It was a beautiful Sunday brunch during International Women's Weekend! The menu was wonderful! My favorite was the skillet cornbread w/chocolate- excellent! We had to order two! Steve our waiter was so kind, fun and patient- he also had great menu suggestions. Thanks very much to Adam who sent over deviled eggs in his absence- that was a delicious surprise and very thoughtful! Thanks also to Bluestem for partnering w/ "Dress for Success" that was a great idea and an awesome way to give back to the community! Bluestem is a Class Act, a gorgeous and earthy restaurant and my favorite place to meet family and friends and actually sit, dine, visit, laugh, sip and just be. Well Done You! And thanks again!
Always a great choice when in SF. Just wish they had more plant based options. The one they did have was delicious!!!!
We decided to have a birthday celebratory brunch here for my moms 60th bday! The staff was very nice and attentive. The food was also very tasty and flavorful!
It was okay. Nothing to celebrate about.
Very standard menu, mediocre service
Low-key Sunday night for dinner. Although waitstaff was scarce, those that were there did a great job of making sure everyone was serviced well. Kudos. The food here is an American mix of classic with a twist. From short ribs to loaded fries, to fresh salads and chicken dishes, all were well prepared, presented, and delicious. A very specific cocktail was requested and came back twice perfectly. Desserts are wicked and a bit of a surprise - different than described but in a very good way. All in all will make it a point to return when in San Fran again.
I took my mom here for an early birthday dinner after a Sunday matinee of Hamilton. It was a nice walk from the theater. We were early enough to take advantage of happy hour drink prices, and late enough to order off the full dinner menu. The food was delicious. Whatever you get, make sure you order fries to go with it! And they brought out a giant slice of the most wonderful cake as a birthday surprise—the Honolulu Hangover. I don’t know if I would’ve picked it off the menu, as I’m weary of coconut. But it was fantastic. Probably the best cake I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The staff was lovely, and it’s a nice ambiance. I’ll definitely go back.
Lunch before the theater. They were a bit slow with getting drinks to the table. Otherwise great food/ambiance! Have been a bunch of times and highly recommend!
We were spending the weekend in SF to celebrate my mother’s 80th birthday and we couldn’t have been more pleased. Fabulous food and excellent service. I highly recommend!
We have never been disappointed here. The food is beautiful and creative. The wait staff is attentive and friendly. The space is both elegant and comfortable.
I have dined here serval times. Always very good. Hopefully, I’ll try brunch soon.
I think the food was just to sophisticated for my palette. Your staff was incredible.
Amazing service and food quality (during a moderately busy time). Food tasted amazing and their dishes are definitely newly created ones. Come if you want to try something new for a change and if you want to be treated well by all of their staff!
Expensive wine...$35 bottle of wine with a mark up of $85. Food was good although unable to mix & match away from the Valentine menu...overall ok
While the food was delicious, the price were shameless. The presentation was very appetizing, and our server was very cordial. While I was sitting there, I couldn't help but think the rent for this place must be stratospheric. I have had equally delicious meals at much lower prices. That is my only complaint about the place. Otherwise, I recommend.
We had a great lunch at Bluestem Brasserie. All of our dishes were wonderful. Leslie was our bar tender and server and did a fantastic job. We'll be back!
We went for brunch on a Saturday; my daughter likes the restaurant, but it was a first for me. The service is friendly, welcoming and efficient. The place was almost empty; I am sure it was just due to the fact that Market Street was being readied for the parade.
The food was delicious; perfect coffee drinks, amazing hash browns. I did think the shakshuka could have been spiced more aggressively, but that‘s a small detail. Overall, a nice experience.
We had customer entertainment dinner. Table was not too noisy, easy to talk.
Unlike the other American place, all the dishes were very good size for Japanese and also tasty. I was introduced to this place by my friend living in SF.
I also agree this place is recommendable.
The food is creative, delicious and satisfying. Service is responsive, professional and friendly. The atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable. The room is spacious and quiet enough to have a conversation.
Bluestem is a go-to for business or pure pleasure.
Professional staff. Helpful and very knowledgeable!food is delicious and fresh ! This is my second time here !
The waitress was pleasant but the food preparation was very slow and there was no apology or communication. The food was well prepared: chicken sandwich was a good value; burger was tasty but not large and overpriced.
