Brunch at Blue Hour is delicious!
Portland Dining Month menu was spectacular. We have been to several so far (had planned to visit more, but this was probably the last one for a while) and Bluehour was the best. The carrot soup was lovely, although it was not hot. That was the only complaint I had, though. The salads looked fabulous, although we did not have one. The gnocchi was so good I almost wished I had ordered it after tasting my husband's, even though cassoulet is one of my favorite things (also great). Husband loved his dessert of chocolate and peanut butter, a combo I don't care for. I had the blackberry sorbet, and it was very, very tasty. Stayed in the bar after to listen to the live jazz, which was great. I felt good about going because we had gotten an email that they had not only sanitized everything but were continually doing so throughout the evening, but had also moved their tables further away from each other for social distancing.
Thank you for the lovely evening. We enjoyed it all particularly the quiet peaceful ambiance
This place would be great for any special occasion. And since the prices are so reasonable, any given Tuesday could be a special occasion.
This place has everything...great service, great food, great ambiance! I can't wait to bring my husband next time.
One meal was quite excellent the other was quite the opposite... Service was fine although we where never asked if we liked the food. Would not recommend nor go back
The service was excellent. The food average. Not something we couldn’t do for ourselves.
Excellent vegetarian option for Portland Dining Month. The staff was cordial and attentive and my dinner partner and I had a truly stellar time.
Our server Kim was awesome! She was incredible and she made our special night even more special. I posted that the noise level was moderate because it was Jazz night on the 29th of February. But that wasnt a negative thing.
Kim our server was a delight she made everything easy easy easy. The hostess was extraordinarily friendsky and helpful in getting us a table with a view of the jazz band which was our main reason for visiting. Vegan dinner was excellent. Thank you!
1st- Food temperature was on the cold side... last I checked steak is not supposed to be cold... 2nd- some of the food was overly salted... 3rd- Service was ridiculously slow. 4th- in my opinion if a hostess or a server removes a drink from your table it would be common sense to ask if you would like another drink as we just started with our main course and now I was left with nothing to drink (happened two separate occasions !!!!strange!!!!)
I eat out three or four times a week at higher-end restaurants I am sad to say I would not recommend Bluehour. I do not know what happen within the last year as Bluehour was decent in the past... don’t waste your money & time
Outstanding service. Celebrated birthday and they prepared to have candle, and were there at every minute needed. Delicious menu. Thank you.
Bluehour has been one of our favorites for years, but our experience last night was extremely disappointing. The host was wonderful, and Grayson, our server, was very attentive and accommodating, but the food was lackluster and mediocre at best. The gnocchi was mushy and the beets in the beet salad were much too hard. The radicchio salad was acceptable, as were the oysters, but for one of the top restaurants in Portland, it was not worth the premium - at least not last night.
Really inventive, delicious food, plated well. Our waiter was outstanding, friendly and helpful, but not a hoverer. The ambiance was like a private club. Excellent value!!!
Gorgeous restaurant with live music. Delicious meal with excellent service.
we waited a very long time for our food and when it arrived the eggs benedict were lukewarm
Music was great and good food
Outstanding service, outstanding food, and lovely atmosphere. Everything from the staff, service, and food was exceptional.
The appetizers and salads were great, the steak was really tough and quite gamey. The restaurant was pretty, service was nice and well paced.
By now Blue Hour has the status of a Portland tradition. Each of the small number of entries on the menu is superb. The service is professional, friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The decor is pleasant and the noise level permits real conversation.
One small complaint. In years past valet parking was available. Now one must either hunt for a scarce space in the nearby streets or use a local garage.
Well soup came out first. Waiter said he would come back with spoons but never did? By the time someone noticed us blankly starring at the dish our entrees came out. Tried to get wine after a fair amount of time Somali came out and said they were out of vintage. Overall just very sub part service. While I understand that it was a busy night this is not the first vale bribes day on record.
Unremarkable meal. Service is great. What happened to the valet?
