This was our 4th visit and was outstanding. It was our 30th anniversary that the restaurant recognized and delivered outstanding food and service. That was the reason we chose Bluehour. It didn’t disappoint!
My salmon was poor quality and did not taste like King. Greens beans were good.😏
Service was mediocre.
The dinner could not have been better. An excellent table; Amazing wait staff; Food that was so good we were still thinking about it the next day.
Good place for an ambiance that's a litter fancier than most restaurants in Portland. Prices are a bit high for what you get. Service was very attentive. They do a good job with food presentation, but my NY Strip wasn't particularly better than other places. However, I'll keep in on the list for a dining option for special occasions.
It was an anniversary that we noted on the reservation. The hostess acknowledged that, but nothing else was said about it.
I ordered the corn soup. It was tasteless, small and expensive. Looked and tasted like dishwater. I didn’t finish it. The server removed my partially eaten plate without question. No one asked us if we enjoyed our meal or if everything was all right. They only asked if we needed anything.
I ordered the halibut for my main course. The fish was tasty, but there were few vegetables and they were not tasty.
My husband ordered a salad and steak. Those were ok, but over priced for the size and quality of the meal.
I left feeling unsatisfied.
The food at Bluehour was absolutely fantastic, and the ambiance is wonderful. Our server may have been having an off night, but my feeling was that we were somewhat neglected by her. I'm all for a leisurely dining experience, but this was excessive.
Overall, I would definitely return to Bluehour for a special occasion dinner. The food was phenomenal.
The dinner was excellent and the service was very good! We enjoyed the Jazz trio after dinner with our desserts. We will go back again for sure!
So happy this restaurant is still going strong. Love the atmosphere, food and service. Glad to be able to still enjoy this Portland institution!
It was our first time to Blue Hour and all four in our party enjoyed the setting and the drinks, wine and mixed.
We tried the four main dishes that they serve, Halibut, Swordfish, Duck and the Chicken. They were all excellent, good portions, great presentation, and excellent taste.
Overall a little pricey, but an excellent dining experience!
Great food and drinks. Our out of town guests loved the space and the jazz band was great for the atmosphere.
Brunch was amazing. It wasn’t crowded. Almost afraid to say how amazing it was because then it will be packed and I’ll have to wait. All around stellar !
Great restaurant- Great wine list. Authentic food and wine
I’m sad to say the food quality has gone down. Disappointing.
Great place, good food, menu was a bit small but overall it was a great dinner
Blue Hour seems to have gone slightly downhill since I was last there a few years ago (in 2014, I think). The service was adequate, but not spectacular. The food was delicious but the portions of my dish (halibut) was ridiculously small. For the price, I expected better. I might not be the only one thinking this, as it was a beautiful Saturday night, at 8pm, and the place was half-full at best. I would recommend, but only half-heartedly.
We rediscovered Blue Hour this year and have been back 3 times. They have been around for a long time and hence the novelty crowd doesn't go there. It is easy to get seated. I hate the long waiting periods of the trendy placed. Here you can just show up and have a great meal. Nice outside seating. Friendly, attentive and competent service. Yummy food. I had their squid ink linguini and it was outstanding. Savory, creamy, perfectly al dente, temperature just right...
Fantastic brunch food at typical brunch prices. Will be back.
Excellent service, great food. Our waitress, Wynona, was extremely friendly and truthful. The salmon and dinner bread was awesome!
Lovely ambiance! Awesome service! Great food! Would recommend for groups or date dining
Food was excellent, all entreees were great: handmade parpadelle delicious, duck 2 ways yummy, and salmon cooked to perfection, but our waiter (I think the only male waiter) was pretty dismal.... barely looked up from his pad, and had the same answer for every question that we asked " it's very good" .. even though we didn't ask if it was good. Disappointing for quality of restaurant.