I took a new staff member there on her first day at work. It was the perfect way to welcome her to our team. Service was efficient, pleasant and non-intrusive. I've taken clients and other staff members there before and have never been disappointed. I'll definitely return again whenever possible.
We had a big group. The server was funny and entertaining, very nice, patient, and helpful which will go a long way for me choosing to return with my business group in the future. I thought the food was great. I had filet mignon on the servers suggestion, which was good. We all shared some oysters and seared pork belly for appetizers which were both amazing, especially the pork belly. Some of my colleagues mentioned their food was just ok, while others said it was great. I had mentioned the many positive reviews of the pork chop, and those seemed to be the colleagues that were most satisfied. The atmosphere was nice, and the location was ideal. Will definitely eat here again.
The food was delicious, the staff was friendly and attentive. Great atmosphere. I will go back again next time I’m in San Francisco!
Bluestem Brasserie is convenient in the downtown SF area for lunch. Decent service, decent food, good location. Nothing real special but certainly a good lunch spot.
The waiter was unable to serve the wine correctly and was slow to accept finding real red wine glasses when requested. Stay away from this restaurant if you enjoy drinking good wine.
Nice place, close to hotels and shopping but not right in main area so a bit quieter. Food was good, but it, like everything in San Fran, was pricey.
Great food and very accommodating service. A bit on the loud side but that's what one should expect for a popular Brasserie
Great for conversation. The duck confit salad is incredible.
We were one of the first to be seated at lunch at noon and one of the last to receive our appetizer and then our meal almost an hour later. I was there with a potential client and I was embarrassed. No explanation was given.
Also while the food was good we had some special dietary restrictions and they tried to meet them but missed on one of the items which was unfortunate.
I had a client lunch here during a conference. I was pleasantly surprised. I got the chicken sandwhich and it was delicious.
Best brunch in SF, our favorite place to eat when we visit SF. Cinnamon rolls are THE best, food is fresh, service is amazing. Don’t leave feeling ill and stuffed, quality food.
This is a very nice restaurant/bar with a very good ambiance. They provide excellent service here. Foccacia appetizer pulled pork sandwich, and the burger is all good.
We made a 5:30 reservation appetizers & entrees. A bit of a long wait for the entrees, which arrived warm, not hot. Very tasty. He asked us if we’d like to see the dessert menu & we said yes. Theater was a 9 minute walk,& we told him we needed to leave by 7:00. By then restaurant busier. Waiter brought dessert menu, then took a bunch of orders from new parties,& I could see him in back corner entering their orders into computer. Couldn’t catch his eye. Didn’t return to take our dessert order for over 15 minutes. By that time it was too close to 7,& we knew there’d be no way to get & eat dessert in time. We told him there was no longer time,& asked for the check. That took a while too. We left about 7:05, disappointed to miss dessert. I think 90 minutes should have been enough time to manage 3 courses, especially with advanced notice. We had the exact same experience the last time we ate there-slow service,& ran out of time.
Loved the French techno jazz. Waiter pleasant, just either disorganized or overloaded.
MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS BLUESTEM BRASSERIE AND STAFFS IN EVERYTHING THEY ARE DEALING WITH , WHEN, WHEREVER. AMEN.
Well executed dishes but pricey
Friendly staff; unique faire, well prepared, fairly priced.
Incredibly over priced mediocre food. Ordered chicory salad, Brussels sprouts and butcher cut chimichurri steak. Salad was totally uninteresting and the Brussels sprouts were ok. The $34 steak was so tough that I couldn’t eat it. Luckily I let the server know and she kindly took it off our bill. Service was mediocre and we had to keep asking for things and felt like we had become ‘that’ table. Will not return- nice location but there are far better restaurants nearby.
Food was poor all around given this price level. Disappointed. Soup was bad, pasta was mushy, burrata cheese was more like cream cheese, mussels were the large ones that are not as good. Open Table’s rating was misleading. I rarely write reviews, which should tell you how disappointing this experience was.
Came here with my family. It was ok- not amazing and not horrible. The matzo ball soup was lackluster but the bite of Porto chop, macaroni and cheese and Brussels sprouts were pretty good. Fries were tasty. Someone had a past dish with a mustard sauce- that was weird but also not horrible. The burger is usually the safest bet here.
Went in fairly early (11:30am) and it was very quiet. Food was great, lots of options. Location was convenient and close to bart.
