Boathouse at Breach Inlet Ratings and Reviews
Started with cocktails on the roof to watch the amazing sunset and it was just lovely. Then our group of 5 was unexpectedly called 15 minutes early for our table! For my 50th birthday it was wonderful service and even better food! I had the crab stuffed grouper special with collards and it was just delectable. Cliff was an excellent server and could not have been better. And as an added touch Cliff brought a lovely dessert to end my birthday evening. Big thanks to Decker for a perfect wine! Will most definitely make this our go to restaurant.
We had higher expectations for the seafood for the location. What we ordered was ok but not great. I requested a table away from the kitchen and wait area but had a very loud table adjacent to us so that was annoying. Not sure I would venture back to dine here in the near future based upon the quality of food and service.
Prices were moderate to high but more than anything the quality of the food ordered was not good. No taste - very bland and watery. Also, If you're going to serve plain bread with meal serve something other than frozen butter. Maybe some sort of flavored spread - anything other than frozen butter. High cost plus poor quality of food made for a very disappointing meal. Can't say I'd recommend eating there.
Rooftop bar doesn’t open u too 2pm, we had a reservation for 6 around 11:45. We arrived early and sat at the bar, drinks were great! We were seated earlier than our reservation which was nice, service was fast and food was delicious. I’d go again, I recommend sitting outside if possible, beautiful views.
We had an okay experience. First I placed a reservation that we were on time, but were told we would have you wait 15, which turned into 30-45 minutes passed my reservation and noticed that there were more than 10 empty tables we could have sat at. Our server wrote us off from the moment we sat down. I do understand that we were a younger couple, but he sped through the special got us water and than walked away before we could even place a drink order. He never check on how our food came out (which the lobster was over cooked and tough) and just brought us the check. I would not recommend y’all based on the service we experienced.
Really disappointed in the service and food. Last time we were there we said we would never go again. But the island setting and amazing sunset views reeled us in again. BUT - we will never go again. Bland, over cooked fish that was way over priced for the quality and luke warm service at best.
First time in Charleston with family. We were just there for a day trip so wanted seafood. Found Boathouse on Open table and had really great reviews. Restaurant sits on the water. We sat inside because of the heat. My parents sat with their backs to the water but there were mirror so they were still able to enjoy the view. Had the calamari (fried to perfection) and the corn hushpuppies (the jalapenos was a fun and different little flavor to add.) Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious... shrimp and grits, fried shrimp, fried founder and scallops. The only thing was the scallops could have been fried a little harder bit that is a personal preference. I ate every single one so I'm not actually complaining.
There is a also a great outdoor area looking out onto the water where we got a few glimpses of dolphins out under the nearby bridge. It was a beautiful area to watch the sunset.
We got there before they opened at 5pm. The parking lot is small and feels up very quickly. When they opened at 5, the valets set up and were parking cars across the street. We wouldn't have been able to park in the lot if we got there any later in the evening.
Our family vacations in IOP every year and we have dined at The Boathouse on numerous occasions. You cannot beat the view! on this trip, we had two young children with us and that did not seem to sit well with our waiter, who's service was lacking. The food was good, but the service may deter us from returning next year.
We waited 20 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. Then walked past 10+ empty tables to get to our seats which were not water view as requested. Atmosphere did not match food prices. Nasty taxidermied otter before hostess booth. The food was disappointing; nothing was really bad but nothing was outstanding.
Fried calamari appetizer was tasty, fried green tomatoes, nothing to write home about. Grilled grouper was good although the sauce was marginal. Crab cake was flavorful and had minimal binder but more was claw meat than backfin as advertised. The blue cheese coleslaw was lacking any blue cheese flavor with one piece of blue cheese. Key lime pie not worth the calories.
Had received wonderful reviews from family m member 5 years ago. Maybe bad night but I was very disappointed.
