Open during spring and summer seasons, The Boathouse offers a menu of freshly caught seafood fare and timeless comfort dishes for lunch and dinner. Try some of the homemade items that include steamed clams, New England clam chowder, garlic crusted Alaskan salmon, shrimp scampi, Chilean seabass, lobster tails, filet mignon and rib eye steak.
Enjoy a relaxing day at the beach and stop by The Boathouse for a signature cocktail and shared appetizers that can be enjoyed with family and friends. Guests can split the shrimp cocktail, crab cakes, poke martini or fried zucchini for a refreshing plate.
We went for happy hour and came back for dinner. The service is very friendly and the food is amazing. We had the shrimp appetizer in a goat cheese sauce that was delicious. Then we ordered the Salmon and it was a wonderful large piece that was really good. I would go back next time we are in SLT. The view is amazing. Thank you for a very memorable evening.
Good food but limited menu. One menu item was not availablel
This restaurant is on the pier over Lake Tahoe....beautiful views from every window or outdoor table. There are many plastic tables surrounding the outside of the restaurant and they would be a fun place for a casual drink to watch the sunset. The service was excellent and everyone was warm and welcoming.
The food, however, was poorly prepared. There was no or very limited taste to either of the entrees that we ordered. The clam chowder and the tortillas for the tacos were really barely edible...and both left an aftertaste in your mouth.
Additionally, the restaurant needs a good cleaning to remove the dust from all of the light fixtures, a good wipe down of all of the tables (both inside and outside) along with the window sills. Finally, all of the condiments need to be cleaned...left over and dried on hot sauce and catsup was the final straw for us with this restaurant.
Overall...a new cook, a good cleaning and more rigorous management of the restaurant would allow this great location to become a great restaurant.
great for views and good portions of great food. menu limited, yet, super find. must walk through hotel suites to get to, surprisingly great. Ahi entree plenty as a meal, margaritas too sweet, didn't try the wine. quality food, pricey. great find.
We had a reservation for dinner at an early hour on Valentine's Day and were promptly greeted and taken into the towards the fully empty dining room. We had to wait and walk around a couple of waiters who seemed to be more interested in their own conversation while standing in our path than being aware of their surroundings. The hostess plowed along leaving us in her wake and left us to face the obstacle of waiters jawing away on our own. We were eventually walked to the most remote, most non-view and by- the-exit-door table; again we're talking an empty dining room here. We had seen a couple of tables with reserved signs on them but not on the window tables. We asked for another table, preferably by the window whereupon the hostess said those were "saved'. We said that we would prefer one of the window tables. She said she would look into it to see if we could be seated there, then returned to her podium. We were left standing there in the dining room by an empty table for 5 minutes. It wasn't until a busser came by and gave us a seat at that table. I'm not sure what happened to the hostess.
Valentine dinner included a glass of champagne which came to our table warm.
While enjoying my appetizer, the waiter brought our salads out and without asking promptly pulled my appetizer away in mid-bite to place my salad down in front of me. Luckily, he hadn't removed it from the table so I was able to swap the plates back so I could finish the appetizer.
Otherwise, the food was very good as always as we have been here quite a few times. The service however seemed to be lacking tonight, possibly from an inexperienced staff and this detraction was what we remembered most from this evening.
The Boathouse is the best restaurant around! It has beautiful views of the lake. The atmosphere is romantic and elegant, but it would also be good for family dining. The decor is beautiful and very upscale. The food is beyond excellent! Every time we have eaten at The Boathouse we have been blown away by the food. It's so delicious. The servers are friendly, and always eager to please and accommodate you. All together The Boathouse is the best restaurant we have been to. We look forward to many more meals there!
Quiet night in the off season. Excellent food, attentive staff. Located right on the lake behind a hotel; you have to look for it. Worth it for the view alone.
Everything from the service, ambience, view to the food was absolutely perfect! My boyfriend and I both had the clam chowder for appetizer then we each had the New York steak with mashed potatoes and veggies. Steak was cooked exactly how we asked for.
