Only problem was we had a 6:30 seating time with request for outside with view of river and sunset but no one was allowed to eat outside (it was hot). But the table inside had people who were done but just sitting there enjoying the ambiance. The staff was. very gracious and got us a nearby table and then moved us to our table when others left.
Food was wonderful. Our server was very friendly and attentive and always beautiful views of river and sunset. Very tranquil setting!
Great Food and atmosphere. It is amazing to think of the vision of placing this eating establishment overlooking the Missouri River.
The view is unique and the surroundings are beautiful. The restaurant is not too crowded and can handle everything from a couple to a good sized group. Food was great and has been for years; unique, diverse, well prepared. Local wines should be tried. Service was excellent.
We went to celebrate our Mom's 90th birthday, since it is a place she loves. The food was delicious, as usual, and the view is always spectacular. She always talks the Bistro up, so our visiting family were eager to try it. No one was disappointed. Thanks for making her special day even more special.
It was great! Good food and good wine!!
The food was little over the top for us. Would have preferred a simpler menu choice.
I love the Blufftop Bistro at Les Bourgeois, and their Mother's Day Brunch was no exception. From a bottomless mimosa bar while we waited for our table, included in the brunch price, to an amazing selection of brunch foods for everyone's tastes, it was the perfect place for our celebration. Highly recommend!
After making an early evening reservation on a Saturday, we were forgotten on the back patio for nearly an hour. My party of 4 was only seated in the main dining room after we inquired about our position on the wait list from the waiter serving us drinks. If you’re not seated near or facing a window, most of the ambiance is lost. The food is mediocre, amateur, and of disappointing quality given the cost of entrees between $20-40. I’ve visited the bistro twice, both times for special occasions and intent on enjoying a great meal. However, both visits have been underwhelming and I will not be back, nor can I recommend the restaurant for anything beyond a scenic view and an adequate meal.
Our son chose Blufftop Bistro for our family to celebrate his graduation from the University of Missouri. We requested a table with a great view, and we were rewarded with a table right in the middle in front of the huge windows. We couldn't have had a better view of the river and the valley. The food and wine was outstanding. This was a great choice for this celebration lunch.
View was outstanding and you can walk down to Katy trail. Food was excellent for our lunch. Despite being very busy (MU grad weekend) the wait staff was excellent and responsive. If you are in the vicinity of Columbia, Mo. then stay in Rochefort B&B but definitely have lunch and/or dinner at Bluff Top Bistro. Definitely on our list for a return
I always enjoy my visits to this great restaurant. Great style and wonderful views of the river below. The food is always good. I would appreciate an expanded entrée menu.
We loved our appetizer plate with hummus and spinach artichoke dip. But the service was extremely slow. It took almost 45 minutes just for our appetizer and salads to arrive. Then, when my friend let her utensils go with her salad and the entree came, the server said she would get us more. Five minutes later, still no utensils. So I stole some from an adjacent table and it was another 5 minutes before the server got back with the utensils.
Which brings me to... it's supposed to be an elegant dining experience but there was no salad fork, just a knife and regular fork. Things like having proper utensils ready to go should be a given. Not everyone wants to lay their dirty silverware on the table between courses.
The main course, the pork, was flavorful but there was so much fat on the pork that the serving size was actually extremely small. The sweet potato mashers were good as was the squash. Not worth the money.
Finally, when we asked about dessert we were given a single option, a concoction of a donut filled with wine jelly. Um, no. A jelly donut for dessert at a fine restaurant?
I'm sorry to give such a poor review because it's such a lovely setting.
I was so impressed with everything about Blufftop Bistro. The view is, of course, absolutely beautiful. The food was so delicious. We had the bread service appetizer and steak dinner. I was so sad when the food was gone! We were visiting from Portland, OR and will definitely make this a staple anytime we're in Columbia/Rocheport. Loved it!
Celebrating an anniversary. As usual, service was great, food was good. My date enjoyed the bottomless mimosas during the Sunday brunch. Got there 11:15 and they were waiting for us for the 11:30 reservation. Were sat right away. View still breathtaking. Great Sunday brunch!
Have always had good experience dining at the Blufftop Bistro. On Saturday evening, they appeared to be a bit short-staffed due to local prom night. All in all, a very nice experience. We always make a point of dining there while bike riding on the KATY trail. Actually walked up from the trail and had lunch there. Then drove back over for dinner Saturday evening.
The room temperature was very chilly. Many people complained however it was never changed.
Our party was very uncomfortable. I think it was warmer outside. Interior was very noisy.
Waitress was understaffed, had too many tables. She was nice however by far the worse experience ever. I have been going to the bistro since it opened. I hate to see the overall standards change lower. We had a party of 6 and the tip was already added, I gave her another twenty. It was not her fault. Not sure where the manager was but he/she is where these complaints need to be addressed and fixed. Quite embarrassing for me, I brought in friends from out of State. I bragged about the Bistro and pie in my face!
Beautiful location with a gourmet menu. The staff is friendly.
This was a fantastic find! I've driven by here a zillion times while traveling I-70 but hadn't stopped. Sooooooo glad I did. Wonderful food, great wine and the service was exceptional. Did I mention the view? Totally rad.
This winery is located on the bluffs overlooking the Missouri River. Very scenic. The Bistro is located down a somewhat steep hill so not very handicap accessible. Food is okay. The sound level was almost unbearable but it was a Missou event for mothers and their daughters. Strongly recommend a reservation.
Food was delicious. Went there with a friend and we loved the beautiful views of the Missouri River Valley. Wine was a nice addition to our meal. Will recommend to others.
We selected Blufftop Bistro for a family casual dinner. Their website was wonderfully inviting so thought we’d give it a try. We were not disappointed! The restaurant was open and inviting and so was the staff.
