About Bobby Van's Grill - 50th Street
The combination of a traditional American grill combined with the classic elements of a first-rate steak house best describes Bobby Van’s fourth New York City location. Run by the same four partners who have been awarded Tom Horan’s American Top Ten Steakhouses in each of the past three years, the Grill caters to those seeking the legendary Bobby Van’s Porterhouse as well as lighter dishes such as pastas, salads and fish. All served with the renowned service that has been Bobby Van’s hallmark from its beginnings in 1969. As partner Joseph Hickey said “We’re all about pure, unadulterated customer happiness."

Bobby Van's Grill - 50th Street Ratings and Reviews
I've eaten there three times in the last two weeks. Two were business dinners and one was personal. I went back because Bobby Van's is a traditional old style steakhouse with a great personality, great food, and great service. The steak and seafood are excellent, there are lots of vegetable and salad options, the drinks are generous and you leave satisfied. All of this without getting in the way of great conversation.
The only good thing about this place is the proximity to theaters. I ordered a flatbread appetizer with ricotta and mushrooms. I got one with mozzarella balls and salad piled on it. Sorry, said the waiter; they "changed it up." I ordered the mahi-mahi fish of the day; it was so overcooked, it was inedible. My friend got the lobster cocktail; same. Like rubber. Maybe they are better at meat.
We went pre theater, they were respectful of our need to be finished in a timely manner. We dined on the Dover Sole special of the night and recommended crab cakes from the menu, both excellent. Ordered sides of veggies which were well prepared. Limited selection of wines by the glass but certainly adequate. Will return.
This particular location was terrible. I have eaten at other Bobby Van's this was by far the worse. Ordered their porkchops medium, it came out well done. Sent it back, the second time it came back raw inside. Cancelled the order.
Their lobster mac n cheese was terrible, they served with a lobster tail and claw and no pieces of lobster in the Mac n cheese.
We went as a family after a matinee. Our drinks and food were delish, and our waiter and staff was so friendly and nice. They explained every special and made suggestions. Have been before and enjoyed it as before. Would go again but expect a good sized check.
My Fiancé and I had a good dinner prior to attending a concert later in Queens. This restaurant steak house is nicely placed in the area between Time Square and Central Park.
Very punctual staff catering to your request and timely service. We had the roasted lemon chicken and Atlantic Salmon dishes which were very delicious ... complements to the chefs and staff.
Went for dinner on a Saturday night. The greeter was very friendly. Service was timely but not very friendly. A bit of old boys and somewhat condescending feel from servers. Steaks and French onion soup were good but not outstanding. Compared to other steakhouses we visited in NYC, Bobby Van's was goood, but not great.