This place has become just average lately. Meals were well crafted and tasty. Probably the biggest let down was the wait staff.... they were friendly but seemed uninvolved, as in not very helpful and disappeared for extended times. The place was not busy. Maybe we just caught a bad night. We ate here a year ago and it was awesome.... like your napkin gets refolded for you if you leave the table awesome.
Excellent food and wine. Our waiter Josh was very helpful and had a nice manner.
Normally when we have gone to the restaurant the menu seems to be very inspired however this time it was bla. My steak had great flavor but was extremely tough to cut into and my husband's pasta dish seemed like mush. The noodles were cooked great but the rest of the dish was not visually appealing or very tasty. It was a disappointment compared to other times we have went.
Fantastic dining experience. Visitors from Vancouver Canada loved it and were very impressed by food, presentation and wine list. Great "Diva" cocktail. Order it!
Service was super slow, we were two and our food was served at different times. They didn’t serve us what we ordered but since it took so long we ate it because we were starving. Food was ok but for the price we have eaten much better in other places. Overall experience: don’t wait for us any time soon...
Nicely presented food in a large interior space. Friendly if a little erratic service (our waitress was new and easily distracted; the maitre'd who doubled as sommelier was great).
We were there fairly early [6PM reservation], and the restaurant was virtually empty - but it still took awhile to be acknowledged and shown a table. Other than that, it was a great experience, wonderful food/drinks/service.
I took my husband to Blue Hour for his birthday. We hadn't been there in a few years. It was excellent. We had to appetizers, two entrees and one dessert. Every dish was divine. My entree was the squid ink linguine with crab and calabrian chile cream sauce. It was one of the very best dishes I've ever had. Full of flavor. The staff was very courteous and helpful (I have some diet restrictions). All in all it was a wonderful experience and we won't wait so long before going back for another excellent dinner.
Great ambiance and food. Never too noisy here. I ordered Swordfish. It was the best I’ve ever had! Each bite melted in my mouth. My date had Halibut. Good, but after she tasted my fish, she admittedly had entree envy. The Halibut was served in broth with sliced vegitables. It was nice, but could have been more flavorful. Neither entree was skimpy. Nice sized portions. We started with a mixed green salad that was big enough to share and concluded our meal with delectable truffles. I’ve been to Blue Hour several times and based on this night, will continue to be a patron.
I have been to Blue hour literally about a 100 times over the past decade.
Visiting it after a couple of years was a shocking experience.
Subpar food, super salty, with distracted service.
Not worth the approximately 200 bucks spent between the two of us.
I have a soft spot for Blue Hour.
I hope my experience was an anomaly.
Retirement dinner for friend. Wonderful food, service and setting. Not noisy-a big plus.
Another really good meal and service. A safe place to take anyone!
Wonderful spot for dinner with friends, excellent food, creative menu and attentive service. Will definitely come back again.
The Bacon Benedict was outstanding!
Great service, great food and great atmosphere.
Have not been to Blue Hour for several years. It is at the higher end of Portland dining. Service was excellent but compared to other similar restaurants in Portland it was average. At $23 as an appetizer one would expect more than 2 smaller size scallops. The mushroom risotto had an overpowering flavor of peas and lemon and the consistency was more of a rice entree than risotto. The steak was cooked perfectly but the white asparagus were tough and tasteless. The service, however, was impeccable.
We went to Blue Hour as an alternative when we were not able to get reservations at Andina or Giorgio’s. The dining room was mostly empty. It seemed that others may have already discovered what we did—in the competitive PDX restaurant scene there are better options for high end dining.
We, once again, had a great meal at Blue Hour. We were surprised to see how quiet the restaurant was for a Friday night.
This was a lovely dining experience. The waiter was charming, knowledgeable, attentive bur not intrusive. The food was delicious. We all had something different and no one was disappointed. The Caesar salad was one of the best I have eve had. Best of all, it was quiet. Being able to enjoy one another in a restaurant has become rare today.
We especially appreciated being able to have a leisurely meal, not be rushed out.
