I would recommend this to anyone and the service was great
The food is AMAZING. Great service. Try it once and you will go back again!!
We dined here with a group of friends. We ordered a variety of dishes; appetizers, sandwiches, salads and main entrees. We were too stuffed for dessert! I ordered a vegetarian option and it was delicious. My husband said his steak was cooked perfectly. Everyone needed a to-go box as the portions were generous. Our server was attentive, but not intrusive.
This place is lovely. We sat on the patio over looking the river for lunch and it was wonderful. The wine selection was great, and the food very good.
We enjoyed the dinner, the view and the wait staff was great.
This is one of many times I have visited the Blufftop Bistro and I am always pleased with all aspects of the place. LOVE the Tomato Basil soup.
I requested a table with a view, and we were seated in a nice location. Starters and entrees were delicious, as was the flourless chocolate cake we shared. Our server was knowledgeable and make us feel comfortable and appreciated. We appreciated the interesting accompaniments to the pork loin (4 of the 5 of us had that). Two of us enjoyed the Norton red wine, which got better as it opened up. After dinner we walked down to the river overlook, and the sunset view was gorgeous. Definitely would recommend the food, ambience, and service.
My husband and I look forward to dining at the Bistro. Wonderful wines and appetizers! Great views of the Missouri River basin!
We asked to have a table with a scenic view when we made the reservation. Instead we had a table right by the kitchen and also sat next to a door to the outside patio seating. We could hear EVERYTHING that went on in the kitchen including some not so pleasant shouting. Also everyone needing to go in and out to the patio area went by us. Service was extremely poor, and waitress apologized for our long wait, yet we were still forced to pay 20% since we were a party of six.
All of us at this table will never go back. Prices were very high for poor service and the food did not warrant it. This is the second time I had such poor service here, but wanted to give them a second chance. I will not chance a third time, nor will my friends who came along. I personally have been going here for over 10 years and it used to be a great place, but no longer is I'm afraid to say
The restaurant itself is beautiful, and the view is even better. Great food and service. A little pricey, but it corresponds to the unique location. Highly recommended!
A great place with an amazing view, wonderful food and exceptional - attentive but not intrusive - service.
The food and service was excellent!!! Prices a little bit above average but well worth it!! The atmosphere was great as well!! Will definitely go back when we are over this way again!!!!!
My husband and I are new to the area and are trying to find new favorite restaurants and this one is definitely on our list of favorites. From the moment we arrived and were greeted to the minute we left, we felt like our dining out experience was perfect. The ribeye was cooked perfectly and was served with fresh vegetables of the day (squash and zucchini)/mashed potatoes and also the pork loin with their delicious French fries was amazing. We also ordered the garden salad w/blue cheese dressing and a ceaser salad. The meal was delicious. Our server was attentive and made sure our drinks were filled. The grounds are gorgeous. We can’t wait to return and to try other delicious entrees!
Disappointed that we reserved table #11 at 6:00 pm for a 6:30 pm seating for a birthday celebration. We wanted that table because of the view/shade. We enjoyed a drink on the patio, and by the time we came back inside, another couple of women had been seated at the table we were promised 30 min prior. Apparently, the hostess "forgot" the commitment she had made. Not cool.
We love this place. It's great for a date night or just a nice dinner.
We loved dining there. The food was wonderful and the atmosphere was beautiful inside and outside.
Food was wonderful, service was great, drinks were great. The only complaint was it was just a little hot in there, but I’m sure with the heat and all the windows it is hard to keep cool. But we are definitely going back!!
This venue is so beautiful! It overlooks the river and it is so picturesque! I spent this afternoon with deal friends. The food was amazing and so fresh! I love how they use local farmers for their menu items! This place is a must for whatever your get together might be! I was here 10 yrs ago after riding 70miles on the Katy Trail and both reasons are a reason to enjoy this place!
A delightful haven overlooking the Missouri River just a few minutes from I-70. My wife and I were on a road trip and were desperately looking for something other than the usual road-side fare. This place was far better than we could have hoped for. I strongly recommend it.
Everything was very nice except it was very hot in the dining room
Went for Sunday brunch. Food was outstanding! Excellent view of the river. Will visit again when in the area.
Very disappointing -- we won't go back. We have lived in the area for quite a while. Les Bourgeois used to be one of our very favorite restaurants. Their signature gorgonzola cheesecake appetizer was to die for. It was light and tasty and came with wonderful grilled bread that was practically a meal in itself. Over the years, they apparently changed chefs a lot and they all seemed to want to mess with a good thing. Some of the results were terrible. Others were just mediocre. The quality of the rest of the menu similarly declined. So we stopped going.
It is a lovely space with a lovely view. We were married there nine years ago and decided to give it another try for our anniversary. We tried the gorgonzola cheesecake again, which was light but not very tasty. It came with a hot mini-loaf of bread, which also wasn't very tasty and was hard to manage. We got the pork loin entree, which had a hair in it. That completely ruined the night for my wife. (It was just ok anyway.)