1 guest chose the Grilled Cheese Club sandwich and later said it may have been the best she has ever had. Others in the party had the Cajun Pesto Pasta and 2 chose the Creole Shrimp & Andouille. All were personal favorites!
Great for foodies and those people like me who are foodie “wannabe” types.
Try it. You will not be disappointed.
We are four friends that rarely get a chance to get together and decided this was a good meeting place. We were very pleased! The food was delicious and the service was great! We talked about it all night and recommended the visit to everyone we crossed paths with that evening. Beautiful view!
Stopped on our way home from St. Louis, it was a cloudy day but it was a cozy lunch and great flight tasting of the wine! Service was great! Love this unique place!
Growing up in Columbia, Missouri, I had always heard how great the Bluff Top Bistro was at Les Bourgeois Vineyards. Seeing as my girlfriend and myself are both finally 21, we thought it would be a good time to see first hand what the restaurant was really like.
Upon arrival we were seated in a more corner location, despite having asked for a table with a view and there only being one other couple dining at that moment. After being seated, we waited an uncomfortably long amount of time for our brand new waiter (still in training) to arrive. My girlfriend and myself learned quickly that it was useless to ask our waiter for any sort of recommendation as he was not yet familiar with the menu. It was not ideal, but still forgivable.
In the end my girlfriend and I each ordered one of the special seasonal KC Strip dinners and a bottle of wine. This is the part that was most disappointing, when our food was brought out it indeed appeared excellent. However, a few bites into my steak and I realized... that is was the most bland and tasteless steak I had ever eaten. The steak appeared to be cooked Medium-Rare, as I had requested, but there was just something off about that particular piece of meat. My girlfriend found the same to be true for her steak. The sides and sauces that accompanied the dish were fabulous. The wine was also very good.
When you spend nearly $100 on a dinner for two, you expect it to be nice. Sadly I cannot say that was not the case with my experience. I may be back to try the Bluff Top Bistro one day, but for now, my experience definitely left me wanting more.
P.S. I genuinely wanted to enjoy the Bluff Top Bistro, it just did not meet my expectations this time.
A table was ready for our party of six when we arrived with reservations. Our waitress was very helpful and attentive. There was no complaints about the food and my entree of grits with shrimp was delicious. The servings were large and served in an attractive manner.
Had a great lunch with family. Brought our daughter there for just a friendly gathering because we hadn't seen her for a couple months. It is a great venue, great food, great service.
The setting is beautiful and the wait staff very friendly. The food, however, is but a smidge above mediocre. The plastic McCormick salt and pepper shakers on the table and the Pepperidge Farm crackers on the appetizer tray provides a clue. The upscale prices are not in alignment with the food.
Great food and great service. We always enjoy our time spent here.
A lovely brunch and time with good friends. Had the chicken and waffles- Great!
Check out the Bloody Mary - you will enjoy. Really competent good service . A nice brunch indeed.
Nice atmosphere, we had a great waitress! Food was good value. Overall this is a fun place to go for a special date or would be a fun girls event. There was a large group of ladies and several families so it was a nice range of people. The views at this time of year weren't as spectacular as I'm sure the summer would be. Parking is a hike up the hill and would not be fun if it was icy.
We had an amazing server but the food was not as good as we expected. The cheese platter left us wanting. The seafood linguini had more veggies in it then pasta. My dates pork came out rare the first time and took them 30 min to make anouther that was half the size. By the time he got his food dessert came out. They took off half the pork price and comped us dessert so the service was amazing! But the food was not a great experience. Maybe it was just us, but for the price I’d rather go somewhere else.
I recently (for the first time) used Open Table to make reservations at Blufftop Bistro at Les Bourgeois Vineyards, and this was my first time eating here. Let me tell you what, I was not disappointed! The food was fantastic! My wife and I got married here 5 years ago and we had never actually tried the Bistro, we just loved the view and setting (and my wife LOVES wine). After this trip, we will most certainly be back again. I'm not sure if the menu was different than their usual, due to it being Valentines Day, but I got a Cajun pesto pasta, and my wife got the filet. The pasta was amazing. It had just the right amount of spice, perfectly cooked pasta, and a veggie mix covered in creamy dreamy pesto sauce. I ordered mine with chicken, which of course makes it better, but I don't think there's a wrong way to try this dish! My wife likes her steaks cooked well done, and a lot of times, this can be a difficult task for some kitchens to accomplish with grace. Not here. This place nailed it! It was a delicious, fall apart tender, melt in your mouth, full of flavor - well done steak! Kudos to the chef! Dilly, dilly!
We will be back!
IT has been a favorite place for us to go, sits on a bluff looking over the Missouri River Good energy. They do offer gluten free options and they offer a gluten free desert cake that's just great
Great time for Valentine’s Day. Was worried that it was going to be crowded, but it wasn’t at all. Definitely a good place to go for dinner or any occasion.
It's by far one of my favorite places to be. I'm not from the area so when I find myself close by I have to stop.
We stumbled on this amazing restaurant while driving to St Louis. It was so good that we stopped on the way back again! Food and wine were both amazing!
The food was excellent as was the service. Wife and I were celebrating out anniversary. The views from the bluff are amazing. Only issue was they had a light that was flickering all the time almost like a strobe. We noticed other people moving because of it. Not sure what that was caused by. They had a reception in the down stairs that the music was a little loud but with all of that the food and service more than made up for it. We will be going back.
Always good food and service
Atmosphere was excellent along with the restaurant. The wine selection would meet anyone's taste. My fiance and I were celebrating our 6 month anniversary, and couldn't have picked a better restaurant
