All was great except the scallops. When I pointed out they were not properly cooked nothing was done.

This is truly a dining experience! We got the 5 course with wine pairing and every detail was amazing. This is an excellent place to go for a special occasion. The dining room is small and intimate.

Excellent, as always! Food, presentation, wine pairing, service, all unrivaled. Comfortable, relaxed, not stuffy atmosphere. I will try the three source next time as seven and five left me with several take home
boxes!

If you have a 6:30 reservation, plan on finishing your meal by 8:30. We were ushered out of the restaurant at 8:30 so our table could be turned. Fortunately, our party of four had ordered the three-course menu. Had we chosen the five-course, we would have eaten only the first three courses. Otherwise, we had a good experience.

This restaurant, for the most part, provides the quality of food I was accustomed to when dining at the American. That's remarkable, because so far, I haven't found anyplace else that does. My dinner date found the fois gras stunning. The caramel cremeaux was a work of art. Lots of attention to tiny details, the plating is beautiful. The service is low key but everything was done perfectly. The dress is business casual, but you can dress up if you want. Always choose the seven-course tasting, you don't want to miss anything. I'm booked for another dinner in a couple of weeks, and I'm excited to try a couple of things I missed this time.

Quite the event, creative food, beautiful presentation, wine pairings, great service...but I believe they had an "off" night towards the end. Felt rushed at the end because main dish was late, sommelier was busy serving food, wine pours became less informative, dirty glasses left on table, dessert dish picked up before I was finished. Spending too much money for the evening to end this way. But I'm glad I tried Bluestem. For the right reason I would think of coming back.

This is a true foodie gem. The tastes are amazing. This was probably our sixth visit over the past many years. It’s about a 4 hour drive from home to KC, so when we find ourselves heading to the Plaza, we always try to add a visit to Bluestem and they never disappoint. We were able to enjoy the five course and wine pairings and consider ourselves blessed to be able to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary here. Great service and an incredible dining experience.

A wonderful evening with my wife and a friend from out of town. We all enjoyed dining there very much. We had the 5 course meal, each a taste delight. Great place for a special occasion. Wonderful service with a knowledgeable staff.

We have been to Bluestem a number of times and it has become our traditional place for anniversaries. Every time it is nothing less than exceptional and this time was no different. The food is phenomenal and the service is every bit what you would expect of such a tremendous restaurant. We did the 5-course tasting menu with wine pairings, as we usually do. Never disappointed with anything from Bluestem.

It was very expensive and the 5 course meal was all over the place, a very tough slice of prime rib, apeared to be canned duck, horrible, crazy little candies for desert, it was just awful

Exceptional food for those in search of a fine dining experience. Service is excellent and since there is a limited number of tables the service team really operates as a team. Food taste and presentation is fantastic, but this is not for the person(s) that rate their favorite restaurants by the volume of food they are served. This is truly for the foodie that wants to focus on quality over quantity and doesn't get sticker shock over paying more than $200 for a meal for two; without alcohol. If you are into fine wines along with fine food, expect to pay in the area of $400 for a dinner for two. It is nice but will not be on my regular places to eat list; only special, special occasions.

Came here a 2nd time after an anniversary/birthday trip back to KC 10 years ago - even better than we remembered. Tasting menus are creative, lovely, tasty. A special evening again, one of the very best in Kansas City. Expanded since we were last there, view of kitchen is a nice addition.

We decided to try here for our one year anniversary, just to try something fancier than what we were used to, and it was a great experience. Kind staff and amazing food. Would definitely recommend for a special date.

Some of the dishes I ordered seemed like they were missing something to set them apart and make them seem special and unique. EVERYTHING was delicious, but I do feel like I probably could have replicated some of the food myself at home. Was really looking for something more elevated and new. The staff was amazing and courteous. And overall the dining experience was wonderful.

Unbelievable experience with a wide range of offerings. Could easily enjoy the bar menu for a more casual evening but the 3/5/7 course menu was out of this world good. Wine pairings were on point and the Somm was ready to chat about the wine. Very unique food and pairings and a great setting. We will be back again and again.

Great food, foie and brioche was excellent, and the scallops were very tasty. Unfortunately, the staff didn't seem real interested in making sure we had a great night. Overall, the price for the experience make this a hard place to recommend to friends.

Incredible! We wanted to try something new and this wasn’t far from the new home in KC. We are foodies and new to the area so I checked out who was who and decided to give Bluestem a try. It was a Wednesday not a lot of expectation but the reviews were good and a lot of James Beard Foundation awards so that had my attention. We were blown away. The food was prepared perfectly and purposefully. We travel a lot chasing food! We spent our evening comparing Bluestem to some of the finer Michelin starred restaurants we have enjoyed. We compared them to the Dolder Grand The Restaurant in Zurich, they were that spot on! Then the real show started. We had the privilege to be seated near the kitchen where all the action takes place and it was fun watching them put the dishes together with such focus and precision but when clean up time came around, oh my gosh!! If the Olympic had a kitchen cleaning competition. Bluestem would be gold! They are very proud of what they are doing and we benefited from it. Thank you for a wonderful evening and we will see you soon!! . .

Service was a little slow it was ten minutes before the waiter first contacted us. Almost every course was excellent except the pork loin it was chewy.

Nothing nothing else in Kansas City. Service was excellent, food had robust tastes and flavors and the ambiance was fluid and enjoyable. We would go back especially for special occasions. Very nicely done Blue Stem!

We live in Paris Texas and travel to a lot of city’s. Bluestem is probably in my top 3 places ever. My wife and I have eaten a lot of really good places all over the US. The service, wine and food was amazing and 5 Star. I can’t say enough, we are returning to KC in March 2019 and will definitely be back there It is a true gem