The place itself is good looking however the food is not that great. Valentine's Day menu was so limited and barely anything to choose from. Very overpriced for the quality of food
Very good. I’d go again.
We were never offered bread between getting our first cocktail and main course. We asked for a bottle of wine but they only brought one glass. The lamb looked amazing but it was burnt. The crust had a burnt taste. The live music didn’t start until after 9pm. It was good but not enough of it. The wine list was really good! Oysters were very yummy.
My meal was overcooked I told the waiter he took my plate never offered me anything else to eat. We went for Valentine’s Day.
Server was polite but forgot drinks. Very long wait between the first and second course. Others who ordered after us received their meals prior to us. Once I received my meal, the chicken was red and juices were bloody. The server said it’s because of how it’s cooked (sous vide). As a pregnant woman, I did not feel comfortable eating that meal so it was a waste. The soup was good and desert was delicious. I’m just overall disappointed in the experience as I expected more from previous reviews. I rated 3 stars because the ambiance was great and the food wasn’t horrible (aside from the possibly undercooked chicken.)
The food was tasteless! Steelhead came in a broth that made the fish soggy. Our wine didn’t arrive until we were halfway done with dinner and had to stop and ask a different servers as ours was nowhere to be found. Overpriced for the quality of food that was served, lack of ingenuity.
We went for Valentines fixed menu dinner. The restaurant is beautiful with noise dampening drapery. Unfortunately we were seated towards the kitchen where a man stood shouting out orders to the staff. My main portion was nice sized, but my husbands was small and over cooked. The desserts were very small and for the $$$$ price insufficient.
We had a lovely time. Just right for an intimate Valentine's Day celebration. The service was excellent. Josh was our server and was wonderful. The soup, potato leek was really tasty and the dessert, a dark chocolate torte was also great. We will return.
Special valentine menu okay but not spectacular
Absolutely will refer! And will return!! This was a gift to us and we loved everything. Food, ambiance, jazz was perfect. Our waitress Stevie was the best ever!!! And she was so much fun:) We didn't know about your Happy Hour and we want to bring friends to it also! Fabulous find for us!!! Thanks to a generous friend...
Undeniably the best service in the city. The staff are great: our server timed our meal perfectly—not too fast and not too slow. She offered great suggestions and was very knowledgeable. And the food is great too: creative, tasty and each dish is beautiful. BlueHour is our go to place to eat!
One of the best experiences of dining I’ve had so far, very relaxed evening, over joyed with satisfaction
BRAVO
Michelin Star
Staff was very professional, very knowledgeable regarding menu items and extremely polite and helpful all around. Live jazz music was cherry on top! Food was very good, even had a few complimentary treats from the chef. Overall a very lovely experience.
Our experience was outstanding. Our waitress was very experienced, professional, attentive and personable. I am on a restrictive diet and the chef was more than eager to accommodate my needs. Our waitress said he loves a challenge. Our food was amazing. I highly recommend Bluehour.
We had a great business meeting at this restaurant and the food and ambiance was great, but the service left something to be desired. We reserved a table for 6 on the bar side because the bar menu accommodated our group's dietary restrictions better. They seated us in the formal dining room and we didn't realize until after we had ordered drinks that we couldn't order off the bar food menu from there. We asked to be reseated and our current server was courteous in helping us move. However, the hostess told us to remain seated while she investigated whether it was okay for us to move (it was fine) and then she continued to complain about our group audibly to other staff members throughout the evening while scowling at us, despite our original waiter and new waiter seeming fine with the move. We had a good dining experience overall but wish this had been treated differently and didn't appreciate the angst when the original reservation we made was clearly for a bar table.
My wife and I had SUCH a good time here for brunch. The service was impeccable, the ambiance was amazing and the food was perfect. Well done!
I didn’t like the food. The risotto was too salty and soaked in sauce. The pork was so so... however the ambience is a very beautiful classic and the service great. Would give it another try.
Great food in a beautiful setting. Tables are placed so that there is less noice affecting conversation at each table. The addition of jazz starting at 9 pm is an added bonus for music lovers.
Overall a lovely experience.
