About Bobby Van's Grill - 50th Street
The combination of a traditional American grill combined with the classic elements of a first-rate steak house best describes Bobby Van’s fourth New York City location. Run by the same four partners who have been awarded Tom Horan’s American Top Ten Steakhouses in each of the past three years, the Grill caters to those seeking the legendary Bobby Van’s Porterhouse as well as lighter dishes such as pastas, salads and fish. All served with the renowned service that has been Bobby Van’s hallmark from its beginnings in 1969. As partner Joseph Hickey said “We’re all about pure, unadulterated customer happiness."

Bobby Van's Grill - 50th Street Ratings and Reviews
This is our go to place in NYC. Always great quality food. Sometimes service has been less than ideal. There is one server in particular who always seems like he is disinterested and forgets almost every drink order and change to a dish. Overall a must is the Tuna and the Calamari everyone
I honestly found it overpriced . The bread was my favourite part and the place was very nice but I hate it when entrees have no side dishes included with a 30-50$ price tag . The serving size was huge but I would rather less volume with side included ! To order a side dish was too much (Fries or vegetables were 13-8 $) ! So not my favourite sorry
Place was fine, because of location it’s expected you pay for it. But you expect a very good service for the money you pay, unfortunately our server was not on a good mood that night even though the place was not busy at that time, don’t even know what’s a Philadelphia Steak is. Didn’t bother him throughout .Forgot my order of glass of red wine together with my steak-He remembered after the bill came...I was there in Dec 2016 with a big Family - service was excellent then..It seem our server was called from home to work that night...
A large touristy venue for Times Square crowd and before/after theater. Better location than the mid-40's restaurants yet still close enough to walk to theater. Food is basic bland. Service not the greatest. But lively and fun atmosphere. Fine once in a while.
It was our first time there and we were very happy to have dinner at Christmas (12.25.)! But then, we were very disappointed about the service, the food and the quality in total. It was really a bad experience to have such a expensive dinner and getting such bad quality. Sorry, no more again.

We arrived before our reservation hour so we sat at the bar and had a couple of drinks. Afterwards directed to our table for six. Staff was patient considering the half of our party did not arive on time. Porter steak was good and everyone was satisfied. Waiters were attentive
Went there to celebrate my birthday. The server took our order then got sat with a large party. He didn't come back to see how the food was or if we needed anything else like refills on water. We asked the manager for the check and we only saw our server again when he picked up the check.
Of course the food and service are fantastic as they would be at any Bobby Van's. However, this location is very loud and crowded. We found ourselves having to shout to talk across the table. If you are looking for a spot for a quiet dinner, you might select one of the other Bobby Van's locations.
Food was good but not outstanding. Service was expected. Its a costly place so be prepared to spend a good buck. Bills itself as a typical steak place. My bone in Rib Eye was as expected the cream spinach as expected. Wine list was just OK...not bad not exceptional...We make two trips with family a year...and we expect to spend a good penny on dinner...Our dinner for 5 with two bottles of wine was almost $800...but two of the girls only ate apps...
The food (especially the steak) was OUTSTANDING. Unfortunately the waiters always seemed distracted and more interested in what was going on at other tables. Whenever they stopped by they would talk with us briefly but we’re always looking at the other tables. It was really odd and made us feel like they just weren’t interested in our table. GREAT food, average service at the best. Considering the price I would say below average service. Too bad. For the price you can get a better experience elsewhere.
This place was highly recommended by a family memeber. I called before going to ask a question about parking and was spoken too very rudely and cursed at over crab meat when I never even asked my question that had to do with parking. I called back 20 minutes later to be told that my parking question was stupid. Despite the rudeness over the phone I still went there for dinner. It started out great. Multiple servers helping with wine and taking orders. Then it was like everyone went home. After eating the dirty dishes were left on the table for at least 10 minutes. Than it took andother 10-15 minutes to get the check and my change. A very odd experience to say the least. I will not being going back to this location.
Bad night made worse when they accused my daughter of stealing. Arrived 45 minutes early for a reservation. Could not be seated early, seated 15 mins late at a table that was empty the hour we waited. Our waiter was hurried and curt. Meal was very slow. Food was not good to bad. What turned this from bad to traumatic was when we got up to leave the host asked me how it was and I said not good. He ignored that and said he needed to speak to me privately. Your daughter took money off the top of the coat check tips! What?! Based on what? He said one of the attendants said money was missing. The staff denied it and on video we saw your daughter. I made my daughter turn out her pockets. Confused she did so revealing pocket lint. When I told her why she immediately burst into tears. I demanded to see the tape. I saw a blurry image where you could not see anything in the jar. The staff moved the jar and then saw my daughter standing right next to me turn for a brief second near the jar. There he said! She stole money that quick? Is she a 15 year old pro? We just saw the staff touch the jar a bunch and I saw them empty and fill the jar. I asked why the staff touched the jar so much. He said they keep a jar underneath the counter and empty it. How are you sure the staff did not take it then? They said they did not and I trust my staff. I trust my daughter more! How are you even sure money is missing? He said the video is not high resolution but the coat check lady reported it missing. So the logical conclusion is she stole a few dollars right in front of me? She's also a great actress as she is bawling her eyes out right now. You accused us based on this? He said it was a miscommunication and they had not planned to accuse us. My daughter cried the entire time home. I will now make it my mission to get this story out and warn everyone I know and can reach to stay away! If money truly was missing, I'll bet it happens again and my 9th grader won't be around for them to blame.
