapolis who wanted to go to a steak restaurant in the Times Square area.
This was perfect. The service was great, food plentiful and delicious.
The chairs do get hard after a couple of hours.
This was our first time dinning at Bobby Vans and it was wonderful! Our server was Carmine and he was great! It was an enjoyable evening and we will definitely be back.
Good food, very good service.
I've eaten here several times, it's always good, but I would not order the Skirt Steak again (was a bit tough). My friend's ordered a burger and had to send back because it wasn't cooked well done. Overall, it was nice, the service was fantastic and the waiter was very accommodating.
Stopped in for lunch and had a great time. Service was fabulous and the food was great.
We wanted to try something new but have a great steak dinner. What a great choice we made in choosing this restaurant! My guy ordered from the regular dinner menu and I ordered from the daily special that included soup or salad. I chose the Summer salad and it was so good! My filet was delicious and even the creamy horse radish sauce I requested was perfect. I chose the chocolate mousse for dessert and it was the perfect compliment to my meal. Thank you for great service too!
We were on our way to see Barbra Streisand at MSG and we were familiar with BV from DC. A wonderful experience as usual and we’ve found a go to place when we’re in NYC again.
We’ll be back!
Excellent food - wait staff was kind and responsive - great time - highly recommend !
Fantastic place. I come here for the holidays with my family. The best service you can get and over the top food. Waiting staff always help you decide on great pairings.
For a monthly get together with my girlfriends I picked this restaurant having been to the location down at Broad St. It was a great experience. The food was amazing, from the Caesar salad, to the steak and chicken, to the desserts. I also had a white sangria which was delicious and went great with my meal. Our waiter was so nice and sweet. Great food, great ambiance with great people.
