Wonderful food, cocktails and wine list. Initially, the service was shockingly slow but turned around and became a wonderful experience
Went here to celebrate a birthday during Portland Dining Month. Drinks were fantastic, some of the food was too salty, and service was on the slow slide. Overall not a bad experience, but I wasn't blown away either.
We had a wonderful dining week date night! We got a table by the window and comp champagne for our wait!
Excellent food. I had the Portland Restaurant Week menu, which was excellent. I did not like either of the desserts offered; however, the rest of the meal was excellent.
Would definitely go there again.
We continue to like this place a lot. Our waitperson was terrific and the food was fantastic. Love the way this place can transform itself by opening or closing draperies that separate sections. When we were there, the entire place was open and for the first time, I realized how big the dining area is. Quite beautiful as well.
I wanted a more upscale dinner for my daughters 45th. The restaurant is beautiful. We were a party of 10 and they accommodated us with ease.
The waiter was nice enough, just not attentive enough. There were long periods where he was not viable to us.
The cocktails were wonderful. There were 4 of us that ordered the ribeye steak and 3 of the 4 had more than half there steak left. Very tough and not cooked properly. My grandson had the pork and he said it was to tough as well.
They started playing music about an hour before we left. It was extremely loud where it made me want to run out of the restaurant. We were shouting across the table to talk with each other.
All in all I will not be returning.
I've had many great dinners at Bluehour and they never fail to impress with both food and service. It's a go to restaurant for both business and personal dinners. Our service was outstanding and the menu is always fresh and interesting, never boring. Can't miss when you dine at Bluehour.
Both mine and my aunts food was so oversalted we got ill. Our meals were comped but not my glass of wine which i could not finish due to the half meal i ate which made me ill
Had a wonderful time and excellent food as we celebrated our anniversary. Special touches all around.
We had an amazing night, food delivery was impeccably timed, everyone loved every single course. Highly recommend!
Great experience- great food and attentive service!
Food - Delicious! 10/10
Service - Great, we loved how the chef came out for certain dishes. It made it personable. But our waiter had a grumpy face, nice guy but just kind of ruined the vibe. 8/10.
Ambiance - It was nice, we had asked for it to be more secluded since we wanted some privacy to talk. But it didn’t seem like the acknowledge that request. 8/10.
Noise - It was manageable 8/10.
Total = 34/40 - 85% B
Overall, we would consider coming back.
This place is always very good, and quiet enough to have a conversation. Hannah, our server, actually remembered our exact drinks from a dinner a month earlier. Amazing! The service here is always excellent, and this just cemented that impression.
Blue Hour has become one of our regulars on theatre nights--Wednesdays!
Great menu and food. Not crowded on a Monday but service was slow. Should be better. Good location in Pearl. Vast wine list.
Good menu. Great food.
Had the first meal in years at blue hour and I must say I was very pleasantly surprised. The vibe remains urbain and the food was thoughtfully constructed. Gin Fizz cocktail was retro-chic delicious.
Great food, great service! Awesome staff first time going to blue hour. Definitely coming back. Host was Hilarious
We were at the Blue Hour a year ago with a friend. We couldn't wait to get back. This was a very special evening with service and food that made us feel like the King and Queen of Portland.
Two of us had a nice visit and a very tasting brunch on Saturday. Unfortunately, the ambiance was affected somewhat by the fact that the restaurant was nearly empty. It's nice to have a busy room, which adds to the festive quality of the experience.
The food was some of the best in the city. Definitely plan on spending a full evening here as everything is pretty slow but in the best way! The bread was pretty low quality. Regardless 10/10.
Bluehour is usually great, however tonight they were off their game. Our server was too busy with other tables to focus on helping us. People around us were getting things before we were, yet they arrived 30 min after we did. Tonight was our anniversary and dining at Bluehour was subpar.
Great vibe, delicious food, very nice and friendly staff. This was my wife and my third Valentine's dinner here. Really love this place!
Ambience was great and service was decent, but a bit inconsistent near the end. My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time. 2 problems with the night, the tables were so wobbly and moved so much i couldn't even cut my lamb without making the table vibrate. We ended up with the table about 3 feet from where we where seated at the beginning of the night, i even saw other people complaining about the tables to there dates, also, they could have calmed down with the amount of salt they put on our food. It's like they added the whole Pacific ocean. Obviously I'm over exaggerating, but still, get new tables, chairs, and less salt next time. I'll still going to come back though.
