The blackened Mahi was delicious. I also enjoyed the mashed potatoes and green beans.
Service was great. There was a mixup on our order and the waiter quickly fixed it and comped a dessert. Food was good, but not great.
Even with the outside construction confusion the dinner was awesome. We hadn't been for a few years and one of the items we had really loved was no longer on the menu. The Scampi platter - a platter of Lagostino shrimp - bummer. However, they came up with a great alternative and thoroughly enjoyed the shrimp scampi on pasta. Great save!!
Delicious menu and great service! Felt well taken care of during our visit.
Great food and wonderful views!
The server was lovely, kind attentive and funny.
The food was stellar with great presentation and flavors. We had the seared tuna and pimento cheese appetizers and the Scallop risotto and fresh fish of the day with amazing mac n cheese and blue cheese coleslaw. Super super super! The key lime pie was fantastic as was the creme brûlée!
Great food great service !
Food was average. Overpriced to be sure. Blackened fish was bland - needed more seasoning. Hushpuppies we’re over fried and hard- we still ate them though. We saw the table next to us return a dish to the kitchen. Over all it wasn’t bad - but I wouldn’t go back.
The tuna was straight out of freezer, crème brûlée was runny and the rest was pretty underwhelming. Service and atmosphere was great though.
My husband and I ate at the Boathouse while in town for our 10 year anniversary. The food and service was wonderful and we were seated as we walked in. The smoked fish appetizer and the crab cakes were great!
Very friendly wait staff and food was very tasty and ample.
Service (Keith) was great, but noise level was deafening due to a 20+ birthday party. Ruined the evening. As for the food, mediocre. 4 scallops with risotto - $36…$9 each. A bit extreme. Good place for happy hour sunset, though….
We made a last minute reservation here for our family of five. We requested we be seated on the patio area, and our request was granted with a water view table. We had a very attentive waiter. The food was great and service was fast. The portion sizes were perfect.
Food was excellent but the specialty drinks were not that great. I'd suggest sticking to a simple cocktail, wine or beer
Small portions for the price but the food was good.
Went for New Years Eve, and it was lovely! Check out the cozy rooftop bar for a drink while you wait for your tables
The wait staff and food were wonderful. No complaints there. My only complaint was the tables being on top of each other on the deck. The woman at the table next to us moved her seat because we were right on top of them and the waiter could barely squeeze through the tables to serve correctly.
Great location. Comparing to previous visits, food was worse. Didn’t see any precautions taken to reduce virus spread. I probably will go back but not high on my list.
Very small portion sizes and quality for the costs. 6oz piece of frozen fish and two tablespoons of grits and greens for $34. This restaurant has went downhill over the years. $30 for two pieces of frozen fried flounder and soggy fries. Sat on a porch which was covered with plastic during a strong thunderstorm. Last time eating here for me. Won’t be back.
Service was on the slow side however, the food and ambiance would be enough for me to come back again for another meal.
Wonderful atmosphere. Free valet parking. Friendly staff. Wife had pan seared scallops. I had pan seared sword fish. They were delicious. We will definitely go again.
Love it here! This is the second time we’ve visited and this time we took some out of town guests. Great food, great service, all around a wonderful spot to enjoy dinner! Highly recommend!
The food was excellent! Only disappointment was having to sit so close to other people.
Great food, service and ambiance. The view from the heated patio was magical.
Great food, beautiful views and super service!
Wonderful as always.
Delightful and delicious Christmas Eve dinner!
We love the Boathouse and have been visiting occasionally for over 20 years. I arrived early, let the hostess know that we were there as we enjoyed a drink at the bar. Rather than tell me my table was ready, a text was sent to an unchecked phone- as I stood within elbow reach of the hostess. Filet was far smaller portion and overly seasoned with salt. Crabcake much of the same. Waitress was friendly and helpful and ambience is fantastic. Food quality and portion has fallen over the years and does not justify $36.00 per plate.
Christmas Eve dinner was amazing. Excellent location and view.
Service, cocktails and dinner was wonderful. Definitely will be back for cocktails! Calamari needs a good bit of work, wouldn't recommend it. Overall, lovely ambiance. Will most likely return. Would recommend for groups under 6 people for dinner. I'm sure they can accommodate larger parties in outdoor areas.
Terrible!! This was supposed to be a nice birthday dinner for my mother but it was rather horrible. Once we were brought to our table it was shaped in a figure 8. We had 6 people, two of which were handicapped. We simply asked to be moved to another table since the middle seats definitely did not have enough space for two dinner plates. The waitress was there and stated “we have people do it all the time.” That was uncalled for and rude. During the service she appeared irritated by us. We also saw three other families ask to change tables from the same table during our meal. It appears that they simply want to pack people in like sardines to tables that cannot accommodate the actual party. The food was subpar at best. We will never dine there again. Southern hospitality is absent at this restaurant!
First we enjoyed sunset from the roof top bar and then went down stairs for dinner. My wife had scallops. Only 4 large ones but they were delicious. I had the lobster tails and crab cake, also excellent. Really nice option for those staying on Sullivan’s or IOP.
Food was more room temp when it arrived than hot. Wasn’t overly impressed with the flavor of the food for the price. However, the server was fantastic.
Good menus was small
Seafood was excellent. However, the sides (French fries and green beans) weren’t even cafeteria quality. Additionally, bread wasn’t available, even with a cost.
A little bummed...our friends came into town and they were dying to be somewhere on the water. They ubered 30 minutes to dine with us at your restaurant and my fiancé and I were excited to finally try this place. Our server was super nice, as was everyone in the restaurant, but asked us to keep our dirty silverware used for a different meal..it was awkward almost because it felt like we were inconveniencing him as it was more work. They also started chucking glasses of water near where we were sitting and my friend grabbed her purse off the ground (there was no where else to put it). The food was pretty bad. With the exception of my fiancé’s fried shrimp because, it’s fried shrimp..near impossible to mess that up. I got blackened mahi mahi with green beans and pimento cheese grits..the grits were awful and they charge you more as it’s a premium side, I’ve literally had much better grits on a pit stop at the Waffle House..the fish was really thin and didn’t taste like any mahi I’ve had before, I’m from FL so maybe I just have had the best of the best but for charging $32-$38 for this meal is a bit of a joke..def not getting what you pay for and just in general not worth the money..when we left we actually noted that this was the most unmemorable meal we’ve had since moving to Charleston over a year ago. since it was dark and windy we didn’t get to enjoy the view bc the wind blockers were down so, we could have taken them somewhere else to enjoy Charleston with much better food..a little embarrassed they were in town for one night and that was the experience they had..we won’t dine here again.
Great food, but overcrowded and noisy. It was still worth the price and the ride out from downtown. One of our favorites.
We had a delicious meal here. There were 6 of us, and all of us had different dishes. We all stated that we would order the same meal again and would recommend it to others! Great place.
Thank you for the kind review! We hope to see you again soon!
Had out of town guests and they were very impressed with The Boathouse. Our waiter Decker was very attentive friendly and courteous. Thank you for the service
Thanksgiving dinner was delicious! Cocktails and view amazing!
Just the right amount of really good food. Great atmosphere!
We are so glad you enjoyed your meal! Thanks for the kind review!
