Boathouse at Breach Inlet
You cannot beat the view, especially when seated outside. The atmosphere is comfortable, and the server was attentive. However the quality of the food was only average, and some of it (grits and polenta) not edible at all. Food was EXTREMELY slow n arriving. Five scallops for $28 is quite expensive. They were tasty, but certainly not filling. We will not go there again.
We are on vacation. We eat here every time we visit Isle of Palms. Excellent food!
Favorite spot when we are in the area. First time we have been disappointed.
We were seated on time, in requested area. Server was very good. Drinks were great.
Appetizer of fried green tomatoes was very good. Both orders of crab Benedict had eggs that were hard boiled. Discussed this with server, she said she had received other complaints and would replace them.
After a long wait, order came out with some eggs hard boiled and some undercooked, not healthy to eat.
We ended up not eating, they didn't charge us for the food, but we left hungry.
Hopefully, whatever was wrong in the kitchen will be corrected.
Been theire 50 times. This time not do good . Shrimp tasted of iodine and fish was overcooked .
Never disappoints. Food was delicious as always. This is my favorite seafood restaurant. Every year for my birthday.
Spectacular view, wonderful service and delicious food
Great view for sunsets and water and good service‼️Food is pretty good too!
Dinner was absolutely fantastic, the atmosphere was wonderful and the company was the best. Only disappointment was as we went after dark so could not see the dolphins but that was not the fault of the Boathouse. The service was excellent and very prompt. Would highly recommend this to anybody that is in the area and will return next time I am back but during the golden hour. Thank you for a wonderful evening!!
Used to be one of our favorites but the food has really gone down hill. Poor quality of food for the price! Much better options in the area.
Very pleasant dining!!Will definitely go back!! Great service, great food and wonderful view!!
Our service was great! Very attentive without being over the top. Food was good. We had concern with one of the oysters and they replaced it without question. The scorpion fish was tasty but a bit over salted. Overall not too bad but there are far better values in the area.
This is where we bring the special people in our lives. The view, the food, the staff are all wonderful. Got to see a dolphin and had a glass of wine. Ate well and had marvelous conversation. Been here many times and we'll be back.
Great atmosphere!!! Good seafood.
What a wonderful place to eat along the water. The meals were wonderful and our service was even better! We watched the dolphins in the water while eating a delicious dinner and drinking delicious wine. Great place!
This was a terrible place to eat- nice place to visit. The view was great but the food was lacking as well as the service. We got there about 1145 so not busy yet on a Sunday and our waitress was almost annoyed to have people there it seemed. The boathouse Benedict came with parboiled eggs not poached and little sauce to mask it. The waitress saw it was inedible but said nothing. Would never return here- too many options in Charleston to deal with a place that clearly doesn’t want you there.
We arrived 10 mins before our reservation and was told they would text us when our table was ready, we walked outside as their "waiting" area was not air-conditioned, after 20 minutes, seeing other going right in, we returned and and reminded them we were waiting.. they looked confused (liked they forgot about us) then prompting sat us... Food was average to below average. Extremely over-priced for the quality and taste. Server was slow and inefficient...
We haven’t been to the boathouse in several years but I don’t remember the service being this bad. They moved us from table to table because they couldn’t remember which table they had set aside for our reservation, Our server was very nice and attentive but had zero support. The server assistant that brought out our salads actually rolled his eyes and slammed around the plates on the table knocking a fork covered in oyster goo into my lap when we asked if he could take the appetizer plates with him. The kitchen was way behind and our food took over an hour to come out. The server continued to apologize but there was really nothing she could do. When our food finally arrived it was cold and two out of the six plates were missing the scallops from the plate. When the scallops finally came out they were cold. The waitress apologized again, but it was just so disappointing because this was an expensive meal. What a waste of money.
Unsure if I will return as we were a party of 2 celebrating a special occasion and were crammed in against a loud party of 7. Food was great but server was insistent on speeding our service with no attention given to the fact of entrees arriving when we had not even finished the appetizer. My recommendation would be to avoid this restaurant should you desire a slower paced dinner opposed to being run in and out as quickly as possible.
