Bluegrass Ratings and Reviews
Four of us met here for an early Sunday evening dinner. We split the mushroom with melted cheese appetizer and all four really enjoyed the gooey melted cheese over the mushrooms on toasted bread. The four entrees ordered were the flounder, shrimps and grits, jambayla, and the bbq ribs and chicken combo. All four were very good but the star was the ribs and chicken. We also split three desserts, the bread pudding, ice cram box, and sweet potato/pecan pie. Again all three were very equally good. This place isn’t very big so make reservations and get there early in Sunday’s if you want the bbq ribs with chicken.
The food and service was out of this world - I mean by that it was GOOD! We had the Sunday special of 1/2 fried chicken, The chicken was the size of a small turkey. We took half home and had a great Monday meal. Also try the artichoke fritters - they melt in your mouth!!
We miss the Davis Street Fish Market. Bluegrass is a worthy substitute in terms of Southern cuisine, high quality, good prices, great service, but even better beer and wine choices. Plus, there are more than enough other cuisines! My chicken gumbo was fantastic and crawfish etouffee was outstanding. My wife loved her Caesar salad and salmon entree. There is so much to choose from, we will be back soon! We loved it!
Our friends choose Bluegrass for a birthday dinner. We’ve dined there before, but not recently. After our visit though, we’ll definitely be back soon. There were several other entrees on the menu we want to try plus our server hit all the right notes. It was a delightful evening.
Bluegrass never disappoints! We went for our anniversary and they surprised us with a little creme brulee and tasty ice cream afterward! That was our first time trying creme brulee, so it was even more special than they knew :) We got the corned beef platter and the pulled pork sandwich (or fav's) and they were amazing AS ALWAYS. I also had the small version of the fried calamari appetizer and was surprised at how large the portion was! You definitely get your money's worth. Love this place!
Since we discovered Bluegrass about 6 weeks ago, we have eaten there three times. It has been excellent every time. The ribs are my favorite dish, but I also enjoyed the pulled pork and the shrimp and grits. The service has been excellent. The waitstaff is even very nice to our two-year-old granddaughter.
We had know of Bluegrass from friends and their recommendations. We went for our first time to celebrate our wedding anniversary. From the hostess to our server, the staff could not have been any nicer. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and look forward to going back again.
Booked the reservation 3 weeks in advance and still couldn't get the time I wanted. We waited almost 30 minutes to be seated which was a bit annoying but they compensated us with a free appetizer. People just love this place and don't want to leave.
The food is great and once we were seated, the service was excellent.
We were lucky enough to make our first visit on a Sunday. Sunday they have their smoked special.. ribs, chicken, and smoked corned beef... all of which was succulent. My wife ordered the jambalaya and ribs which she raved about. We both ordered shots of gumbo well worth the $1.95 per shot. They allowed is too modify which sides so I traded the taters for shrimp risotto and my wife switched one of her sides to cheese grits. Both were very good and the server was very helpful in letting us change the sides. For dessert my wife had the mini bread pudding and I had the sweet potato pecan pie. The mini bread pudding was an ample portion and the pie was a great sweet potato pie.
All in all, the food was great and the service was very helpful. The place is small so come early and have reservations.
Decided on Bluegrass from the great reviews we read. We picked up our son at Lake Forest College -his first birthday away at school-and headed over to Bluegrass which lived up to its boast of good Southern comfort BBQ and food. We left full and happy. My son enjoyed his ribs-licking off every last bit!
The orange shrimp appetizer was so good, as was the southwest salad. The ribs are good- not fall off the bone but more chewy and good. We also tried the chicken with artichoke and it was different and really good. Even though the crawfish etoufille has gotten good reviews, our kids have gotten it, and thought it was terrible- very fishy and would not recommend.
This was our first visit here and we will definitely be back. First our table was ready on time our server was prompt courteous and smiling. The owner / manager visited our table twice and really talked with us and cared that we were there. The food was excellent. I had the Sweinhoxen and it was just like in Germany. The free birthday dessert was huge chocolate and great.
Conducted our monthly Healthcare Businesswoman Association mentoring circle meeting at Bluegrass tonight. Phenomenal food and service. The presentation and delicious taste of the 4 unique dishes served to our table knocked our socks off. The snotini and fancy wine and water pours were exceptional. The coup de gras was the bananas foster served in a giant martini glass. A memorable meal for a unique group of women. Lots of energy on a Tuesday night. Every table was filled at 5:30 pm. Love, love, love this place, especially the caring owners and outstanding staff. Will definitely come back time and time again.
This was our first visit. We were driving down from Milwaukee to meet up with a friend who was in Deerfield on business. (Actually the friend is a man who lived with us as a foreign exchange student in 1990-91 and now lives in Memphis) We needed to find a place close to where he was and within easy reach of Milwaukee, also one that had several vegetarian choices on the menu. We found Bluegrass to be very appealing. Our service was wonderful, the food was delicious and interesting (no bar service for us that night) and it was a fun and lively spot to sit for a couple hours and enjoy dinner together. We will go back next time we're in the area and would definitely recommend Bluegrass to others.
We went to bluegrass for the first time and the food was excellent! Everyone in our party enjoyed it. The grouper was outstanding and if you like shrimp and grits, which I do !, it was also outstanding. The noise level was pretty high and the ambiance is not overly inviting but we would not hesitate to go again (even though it's an hour drive for us) ! Delicious. Excellent seafood and worth the drive.
This was our first time at Bluegrass. We were celebrating my wife's birthday. We had our granddaughter and daughter with us.
The food and service were top notch. We all went the seafood route. The three shrimp dishes we tried were excellent, and the gentleman who served us did a great job.
We plan to go back to Bluegrass many times in the future.
