About Bobby Van's Grill - 50th Street
The combination of a traditional American grill combined with the classic elements of a first-rate steak house best describes Bobby Van’s fourth New York City location. Run by the same four partners who have been awarded Tom Horan’s American Top Ten Steakhouses in each of the past three years, the Grill caters to those seeking the legendary Bobby Van’s Porterhouse as well as lighter dishes such as pastas, salads and fish. All served with the renowned service that has been Bobby Van’s hallmark from its beginnings in 1969. As partner Joseph Hickey said “We’re all about pure, unadulterated customer happiness."

Bobby Van's Grill - 50th Street Ratings and Reviews
Excellent evening for a date-night with my wife. Active restaurant though the noise level may have been a little louder than we would have preferred. Meal was excellent. Large quantities. Side dishes are more than enough for 2. Would definitely go back there again.
Sit in the center section as first choice or bar as second choice. Do not sit in the section which is on the far left as you walk in. Do not sit there. In the middle of a really expensive but tasty meal they start to close giant doors and bang your chair in the process. Totally disruptive and rude. Hey, Bobby Vans, why you rude like that?
Overpriced - poor quality meat and even poorer presentation and handling - ridiculously expensive and there are far better choices in New York City. Disappointed and felt taken advantage of - and I refused the free desert for the poor meal!! Not a suitable compensation. Lost me and my guests as a customer.
It's been year since I went to this location and could not understand why it took me so long to go back. The service is unbelievable, and the food is good. I so want to go and hang out at the bar at some point just for the experience of sitting at that large incredible bar
We had a lovely lunch at a window table. Our waitress was extremely efficient and friendly as were the servers, the amount of attention was perfect as were the recommendations from our waitress. It was a wonderful experience from the minute we entered until the moment we exited. And a special thank you to the manager who found me a restaurant matchbook for my collection, that was so very nice of him!!!
We were quite disappointed with the quality of meats served at this steakhouse. The filet mignon came with a large piece of fat which the waiter graciously too away from our table after we cut it off.
Crab cake appetizer in the mustard sauce was delicious !!!!!!!
Overall, I was very disappointed.
Service was lackluster. We weren’t offered the specials that we overheard others being offered. Bread was not warm. Filet mignon was mediocre for $53 al a carte. My plate was so hot that I burnt myself, it would have been nice if the waiter mentioned it. No follow up to see how everything was. I’ve been to 46th Street location which was much better.
Five of us for dinner, none of us impressed. None of the steaks ordered were tender and the skirt steak was tough as leather! Service was poor forgetting and bringing ordered items late. Price was exceptionally high in relationship to the quality of the food. Will not go back to this restaurant.
Overall we had a so-so experience. I liked the ambience and felt the restaurant had an authentic New York feel. The food we ordered was actually very good - across a range of entrees including home made pasta, steak and burgers. The issue was with the service. We were met and guided to a table by a very cold individual. My friend had to actually ask for the menus, no steak knife was provided, we had to ask twice for extra condiments, there was no check in to see if everything was alright and no attention to whether we needed more drinks. Basically there was no attention to service at all. So not somewhere I would go back to or recommend based on the service.
We had not been back to Bobby Van's Grill in months -- far too long, primarily because my company relocated. When we learned that dear friends from law school would meet us, we immediately recommended Bobby Van's Grill for our gathering and we were not disappointed. Everyone was extra kind to us and Derrick, our wait person, made sure that we felt welcome and all our needs were met. Everything was wonderful and the food was absolutely out of this world. I often tell my friends that BVG is the place that serves great steak, but equally amazing seafood. We had some of everything and were very, very pleased. We cannot wait to return!
Had a great meal here. Excellent steaks but we over ordered the sides as we were not made aware some of the specials had sides included. Great service, friendly staff but surprised how empty the restaurant was on a Friday night, booked on-line & only time we could get was 8:30 pm, when we arrived restaurant was pretty empty and was never busy. Would recommend the Rib-eye if you have a big appetite.
