BOA Steakhouse - Sunset Ratings and Reviews
Excellent food however, an embarrassing issue over food service left a bitter taste. We placed our food order prior to an adjacent table. Their food arrived and was served first and was exactly as per our order. We suspected it was actually our food and mentioned this subtlety to a staff member who completely dismissed the possibility and embarrassed us. Our fellow diners started eating but mentioned to the server that it wasn’t what they ordered.
When I made the booking I mentioned this was a special occasion. A significant birthday in fact. However their was no acknowledgement of this on the night.
Overall the food was excellent but the whole experience left a bitter taste. When you pay top dollar you expect exemplary service and to be treated courteously. Unfortunately neither of these were afforded to us.
Hailing from Chicago, I try every chance I get to stop by BOA on Sunset for a great meal. This time it was our yearly brother's trip. With a lawyer, doctor and engineer all present, the optics were available to detect any issues---None arose!!! This place is fantastic, I mean off the charts, I mean what a great time. The vibe is there and the staff is excellent. If you are lucky enough to get MATT as your server, you will be set! The Cajun Steak is one of my favorite, but it was actually surpassed by the beef short ribs this time. Absolutely fantastic. This is about as trendy as LA gets and we all left stuffed having barely finished our meals. We are huge fans. Thank you BOA.
After arriving on time for our reservation, we waited at the bar for over an hour and a half (while MANY other tables were sat) before someone approached us to go to our table. I walked up to the host stand once and the main host didn’t even look up for almost a minute, and once she did she simply said, “we’re still waiting on table.” Didn’t ask another question. Once we finally sat our service was fine, but not worthy of a restaurant like Boa claims itself to be. We ordered the table side Caesar, but it was not made tableside. Couldn’t figure that one out because every other one that we saw was. No manager came to check on us through the meal. Even after waiting over an hour and a half for our food we still waited over an hour for our food. And the place wasn’t even that busy! I have literally NEVER left a review like this before, but after having worked in a five-star restaurant for three years I know that this was an absolutely terrible dining experience. Steak came out cold, asparagus was ok, salad ok, truffle fries ok. For an over $200 meal you just expect way more. Next time we’ll go to Craig’s or Mastro’s!
We sat for at least 15+ minutes before we were even served water. Steaks came out cold. Sent my bone-in Filet back for a new one; 2nd one came back luke-warm and blood red inside (supposed to be medium). Not sure what the attraction is for this place - as all three meals (including sides) were very mediocre.
This place was awesome to my party of 8. My reservation got mixed up by me and Stacy sprang right into action!! She was a delight and accommodated us and boy are we thrilled. Sensational experience and the food was awesome, especially the seabass. Highly recommend this place for any occasion for adults!! Thank you so much BOA .
We had never been to BOA before and were not disappointed! I had read a couple of less-than-stellar reviews, so I was a little en guarde. That went away quickly. Our server, Elizabeth, was great - very knowlegdgeable and professional and friendly, as was everyone who came to our table. Loved the tableside Caesar salad. Our steaks were tasty and the truffle mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts were yummy. Lovely outdoor dining, this was our Thanksgiving dinner on Friday night. Warm weekend in LA, great night to be outside. We will be back again for date night or a special occasion.
I was very impressed from the beginning to the end, young lady confirming my reservation was very helpful! When we arrived to the restaurant, ladies were super professional and seated us right away. Our waiter was excellent, food delicious!
They forgot about our coffee in the end, so the manager comp our desert! That was without us complaining! Just wonderful experience! Will definitely return!
Boa Steakhouse was a pleasant find for us. My wife and adult children enjoyed everything about the restaurant. Once we sat down our service was top notch. The waiter was every where he needed to be. It felt like we had are own server but it was that he was so attentive to our every need or his helper was there. The food was top notch also. We are fans of Maestro's but BOA Steakhouse is just as good. Everything we had was really good. The King crab with the Cajun seasoning was one of our favorites. My family will definitely want to go back to BOA and I will make that happen.
The best steakhouse in LA. Great choice of cuts, from filet mignon to strip steak to rib eye, etc.. Delicious appetizers. And great choices of seafood. Much better food and overall experience than any other steak house in LA (Mastro’s, Palm, STK, Cut, Wolfgang’s, etc.). And the service is always wonderful. Don’t waste our time or money elsewhere if you want great steaks, great seafood, and low-fat alternatives like Bison and Ostrich.
I've been going to BOA for years but haven't been in a while and went this week.
Ordered the MED Seafood tower and not only did the price go up, the size of the platter was about half of what they served in the past.
Very disappointed and will not be going back.
Incredibly attentive staff. Everything we ordered was delicious. The recommendation is the table side Cesar salad and the dry aged meats. I ordered the 40 day New York Strip, which I felt is enough to share with another person, but I'm also a petite person. The sides are definitely enough to share. Great experience.
Host and bar service was outstanding. Our waiter was slow, but friendly. Seafood platter ranged from excellent (the oysters and ceviche) to fine (clams) to inedible (the crab and United smelled awful). Steaks were cooked correctly and wine list is extensive. Very nice dining room.