Great food and service. Our group of 6 enjoyed the filet mignon, crab cakes, oysters, and decadent chocolate pie. Wish we were more hungry to order more fully from the entree. We will be back next time down at Isle of Palms!
Great food and atmosphere. Tables were a little close which made it awkward.
Have dined before at the Boathouse and it was wonderful however this visit was a total disappointment! The appetizers on the top deck were very good. The view was awesome. The dinner was the disappointment. The hushpuppies were very hard and dry. The grits had several golfball size "clumps" of grits. We really wanted oysters and unfortunately they ran out. The shrimp on the seafood platter was very good...The piece of fish on the platter wasn't even the size of a dollar bill. The seafood past was good. We didn't feel that the cost of the food was worth the value. We will come for drinks on the top deck again!!
A bit cramped, difficult to maneuver around. I suggest removing a couple tables to open up the space.
I know an older couple that own a winter home in the area, but don't go due to the difficulty of maneuvering the space.
My wife and I celebrated her birthday . Travis was our waiter and did a wonderful job. The grouper was outstanding, and the complimentary chocolate torte for her birthday was a very nice touch.
We were a group of 7 and had a reservation. Table needed attention when we arrived, even with a 5:30 reservation and the restaurant was mostly empty. Staff was pleasant and our server was very good. The food left most of us very disappointed. Hush puppies were very overcooked and most left in the bowl. 2 of us had the crab cakes and did not eat both of the cakes. I will say that those who ordered the fish specials did enjoy theirs, but paid a hefty price for their dishes. Prices do not reflect the quality. My party of 2 had the crab cakes, salmon and one cocktail and one wine. $130 before gratuity. Very overpriced for the quality. I did not bring home the leftovers. :P
Food was good as usual- the Boathouse is consistent! Nice that it was not crowded and noise level very low!
Always good and always fresh and it’s one of our favorites
Beautiful sunset spot. Food and service excellent.
Paid $34 for a dry fillet mignon. I dont even think it was a fillet mignon . I've had many and it wasn't like any I've had
Celebrated my mom’s 73rd Birthday. What a treat. We love the Boathouse. Will def be back soon
Fantastic as always !
Loved the view. Actually wrote a review and not sure where it went. We will dine here again.
Three out of four liked their meals. The pecan crusted fried chicken breast was ALMOST burnt enough to send it back. I should have. Cheese grits raves about. Hush puppies a bit heavy but well received by the table. Think bread instead was a better option in times past.
Been there many times and food is consistently pretty good. Fried chicken breast should be golden brown not brown brown!!
Steak was over cooked and by the time I got a new one our party had finished eating.
Picturesque place on Breech Inlet. Valet parkingBeautiful views. Were seated quickly, but the noise levels were off the chart.
Asked to sit outside and was told it would be an additional hour wait, even though half the tables were empty. Were moved to the other side of the reasturant where it was just as loud. Server came
and we inquired about the poached seafood combination plate. She told us it was the bomb and no deviations from the menu.
So three out of four in our party ordered it. We were served about 30 minutes later.
Shrimp and scallops were ok, lobster was tiny (3 bites)
Everyone agreed that the food was probably pre-prepared , and sitting in a pot of water waiting to be plated. The restaurant and view we're great
Service was good but the food was average
A little disappointing when you go out knowing you're paying more for the ambiance, but still expect the food to be A cut above.
The food is amazing and you cannot beat the view!!
The menu is primarily seafood and the kitchen won’t customize any ingredients. The interior needs a good cleaning and looks very tired.
Our experience may have had an anomaly. Our waitress was frazzled and our order wad screwed up. They did a poor job fixing it.
The Boathouse was highly recommended by a great friend and former colleague. My experience was absolutely wonderful, food was excellent as well as our waiter Dereck. I had the shrimp and grits which is a bit spicy however, Dereck understood that I wanted to try the shrimp and grits and made sure to have the chef go light on the spice as I can only tolerate a little, again it was excellent. I will definitely be there again to try other menu options in the future.
Brunch menu is amazing, especially the biscuits and gravy. Love their Bloody Mary too!
The service was horrible and the fiid was awful we got sick after eating the crabcakes
