We come to Charleston 2-3 times a year. We love coming to the Boathouse. Good food, service, and ambiance.
Food was overpriced. I got blackened fish and it was watery and did not have good flavor. And the two sides were good but not at all the quality I was expecting. Still enjoyed my time there, and the service was great. Just did not understand why it was so expensive.
Disappointed in the quality and portion of the seafood. The broth the seafood was served in had a lemon/lime taste which we did not like.
This is as a enjoyable diner out. The outdoor seating was enclosed in plastic so that was not really outdoors. The food was very good and the service excellent. I was disappointed they did not have bread or even breadsticks to go with my soup.
The Boathouse at Breach never disappoints, and this was no exception. The service was great and the food was fantastic. We will return again, and again, and again! Well done staff!!
The service was amazing 🤩, not to mention the food delicious 🤤
Food was not hot and low quality. Compared to other restaurants in the area it was not as good and overpriced. Wasn’t terrible but wouldn’t go back.
If you're looking for great seafood and a cute, semi-quiet atmosphere this is the place. We always enjoy dinner at Boathouse!
Excellent service, food and experience! Will definitely return soon.
The service was great and food was very good. Pimento cheese grits and collared greens as side dishes were incredible.
We got there just as they were starting dinner service...at sunset. We had great service, the food was delicious, and the view was fabulous. It was away from the hustle of downtown which was also welcomed. Next time we are in town, we will likely return.
Really good food, but a little less than hot when it go to the table. Outstanding server!
Wonderful food and service
Tables were nicely organized, not close to each other. I wish they did something with those plastic coverings so that one cannot miss the amazing sunsets at this place.
I have eaten here for years and years. It has consistently gone down in food quality and options over the last 2 years. How does a seafood restaurant not have Oysters on the half shell? The fried fish is cod... we live on the coast so that is unacceptable. The lobster tails tasted frozen and were chewy and rubbery. The surf and turfis a hanger steak. What happened to the filet? The only good thing was the fried shrimp.
The she crab soup was very salty, but still tasty. Did not care for their slaw or tartar sauce, but the fish & chips were tasty. Wonderful service.
Always excellent food and gracious service in the island's most picturesque setting for casual dining, and sunset watching from the cocktail decks, too.
It’s overpriced for what you get...there are better options.
We drove there specifically so we could dine outside but they had these thick plastic panels shutting in the outside - blocking the breeze and completely blocking out the view. :( I could understand if it was cold out but it was 65 degrees and they had heaters running on the porch so you were sweating as you ate. Our server was amazing - I can’t remember her name but she was both attentive and friendly. The food was alright - the fried green tomatoes with pimento were pretty bland and the tomatoes were either not ripe yet or not fried long enough...the steak was flavored/seasoned well...lobster tails were over cooked...I do have to say that the crab cake was one of the best I’ve ever had with a delicious citrus sauce on it. Overall, not a bad experience but I wish I wouldn’t have drove all the way from Charleston for a view that I couldn’t even see. :(
Thanksgiving dinner was excellent!
Thanksgiving dinner was served. Their sweet potato casserole was excellent. Their lobster tail was overcooked and the cut of steak was a little off for the $44.00/plate charge. Wonderful she crab soup. The ambiance could have used some sprucing up. The windows looking out over the water needed cleaning. We did have a good dinner and we were grateful they were open during COVID and the holiday. We loved supporting our local restaurant!
Great place to dine, went on weekday night and did not encounter any crowd issues, food was great and with the exception of having to ask for drink refill service was great too.
We Love the Boathouse. And their Great Food brings us back as often as we can get there.
They are Stellar in Social Distancing!!
We made a reservation for outside dining. It was not available and we were offered the option of eating inside or going to the bar deck. With Covid and a 3 y/o the options were limited. We did sit inside in a separate room. The server was great, very accommodating. The food was mediocre for the price. No malt vinegar for fish and chips, the grits were dry and crab cakes had a lot of filler. Probably a great place for a drink at sunset - but eat somewhere else.
We visit a couple times a year and again enjoyed our visit. Thanks for the consistency and great times.
The Food & Service is Exceptional. Usually a good & lively place for drinks &/or dinner.
Food and atmosphere was okay excellent. The service was lacking though - although the roof bar service was good, the server for dinner in the dining room was inattentive and acted like we were a bother to him much of the time.
Waiter was very helpful. Great food
Save for the occasion, nothing to write home about really. Expensive for what arrives on plate.
Service was terrible. Food was ok but not worth the price.
The waiter made good recommendations. Wreckerfish is awesome.
Delicious fresh fish this is always our go to place for fish you can't find everywhere. We had wreckfish this dining experience and it was fantastic and as always the collard greens were delicious. Thank you for having specialty fish you can't get other places.
You can't beat the sunset here. Joel our waiter was very helpful with deciding on a fish choice. Ordered the Wreckfish over mushroom risotto with a red pepper glaze. It was cooked perfect, texture was like a grouper. Key lime pie was delicious--in house made. Next time will make sure we don't get seated next to the stairwell. Could not see the sunset from behind it. However, I got up and took lots of memorable pictures from outside! Valet parking .
Fantastic restaurant! Beautiful scenery and a delicious menu!! We ate here our last night of our girls trip and it was the perfect ending!
The food here was not good at all, we will not be back
Delicious fish! We had the swordfish and salmon. Both were cooked perfectly and seasoned just right!
Waiter was great, dinner good, sunset lovely, but the loudmouths at the bar did their best to ruin our anniversary dinner .
Lovely spot. Drinks were good food was pretty but not that hot when hot the table. Service was great
I understand there’s a mandatory mask requirement for restaurants in SC at this time however, they wouldn’t seat us until my husband walked back to the car to get a mask ONLY to walk 15ft to our table. At this point we were irritated. They then sat us literally ONE foot away from a table of 6. I could have touched the woman behind us we were so close. Then when we asked to move, they made it seem like we were asking too much of them. Don’t tell us we can’t be seated if we don’t have a mask then sit us ONE foot away from ANOTHER family. We couldn’t even hear each other talking because the family was so loud. Overall, I was disappointed with the situation. The $30 NY strip had too much fat on it for a $30 steak. Very disappointed.
The view is awesome and the food was very good. Service was prompt and friendly.
