Boathouse at Breach Inlet Ratings and Reviews
We have eaten at the Boathouse several times through the years and had good experiences. It has a great view when the sun is out. However, the last couple of times we've been (once every 2 years) the quality has declined. The food used to be much better. Service was good. Other restaurants in the area have upped their game, the Boathouse has just upped its prices.
Every few years, we think this restaurant has changed for the better. Once again, we were wrong. Food was at best fair, very over priced and not great. Service was good. Disappointed, we spend so much time at Wild Dunes. This restaurant could be amazing, but isn't.
My twin sister and her husband were over from England to celebrate our birthday . We thought of downtown Charleston but after taking them down there for a look round , they decided that it would be too busy for them , so I decided to book at The Boathouse , as we live in Mt P ...it was a good decision as we had lots of choice , we had Fried Green Tomato for starters as they had never had it and we thought it was a southern starter , fish linguini , fried fish dinner [ ouster , flounder and scallops ] shrimp and grits and barrel fish special ......all dishes were great , service was very good and so was wine and beer .....so we had a great night
Husband and I went on a date dirong our vacation in Charleston. Was welcomed with complimentary valet. Food was great and we sat on the deck outside. Wished the deck windows weren't covered. Very noisy. You got used to it after a while though. All in all a great evening!
Started with cocktails on the roof to watch the amazing sunset and it was just lovely. Then our group of 5 was unexpectedly called 15 minutes early for our table! For my 50th birthday it was wonderful service and even better food! I had the crab stuffed grouper special with collards and it was just delectable. Cliff was an excellent server and could not have been better. And as an added touch Cliff brought a lovely dessert to end my birthday evening. Big thanks to Decker for a perfect wine! Will most definitely make this our go to restaurant.
We had higher expectations for the seafood for the location. What we ordered was ok but not great. I requested a table away from the kitchen and wait area but had a very loud table adjacent to us so that was annoying. Not sure I would venture back to dine here in the near future based upon the quality of food and service.
Prices were moderate to high but more than anything the quality of the food ordered was not good. No taste - very bland and watery. Also, If you're going to serve plain bread with meal serve something other than frozen butter. Maybe some sort of flavored spread - anything other than frozen butter. High cost plus poor quality of food made for a very disappointing meal. Can't say I'd recommend eating there.
Rooftop bar doesn’t open u too 2pm, we had a reservation for 6 around 11:45. We arrived early and sat at the bar, drinks were great! We were seated earlier than our reservation which was nice, service was fast and food was delicious. I’d go again, I recommend sitting outside if possible, beautiful views.
We had an okay experience. First I placed a reservation that we were on time, but were told we would have you wait 15, which turned into 30-45 minutes passed my reservation and noticed that there were more than 10 empty tables we could have sat at. Our server wrote us off from the moment we sat down. I do understand that we were a younger couple, but he sped through the special got us water and than walked away before we could even place a drink order. He never check on how our food came out (which the lobster was over cooked and tough) and just brought us the check. I would not recommend y’all based on the service we experienced.
Really disappointed in the service and food. Last time we were there we said we would never go again. But the island setting and amazing sunset views reeled us in again. BUT - we will never go again. Bland, over cooked fish that was way over priced for the quality and luke warm service at best.