And it wasn't over priced. Can't wait to go back! Thank you again Boathouse for such an excellent dining experience !!
We love the Boathouse, we have been for lunch many times and decided to try dinner. We were very pleased with the menu and what's not to like about that great lake view. Our server, Casey was fantastic! Definitely going back for both lunch and dinner!
Enrique was are server and Taylor was are bartender. Both excellent!
We were seated outside as requested. Beautiful view but people kept coming out to see the view on a tiny balcony and taking pictures and talking. They would hang by our table and talk. It took away from the experience. People that are not sitting outside should not be allowed to come out and take over others space. Then the food was served. Not good at all and expensive. Would not return to this restaurant.
Seafood linguini and clam vongole are cream sauces not cheese flavored. Prices are a little high for what you get
Our reservation was honored on time and we were promptly seated as most of the tables were filled when we arrived. The wait staff service was outstanding. Menu options were appropriate and plentiful with some creative dishes. We had two very good entrees. Overall an excellent evening of dining with easy listening live music and a great view of Lake Tahoe. Recommend you try the Boathouse on the Pier when in the area.
this place apparently is going through new management and it shows. they are almost 4 stars, but I gave it to them because they are trying and because after the two child seats didn't have adequate belts the bass-boy (tall blond) wish I remember his name as this was a month ago held our child for few minutes while we ate dinner. the food was ok could be better, they ran out of the most about 10 dishes for the mothers day weekend ( so that was disappointing )
view is spectacular and I think we'll be back again in few years once everything rolls out...
A very nice restaurant with a gourmet menu and a spectacular view of Lake Tahoe, since you a literally on the lake. A broad choice of foods on the menu, very friendly service and a chocolate cherry cheese cake to die for. We had two dinners, one lunch, and one breakfast there because it was so good and certainly convenient as we were staying at the adjoining hotel.
Went to Boathouse on friends' recommendation. Conveniently located in S. Lake Tahoe; reservations went great, and necessary even off-season and mid-week. Friends had mentioned good Happy Hour deals where appetizers were half off and we found a flyer advertising the same. We ordered three starters; in fact, two of us only ordered appetizers and a salad. When the bill came, everything was full priced. The waiter explained that only one appetizer was available at half price, but he never bothered to relate that little nuance or inform us which one was the "special". Service slow--about an hour when we finally got meals. Food very good; not over-priced for a resort town, but more than we expected to pay based on the flyer.
I found this tucked away restaurant via Yelp. It's behind the Beach Retreat Lodge on a pier overlooking the lake, beach and mountains. We went for lunch since the dinner looked too pricey for us and enjoyed it very much. The staff were friendly, the food was good, the decor was cute and the view was perfect. We would have eaten outside along the balcony if it wasn't so windy. We enjoyed the fried Calamari with cherry peppers appetizer, a bowl of Clam Chowder to share, Fish and Chips (sweet potato fries for $2 extra), Blacked Mahi Mahi Fish Tacos. The Chowder was not as thick as my husband likes, but the flavor was wonderful to me. The Fish Tacos could have been a bit more flavorful, but still very good. Has a stroll along the beach after :).
Found this restaurant through an Open Table search. Delighted with the find; very friendly and accommodating staff, delicious food (we had the coffee encrusted salmon); and a perfect place for watching the sunset. We plan to return and also want to try the hotel too.
After a spectacularly scenic cruise into Emerald Bay and a view of Eagle Falls we dined at the Boathouse with our son visiting from La Jolla. A good stroll along the beach brought us to the pier stretching as long as the eye can see and an authentic looking boathouse. It had the feel of a popular hot spot just by its location- with lively music and people just enjoying. We were warmly welcomed and seated windowside with a great lake view. The clam chowder was the finest we ever tasted, the spicy Thai chicken wings tasty and the pasta pomodoro quite delicious. Our glasses were replenished with attentive care even with a bridal party at the next table! And yes, we did see the sun setting on serene Lake Tahoe- just a beautiful memory for all!
