We had a reservation when the restaurant opened. Despite there not being a huge number of people waiting they seated us at a two-top directly in the middle of two other 4-top tables. They easily could have sat us at a 4-top table by the window which would have been nice.

We ordered our food and drinks. The Avocado Toast was amazing! The ripeness of the avocado and the flavoring of the spices were a great pair.

I ordered the Bacon Bloody Mary, which included an ingredient of pickles on the list. I asked for no pickles, making it clear that I did not like them. When the drink came the entire flavor of the drink was pickles and the server never even asked why I didn't drink it (it was cleared mostly full).

My wife ordered the fried chicken, which was under the savory section of the brunch menu, but when it arrived the bun was covered in some sort of sugar (also not referenced on the menu). This caused her to not like here meal (as she doesn't like sweet things).

I ordered the biscuits and gravy which was great and I would order it again. The overall service was fine.

The place was too quiet for my taste but service was good and food well presented, good portions and tasty.

Id guess it would be a different experience on a busier day.

We make a point of having a meal at Bluestem when we're in the city. Every meal has been a treat, with innovative dishes, a nice selection of wines from the barrel and really tremendous service. On this trip we skipped the appetizers (except for the tasty almonds and dried cranberries, which we nibbled as we compared the Picpoul and Arbarino, both from the barrel taps). The Alaskan halibut was great - crisp, light crust and just right inside. The pasta special featured a fermented chili cream sauce and blistered summer squash - a surprisingly light dish with a bit of a spicy kick. We settled on the Bonny Doon Picpoul to go with the meal. Isaac, our super server, recommended the peach New York cheesecake, and we decided to also try the apricot almond upside-down cake with ice cream. Wow. Double wow. We'll be back!

Someone must have shaken the plate that the steak sandwich was served on because the little bowl of jus spilled all over the plate underneath all the food and made the sandwich and fries completely soggy and unappetizing. Also, $9 for 4 spears of under-cooked asparagus with the woody bottom stem left on was hard to justify. Service was attentive and very nice but food left a lot to be desired particularly given the price on the final bill.

I did love the ambiance and the food. However I have to say the server was not in great mood. I found that they were not as kind as majority of people in the restaurant business in San Francisco. We were visiting town and we read good reviews about it. Plus its close to Marriott Marquis where we stayed. Y

One of my favorite dining spots. Bluestem changes up the menu often enough that there’s always something new to try whenever I go. This visit we had the mussels with chorizo. Mussels are plump; the chorizo imparts a heartier broth for better toast dunking. The steak sandwich is huge! Almost like a cheese steak with pickled onions which cuts through the rich protein. This sandwich comes with fries and there’s an option to make it dirty with truffle and cheese. Save room for dessert! I had a trio of cupcakes that are inspired by milkshake flavors! We had a very nice meal. Service is friendly, pace is leisurely.

Food was good, but the kitchen forgot to make our entrees. We waited 20 minutes before anyone checked on us and an additional 10 before we left without receiving our entrees. We were already pretty full, though, so it wasn’t a total disaster.

Wonderful experience w/ excellent food.

However, we told the waiter that some of us had nut allergies. We ordered an appetizer (chicken liver toast) but he neglected to tell us that it contained pistachios. Luckily, we were able to spot the pistachios before those with allergies ate it. The waiter apologized but I think he treated it just as another ordering error.

The food was pretty good, but the menu was very limited for the Sunday brunch I was there for. The service is also extremely slow. The restaurant was 25% full and we waited 10 minutes to even get asked for our drink order, then another 15 to receive them, then another 30 for food. If the service were faster it would be a 3-4 star place for me. The location and ambiance is very "business meeting", so I wouldn't recommend this for meeting up with friends for brunch.

Love the bar which is what I frequently do for food and drinks. This time Went for dinner and they allowed us to order from the bar menu as well. Nice booth seating. We mixed it up with dinner and bar food selections. Lovely wine list. Everything was wonderful! Service was solid, we thoroughly enjoyed our evening

Someone told me this was was underrated, well it’s good but I wouldn’t say it’s the best brunch I’ve ever had! Portions are quite large so you get good value for your money. The pancakes were quite good, the burger was okay. No real egg options for brunch.

They took a long time with our drinks order and when asked they said they misplaced the drinks order.

Then dinner came, my steak chewed like a plastic toy and my friend’s pork chop was over cooked. We asked them to redo both , the dishes came again, my fries are now way over done and my steak is still inedible. I left hungry.

I don’t think I’ll be back anytime soon.

My husband and I went to celebrate our anniversary while our daughters were at their prom. Service was a little slow but I usually don't mind when I have good company. We shared the wedge salad to start along with his beer and my brandy coffee drink. I ordered pork chop, it was the best pork chop ever! every bite I took was followed by oh my god this is sooooo good, I'm not kidding. It came with a veggie side, cauliflower and broccoli, very yummy. My husband ordered the NY Strip with asparagus which he enjoyed as well. For dessert we shared the I Choo Choo Choose You dark chocolate brownie with ice cream and so much yumminess all over. They also surprised us with complimentary champagne as I had indicated on our reservation that it was our anniversary. I thought that was really cool. Our waitress was a pleasure, very sweet and food runners were great too. I'd go again definitely!!

We all loved Bluestem Brasserie. Despite being packed, the noise level was hardly noticeable--always a plus. The service was great and all our dishes were great. The food was somewhat slow, but the waitress told us this was the busiest day of the year for them. We forgave them when we ate--everything was delicious.
