On a really hot evening, the friendly staff coped so well! Only one small bar for service which led to some delay but they coped so well. Ate inside and food was well cooked - some dishes not available on the night - happened to be the ones we’d chosen but alternatives were fine. Beer garden was accessed down 2 flights of stairs which I found awkward. Drinks and food for 2 at £54 was good value.

Only judged 1 star because we didn't get as far as eating. Reserved a table for 7 through OpenTable to celebrate a family birthday with friends, confirmed the day before and all very much looking forward to it. On arrival, we were told they had run out of beer and there was no food. Can't judge the food or service because we didn't have any and don't understand why we weren't advised in advance. Additionally, not received a response to my email complaint. It ruined my day having to shop and cater for 7 at no notice at all. Very disappointed :(

It’s such a shame, this is a pub with a great location and should so easily be thriving. Unfortunately not! It’s not even up to delivering good let alone great customer service. Only 1 person old enough to serve at the bar, so always a wait for drinks and on the cusp of rude. It was a warm weekend for March, but seemed a surprise for the understaffed pub. Worst of all, we waited over an hour for our food, it could have been longer, had one of our party not gone to the bar to check up on the order. It didn’t seem a surprise to the staff people asking for their food seeing as with the bar person then shouting through to the kitchen our table number. Food as expected, so no issues once it finally arrived. We are local to this pub so we are truly disappointed we won’t be returning. The management need to have a real look at their service and staff levels appropriately.

We booked a table for five people during the afternoon - we each enjoyed our meal a d thought it was good value with sufficient choice on the menu.

Good value, friendly staff. Pretty standard pub menu, tasty enough and at these prices you can’t expect everything freshly cooked to order. Nice experience overall

I booked for Christmas Dinner at £85 a head. The land lady barely looked up from till to welcome us. She argued with waitress(the only one serving) in front of us about taking dishes to which tables. We got guided initially to a high bar table when I specifically asked for a low table when booking. Then was offered a low table. It was not cleaned from previous sitting. It had a tatty plastic thin red ‘cloth’ partially covering the sticky table with a cheap festive decoration as a centrepiece. No condiments,crackers, napkins or cutlery! We eventually got asked if we wanted a complimentary glass of fizz. Which wasn’t complimentary as it was included in price! Starters arrived after 45 minutes but mine was the wrong order.Waitress took it away to change it. 15 minutes later came with mains and not my starter! Took mains away then brought starter after a further 15 minutes. The butternut squash starter was appalling. It was not as described on the menu it lacked core ingredients such hazelnuts and shallots. It consisted of bagged lettuce a two thin slices of undercooked not roasted or seasoned squash! The mains were at best mediocre school ‘dinnerish’ as were the desserts. We felt sorry for the waitress that seemed to be the only one serving and getting all the flack for the mistakes while the landlady continuously belittled her when she tried to correct things, For example the waitress offered us a drink on the house for the delay in serving the starter which we accepted. She relayed the order to the landlady who was behind the bar 3 times correctly. However the landlady got the order wrong and then proceeded to shout down the waitress and mock her in front of customers. I would also like to note that the landlady was drinking shots while behind the bar which I find very unprofessional. We were not the only ones throughly dissatisfied and disappointed, a party demanded a refund I wish I had! I do not recommend and will not be returning!

I would really like to rate the food but our party didn’t get any! Had our table booked for 4pm arrived at 3.50. Eventually sat down at 4.20, the table hadn’t been cleaned dirty paper tablecloth. We waited until 5.30 with absolutely no sign of food not even our starters. On asking what the delay was we were informed they were short staffed but food would be with us in 30 minutes 2 hours after we arrived. As my son and his girlfriend had a taxi booked for 7 as they were flying away on Boxing Day I asked for a full refund. To say this experience ruined our Christmas is an understatement. Incidentally we were not the only party to up and leave. What I don’t fully understand is they had asked for full payment a week beforehand so they knew how many people had booked and what their arrival time was so why were they not better prepared. On a more positive note the staff were brilliant considering the amount of pressure and grief they must have been put under. Not the best Christmas Day to say the least.

Table was booked for 2:30. We were seated at 2:15 but didn't receive our starters until 3:30. We had booked a taxi for 4:15 as we were told that we only had the table for an hour and a half, but by 3:45pm we hadn't even received our mains. I went to ask where the food was and the manager said that it was being plated now. By 4:00pm we still hadn't received food and had to ask for it again, at which point it had been sitting for 15 mins in the kitchen, as the gravy had a thick skin on it, the food quality was dry and terrible. We had to leave before the desserts arrived. I had informed management that we wanted to take the desserts away with us but they hadn't boxed them up, so I was told we would get free drinks and a 25% discount. But I still paid £113 for terrible service and terrible quality food on Christmas day. Add this money to the £50 reservation fee and we actually had no discount. In total the bill came to £163 when the price was supposed to be £85 per person with a free glass of fizz. No prosecco was provided at all during this awful experience. I will be asking for all of my money back.