We went here on Valentines Day, so it was really busy. The live music was beautiful and the presentation of the food was gorgeous. There was a set menu, which we sort of expected, but we didn’t think the food was worth the price per head that we paid. The service wasn’t great, as we waited to have water refilled or to even get the check for quite some time. Overall not bad. I’d want to go here on a regular night.
Great, consistent restaurant.
Wonderful set menu for a very special Valentines Day. Food was superb, waiter (Josh) was amazing, didn't hover bit was always there any time anything was needed. An excellent evening, that I will highly recommend to othersw
Went for an earlier Valentine's date night. Everything we had was amazing! Started with the scallops as an appetizer then went with the pork loin and duck for our entrees. Finished up with the toffee sundae. Really hard to choose what my favorite dish was because they were all delicious but I've got a soft spot in my belly for duck so I'll choose that as my favorite.
Food was to salty
We had dinner at this restaurant on Saturday, February 10. We had reservations at 6:15 pm. Our party of 5 was there to celebrate the 80th birthday of my aunt.
We were seated in the middle of the room. Our waiter, arrived and took our drink orders. He later came back for our dinner orders. Our salads came out fine. However, one leaf of the round table nearly dropped my wife's burrata cheese appetizer on her lap. The bus person adjusted the leaf to keep from dropping. Our salad plates sat on the table for many minutes while bussers, our waiter and other staff passed by. When our meals came, the salad plates were still on the table. It was an awkward moment while the delivery people tried to move salad plates and flatware out of the way to make room on the table. We had to help the staff make room and get settled. On top of the the challenges with placing the dinners, there was no silverware, it had been taken off with the salad plates. The waiter took a minute or two to calculate how many place settings needed to be replaced (all five of them). He finally returned with the place settings and we could start to eat. My wife had ordered the bavette steak "medium" but it came out very much medium rare, she could not eat half of her dinner. We had hoped to send it back to finish it's cooking, but the waiter did not return to check in. When it came time for the check, he brought out a check for items that we did not order. It was not the correct check. When we pointed it out, he promised that the incorrect check would not be processed. Upon return to Boise, I sent a message to the Owner. He responded that evening that he was "shocked" and would have a meeting with his managers the next day (Monday) and get back to me. It has now been 3 business days since his message and no response. Having traveled to Portland for a special dinner, we had been looking forward to our evening. Instead, it was just OK, with several frustrating events.
Wonderful as always.
I have a small appetite and always order an appetizer as my entree or split something with my husband, who also gets a salad.
Most places are condescending when taking my order - asking if I'm sure I don't want anything else - then act like I'm a waste of energy. Blue Hour's waiters always manage my small order with grace and professionalism. Thank you.
Excellent all the way around. The wait staff paced our dinner perfectly for our on-time arrival at PCS theater.
We had brunch. It was a good location, quiet, perfect for Sunday brunch.
Great place to go before a play at Gerding Theater.
Disappointed the wine I ordered was out of stock! Oh well.
Date night. Dinner and dessert were great. The service and staff were excellent.
We eat at Bluehour several times a year, and we are never disappointed. Service is always top notch, as is the food.
Bluehour is a long-time favorite. We had the usual delicious meal and excellent service in the beautiful Bluehour space. Our server was friendly and efficient, as was his assistant. The oysters, the radicchio salad, the duck, and the ribeye were standouts. Our group was going to a play at the Armory, and we got out in plenty of time without feeling rushed or anxious.
Appetizers were good along with the salad and wine selection. Unfortunately, the steak was terrible. Extremely chewy and hard to eat. The server was extremely understanding and offered to replace the meal free of charge. Need some other dinner selections on the menu to choose from.
Fabulous, perfect service and food was delicious. Went for my fiancée’s birthday recently.
I brought a group of seven and the service was impeccable. The design and layout were also pleasant, providing a felicitous venue for my birthday celebration. Unfortunately, out of my entire party, only I was extremely happy with my food! Since it was my birthday, that is all that mattered. But despite pricy meals, I am a bit miffed my friends did not enjoy their meals as much as I did.
That said, were were treated with a large round of appetizers courtesy of the chef, and I got a free slice of cake. And the drinks were all great for everyone.
I think its a perfect spot if you know you're going to enjoy what you order, but not the best price range to be risking your enjoyment.
Great for our anniversary. Quiet, fantastic service and good food.
