As the premier modern restaurant in the Pearl District, Bluehour opened its doors in 2000, with what Gourmet Magazine describes as, "the most sophisticated, contemporary food in town." Guests choose between the elegant dining room or the casual café and bar.
Surprising and delicious describes the Modern Northwest cuisine we create in the Bluehour kitchen each night. The menu is printed daily, so come in and enjoy Chef David Ezelle's seasonally inspired menu.

Disappointed in the food quality. Pork loin was overcooked, dry, and tasteless.
Excellent service and great food. One of the best restaurants in Portland
We often come here for brunch and are always satisfied. The waiter knows us now and we think that’s pretty cool. The $2 mimosas are quite nice too.
Totally impressed by the décor, the high ceilings and the ambience. The drinks, food and staff where on point even though the restaurant was very busy. Best Martini with Olives around! The Caesar salad was huge with crisp cold long leaves of lettuce with just the right amount of dressing and cheese on each leaf. I like that! We each had something different duck, pork, chicken and a ragout and everyone said how impressed they were. Around nine the live bad started playing which only added to the ambience. Would score this 5 stars.
Beautiful restaurant in a fun part of town. The menu consisted of interesting options that should keep any foodie engaged and happy. Each plate was a work of art and the meal and service were outstanding.
Service was great but the food was not... or at least my food was not. I had the risotto and it was way over cooked. The flavors were good but the rice was like mush. Could not eat it. To the restaurant’s credit they took it off the bill. My husband had the duck and enjoyed it. Will give them another try.
The food was good no problem with anything I was hoping the food would be more flavorful and bold. But definitely good!
Great place to have a cocktail and bite. Perfect date spot. A nice reminder that the service industry isn't totally dead in Portland too. Very polished, without being too shishi. Will be back.
Always a great experience at Bluehour. From the interior design to the service and food. It remains the place I take people when I want to showoff Portland.
Very romantic. Great service that was attentive but not obtrusive. Food was excellent.
Wonderful food! Delicious!
We were disappointed. We were looking for brunch and when we called ahead were told they served brunch till 2pm. They had eggs Benedict and one other item on their brunch menu. Plain menu nothing special. Which we were not told before we drove the 20 minutes.
This is our second experience dining at Blue Hour. Utterly scrumptious. From the service to the presentation, to the food itself. (And, I need to give a shout out to the bartender. First time I have ordererd a Paper Plane and they actually knew what it was AND had the ingredients.) The lovely little "present" from the chef at the beginning of the meal is indescribable. So yummy and I could not tell you what it was if I tried. I was impressed the server could even pronounce it. We went to a different restaurant the following evening that we were told is one of the "best" restaurants in Portland. Very underwhelmed. Wish we would have eaten at Bluehour again. If we lived in Portland, this would be a regular dining experience for us.
Love the jazz here. Where we have lost so many great Jazz venues in Portland, Bluehour picks up the torch in a huge way. Great late night happy hour and superb wine list.
first visit.....truly outstanding halibut for my spouse and steak for me. both great flavors!! excellent green salad; excellent NW wines! the cherry pound cake dessert was disappointing.
our waitress (Stevie W) was exceptional in serving us. the room was not busy, very quiet.
we like to explore the many fine restaurants of PDX.....Bluehour is one we can highly praise.
It was a perfect Saturday "date night" location that also featured live jazz along with wonderful food and drinks. Looking forward to our next visit.
Outstanding service, food, and atmosphere. A perfect romantic night out.
We have eaten at Bluehour a number of times and every time our experience is wonderful. The food is yumm and the amuse bouche are little fun bonus treats that are sophisticated and delicious. I would recommend Bluehour as a wonderful dining experience in Portland.
The service was good but the food wasn’t great for the price
The service was the best I have had in a long time. Both of us were very pleased with the food and wine selection. Shelly Rudolph came on at 9:00 and gave us a good excuse to linger. Fantastic evening and totally pleased with the choice
An underrated Portland treasure. They were flawless in every way. If you haven’t tried Bluehour, put it on your date-night list.
Enjoyed the appetizers and main meal. Wine selection was very good. Disappointed with desserts, seemed as if they had just come out of the fridge. Not fresh
A beautiful fall evening with the folks at BlueHour. We typically seat bar, but this time were able to enjoy the sprawling and fanciful dining room, where the service was delightful and the cuisine of impeccable quality. I thoroughly enjoyed the grilled octopus, our radicchio salad (shared), and my ribeye. Perfect pairing suggestion by our server was the 2016 Sangiovese, thank you!
Jazz nights got us here and let me tell you we will be staying. Came in to see King Leo and the band, the set up was fun and believe me people were jivin. Only had a few bites but on music alone, we need this in the Pearl! Excited for next weekend.
We had the best service here we’ve ever had in Portland. The food and cocktails were wonderful. I highly recommend.