Because it was our anniversary, they were going to give us a free dessert. It took so long that we left without it.
We are sad that we don't enjoy this restaurant any more. I can't recommend it to others.
Great place to go for any occasion
Steak was fabulous but the salmon proved, being land locked, to be a bad idea. Worse than my ordering the salmon was the "soccotadh" it rested upon, no bueno! Leave the salmon as it is if you can't serve it with something complimenting and delicious. Again the steak, that was also ordered at the table, was fabulous. Had to ask for water to be refilled with only 2-3 other tables in the quiet restaurant. Work on service and presentation.
Only problem was we had a 6:30 seating time with request for outside with view of river and sunset but no one was allowed to eat outside (it was hot). But the table inside had people who were done but just sitting there enjoying the ambiance. The staff was. very gracious and got us a nearby table and then moved us to our table when others left.
Food was wonderful. Our server was very friendly and attentive and always beautiful views of river and sunset. Very tranquil setting!
Great Food and atmosphere. It is amazing to think of the vision of placing this eating establishment overlooking the Missouri River.
The view is unique and the surroundings are beautiful. The restaurant is not too crowded and can handle everything from a couple to a good sized group. Food was great and has been for years; unique, diverse, well prepared. Local wines should be tried. Service was excellent.
We went to celebrate our Mom's 90th birthday, since it is a place she loves. The food was delicious, as usual, and the view is always spectacular. She always talks the Bistro up, so our visiting family were eager to try it. No one was disappointed. Thanks for making her special day even more special.
It was great! Good food and good wine!!
The food was little over the top for us. Would have preferred a simpler menu choice.
I love the Blufftop Bistro at Les Bourgeois, and their Mother's Day Brunch was no exception. From a bottomless mimosa bar while we waited for our table, included in the brunch price, to an amazing selection of brunch foods for everyone's tastes, it was the perfect place for our celebration. Highly recommend!
After making an early evening reservation on a Saturday, we were forgotten on the back patio for nearly an hour. My party of 4 was only seated in the main dining room after we inquired about our position on the wait list from the waiter serving us drinks. If you’re not seated near or facing a window, most of the ambiance is lost. The food is mediocre, amateur, and of disappointing quality given the cost of entrees between $20-40. I’ve visited the bistro twice, both times for special occasions and intent on enjoying a great meal. However, both visits have been underwhelming and I will not be back, nor can I recommend the restaurant for anything beyond a scenic view and an adequate meal.
Our son chose Blufftop Bistro for our family to celebrate his graduation from the University of Missouri. We requested a table with a great view, and we were rewarded with a table right in the middle in front of the huge windows. We couldn't have had a better view of the river and the valley. The food and wine was outstanding. This was a great choice for this celebration lunch.
View was outstanding and you can walk down to Katy trail. Food was excellent for our lunch. Despite being very busy (MU grad weekend) the wait staff was excellent and responsive. If you are in the vicinity of Columbia, Mo. then stay in Rochefort B&B but definitely have lunch and/or dinner at Bluff Top Bistro. Definitely on our list for a return
I always enjoy my visits to this great restaurant. Great style and wonderful views of the river below. The food is always good. I would appreciate an expanded entrée menu.
We loved our appetizer plate with hummus and spinach artichoke dip. But the service was extremely slow. It took almost 45 minutes just for our appetizer and salads to arrive. Then, when my friend let her utensils go with her salad and the entree came, the server said she would get us more. Five minutes later, still no utensils. So I stole some from an adjacent table and it was another 5 minutes before the server got back with the utensils.
Which brings me to... it's supposed to be an elegant dining experience but there was no salad fork, just a knife and regular fork. Things like having proper utensils ready to go should be a given. Not everyone wants to lay their dirty silverware on the table between courses.
The main course, the pork, was flavorful but there was so much fat on the pork that the serving size was actually extremely small. The sweet potato mashers were good as was the squash. Not worth the money.
Finally, when we asked about dessert we were given a single option, a concoction of a donut filled with wine jelly. Um, no. A jelly donut for dessert at a fine restaurant?
I'm sorry to give such a poor review because it's such a lovely setting.
I was so impressed with everything about Blufftop Bistro. The view is, of course, absolutely beautiful. The food was so delicious. We had the bread service appetizer and steak dinner. I was so sad when the food was gone! We were visiting from Portland, OR and will definitely make this a staple anytime we're in Columbia/Rocheport. Loved it!
Celebrating an anniversary. As usual, service was great, food was good. My date enjoyed the bottomless mimosas during the Sunday brunch. Got there 11:15 and they were waiting for us for the 11:30 reservation. Were sat right away. View still breathtaking. Great Sunday brunch!
Have always had good experience dining at the Blufftop Bistro. On Saturday evening, they appeared to be a bit short-staffed due to local prom night. All in all, a very nice experience. We always make a point of dining there while bike riding on the KATY trail. Actually walked up from the trail and had lunch there. Then drove back over for dinner Saturday evening.
