About Bobby Van's Grill - 50th Street
The combination of a traditional American grill combined with the classic elements of a first-rate steak house best describes Bobby Van’s fourth New York City location. Run by the same four partners who have been awarded Tom Horan’s American Top Ten Steakhouses in each of the past three years, the Grill caters to those seeking the legendary Bobby Van’s Porterhouse as well as lighter dishes such as pastas, salads and fish. All served with the renowned service that has been Bobby Van’s hallmark from its beginnings in 1969. As partner Joseph Hickey said “We’re all about pure, unadulterated customer happiness."

Bobby Van's Grill - 50th Street Ratings and Reviews
I took my husband here for his 40th birthday before we saw a broadway show. While the restaraunt itself is lovely + our waiter very friendly + attentive, we were so disappointed with our meals. My husband ordered a special -- a 30 ounce steak -- which was nothing special other than it's sides. His side dishes (mashed potatoes + roasted corn) were bland. I ordered a pizza which was undercooked (the crust was still doughy) + had way too much basil. We did enjoy the french onion soup. Considering the price, we were so surprised at the quality of food + would not reccomend Bobby Van's.
my friend and I met prior to theater for a Restaurant lunch. we decided the actual menu was to tempting so we order off it instead. the portions were just what we wanted. we both had different items and were extremely satisfied. my friend was so thrilled with the menu that she made a point of saying that the "girls" are always looking for a decent place to eat lunch without it costing a fortune and this is it. the waiter was attentive and the head waiter was constantly observing the guests for those that needed something. we now know that when we have theater in the 50's area this is a place for us.
After not being able to secure reservations at Carmine’s or Tony danopoli’s I was able to to get a reservation for my desired time. I must say. The food was very good and was very happy overall. Colossal crab cocktail was a great start and the seafood fradiavolo was surprising excellent. Porterhouse house for 2 is also highly recommended.
This is our go to place in NYC. Always great quality food. Sometimes service has been less than ideal. There is one server in particular who always seems like he is disinterested and forgets almost every drink order and change to a dish. Overall a must is the Tuna and the Calamari everyone
I honestly found it overpriced . The bread was my favourite part and the place was very nice but I hate it when entrees have no side dishes included with a 30-50$ price tag . The serving size was huge but I would rather less volume with side included ! To order a side dish was too much (Fries or vegetables were 13-8 $) ! So not my favourite sorry
Place was fine, because of location it’s expected you pay for it. But you expect a very good service for the money you pay, unfortunately our server was not on a good mood that night even though the place was not busy at that time, don’t even know what’s a Philadelphia Steak is. Didn’t bother him throughout .Forgot my order of glass of red wine together with my steak-He remembered after the bill came...I was there in Dec 2016 with a big Family - service was excellent then..It seem our server was called from home to work that night...
A large touristy venue for Times Square crowd and before/after theater. Better location than the mid-40's restaurants yet still close enough to walk to theater. Food is basic bland. Service not the greatest. But lively and fun atmosphere. Fine once in a while.