I found a rubber band in my broccoli and the bavette steak wasn't as tender as I like for steak. The staff didn't charge me for my meal, but my experience of the restaurant's food is memorable for all of the wrong reasons. The setting and service were lovely.
We made a reservation for our anniversary. We showed up early, but the hostess was still able to seat us right away. She was very professional and lovely. Our server, however, was not. He seemed upset to have us as guests from the beginning, probably because we are young and this is a fine dining establishment. He attempted to remain professional, but his disappointment was apparent. He spent much more time at his other tables. Unfortunately for him, we both noticed these things, because we have both been in the service industry for 10+ years. He did not ask if we had been in before or if we were celebrating anything, which was in the notes of our reservation if he had cared to look. I ordered a cocktail which I had had before at other places, but I did not like their version. I didn't want to complain, so I just had it off to the side. I fully intended on paying for it. When he realized I wasn't drinking it, he smugly asked if I was just sipping it or if I didn't like it. He ended up comping it and replacing it with a glass of wine, and immediately dropped the check without asking if we wanted dessert or coffee. Our food was delicious. It was the saving grace of this experience. It is unfortunate that we were stereotyped by the server, especially for our anniversary, a meal which we both were really looking forward to. The experience could have been so much more pleasurable if he had given us a chance. We still tipped him 30% and found dessert/after dinner drinks elsewhere.
Stevie our server was top notch. She was super friendly, knowledgeable. The food was fantastic from the Amuse Bouche to the dessert. The Caesar salad was well chilled, smaller whole leaves of Romaine, dressing was really flavorful. The Corn soup was excellent. The Duck was outstanding. The only thing was the Pork was a bit salty, most likely it was brined AND salted which is a no no. But we cannot wait to be back and eat our way thru the menu
We had a wonderful brunch at Blue Hour. The food was excellent and the service was amazing
Absolutely lovely place. Great staff. Live Jazz later in the evening.
Have been to Bluehour over 50 times, way back to Zifiro on NW 21st. This was a special time for us so the restaurant did a splendid job from start to finish. Food was excellent and service was tops!
Shall we start with the unbelievable desserts. You have to share at least two, but definitely the pear dessert. It was a combination of tastes that ranks it among the best I’ve tasted. My eggs Benedict was outstanding, with the egg perfectly executed over some tender ham. Two of the people at my table had vegetarian omelets which they said were the absolute best. The chocolate donuts were also tasty with coffee. The atmosphere is upscale but not stuffy in a repurposed industrial building, easy to find. The service was spot on. I will be going back for sure. Thanks K
Portland is a foodie town; at any one time there will be queues outside some currently fashionable places, while some equally good restaurants stand empty. I chose Bluehour for a reunion of long-missed friends because I knew the food would be good and hoped it would be quiet enough for a catch-up conversation. It was all that....plus exquisite service from everyone we met. As a Portland/Pearl institution, it is reliable, impressive, and appropriately formal without being stuffy. Did I say that it was quiet enough for conversation? Can't say that often enough!
Bluehour is ALWAYS good. Beautiful dining room, fine service, and reliably fabulous food.
Falling in love with Blue Hour again, after a few years out of Portland. My daughter had her prom dinner here years ago and from what I remember, it was a truly exquisite experience. This time around did not disappoint. Very kind, patient waiter, our family can be a little picky. Appetizers included Clams and a shared Radicchio Salad, both 8/10 -- My mother enjoyed the Duck and I was truly blown away by the Wild Salmon with Green Beans. Dessert was the true gem of the evening. We ordered the "Trio of Truffles" for the table and shared a piece of their Pecan Pie. This pie is alone worth coming to Blue Hour. Silk-like mouthfeel and perfectly paired with the Butterscotch Ice Cream.
A little upscale nook, located in The Pearl. My father was in town and we both really enjoyed this space. Jazzy/beatsy music plays in the background, giving BH a sensibly higher tier feel. The deco is very clean, sparkling, modern. For food we both enjoyed a few happy hour items, my favorite being the manchego cheese fritters. Also got fries, hummus, Burger and Casarecce. Honestly surprised at how affordable it was considering how the space seems. Patio was nice, as it got cooler though, we moved inside no issue. Will def make time to come back. Thank you to the team here for moving us in!
We ate in the bar, and it was excellent in all ways. The brie and fig sandwich was especially delicious, as were the frites. Service very attentive and pleasant. I'd go back for sure.
Very wowed. Bluehour is that thing than doesn't exist anymore. That neuvo-upscale, Sex and the City, Pink Martini vibe. I was shocked at it's chilled out atmosphere because not only was it a nice visit due to service and ambiance, the food here is delicious. I was not a huge fan of my first drink, but it was swapped out at no charge quickly and what came after was perfect.
I've been going to Bluehour a few times a year for many years. The food is excellent, the interior very pleasant and, on the most recent occasions, the service was outstanding. Our server was a charming young woman who carried herself elegantly was was attentive to our every wish without being intrusive or overly familiar. Brava!
My only regret is that valet parking is no longer offered.
