This garden restaurant is in a hotel...free valet parking, which is great in downtown Portland. Environment was perfect for quiet lunch with friends or business meetings. A nice oasis from tourist chaos. Food was very good although stark with no garnishes or extras on plates. A good find for us.

Found this place by accident and it was fabulous! Sat outside by a small fountain for a quiet dinner. Food was absolutely delicious from the grilled romaine salad, tender short rib and luscious tiramisu. Waiter was helpful and friendly. Would recommend this restaurant highly.

Based on other open table reviews, I expected much better food and service at a fine dining establishment. The lounge area is essentially in the small dining room and dining outside was out since it was raining. The lounge makes the restaurant noisy. The food was good, but swordfish entree had odd seasoning, especially curry on risotto which tasted like curry powder was sprinkled on it. Appetizers on the other hand were quite good, especially burata salad and fish chowder. The best part of the meal were the desserts. Service, on the other hand, was fair. We were treating our friends whom we were visiting; and though they enjoyed it, it was not up to my standards.

Everyone here was so warm and friendly and accommodating. We had hoped to eat in the garden but it rained so we sat next to the window looking onto the garden. The food was wonderful, service was excellent and we had such a great evening there.

We needed a restaurant for dinner on what turned out to be Friday night of "camp week", when families bring their kids to Maine for camp, and go out for one last dinner together. None of our usual choices in Portland were available, so we chose Eve's. Expectations were modest, since, well, it's in a hotel.

Weather was nice so we ate outdoors in the courtyard. Everything was excellent. Great food, served promptly. Attentive wait staff - there when we wanted them, and out of the way when we didn't. Plenty of choices on the wine list, by the glass or bottle. And the prices were not as inflated as a typical hotel restaurant.

We'll be back.

I live in Portland, and am frequently guilty of forgetting about Eve's great patio. Inside, it's your basic high-end hotel dining spot, but it boasts a cute enclosed garden patio, great for lunch and (I assume) dinner. The menu isn't lengthy, but provides a number of great options for meat-eaters and vegetarians alike. Upscale enough for a business meal, but not stifling--great for enjoying the lunch hour during the workday, too.

We had a very nice dinner at Eve's. The wine was excellent. The salad and main course were well prepared and presented. Desert was particularly good. I suspect eating outside would be particularly good, but the weather would not cooperate the night we were there.

Eve's at the Garden is located in the Portland Harbor Hotel. The outside is not open yet, but when it gets warmer, it will be a great outdoor dining experience. The food was great and the servers were knowledgeable, although a bit busy. All four of us enjoyed our meals, which were excellent. Will definitely go there again.

Food and service were very good and the ambiance was excellent. Would like to go back for drinks…
Front of house lacks polish and finess. Was taken aback when hostess said she had no record of reservation though I confirmed on Opentable. There was plenty of room, but still not the best way to handle it, especially in front of my guest who was less than impressed. Didn't bother to correct herself either. Polish should be part of the deal at this level.

This restaurant is in the Portland Harbor Hotel and is a true gem. The food is superb both for dinner and breakfast. We understand that they just changed chefs and people do not seem to know what a fabulous place this is. The menu is very creative. Look it up. The top restaurant in the city, Fore Street, can't hold a candle to this place. It is a beautiful restaurant in all ways, and I would recommend it highly at any time Enjoy.

I had heard only fantastic reviews of this restaurant but was a bit disappointed upon going for the first, and what will be, the last time. From what I had heard, I expected a nicely decorated restaurant but it was really just the hotel lobby bar. It was extremely loud. I also thought the waiters were too familiar in addressing us. The garden had been rated highly also, but it didn't seem like anything special - none of the tables were set and there was practically no lighting. Perhaps they weren't expecting anyone to sit out there. My father and his companion sat in upholstered chairs but the two wood chairs they gave to me and my husband were too low for the table. I really wish I had asked to change tables.

We have eaten at Eve's during the winter and the interior dining space has been charming and very conducive to good conversation. The food is always wonderful and the wine list is fine. This summer we ate in the garden, also lovely. Very attractive plantings and a location away from street noise make it a very relaxing spot. Quiet fountain in the background, muted lighting. If anyone in your party has trouble hearing in restaurants Eve's is a great option. The service at Eve's has always been excellent, indoors or out.

Absolutely delicious! Service was fantastic. My husband had the cod-delicious! I had one of the vegetarian entrees-lentils and mushrooms with spaghetti squash pancakes...one if the best meals I have had. Trio of creme brulees for dessert. Hotel restaurants are usually mediocre but this was a great meal. Highly recommend it...we wish we lived in Portland so we could come here every week!

We went for Sunday brunch at noon. They stopped serving breakfast at 11:30. Server was apparently new and not well trained. Left spill on the table, never checked on us, didn't refil water and forgot to bring coffee. The room is very nice and the outdoor seating looked appealing but overall experience disappointing

It was a very relaxed evening - service was slow, but very relaxed, and we never went without drink - once we let them know we needed to go to a show and were running out of time they pciked up the pace of food delivery and service, so I think part of the attraction and restaurant goal is a nice relaxed evening. You feel like you are in someone's home - there was lots of distance between tables, and very nice atmosphere. It was not noisy, like some restaurants, and the food was very good. If you want to go somewhere for good food and a chance to really talk with your dinner guests, I'd recommend Eve's. We were a little hesitant because it is a hotel restaurant, but I'd go back again.

Very pleasant, quiet, excellent for a real conversation or couple celebration. Foor was innovative, but also satisfying. Service was really good. We were surprised a hotel food outlet would be this good.

Very dissapointing first visit. On a Friday mid-August night when most of Portland's restaurants were fully booked (which is why we decided to give it a try), Eve's was empty. We ate in the garden patio - a magical spot. The food, howevet, was not. Our entrees were not very good. Mushy paella with mushy sole (not something you usually associate with this Spanish classic) and none of the advertised shrimp. No crunch, no taste. The same with the scallops. They were semi-gelatinous, although on a tasty bed of polenta. We will not return.

We didn't eat there because they were having a private party on the patio. The patio is the only reason to go there. They should post that on Open Table, if they're having a private party.

What a disappointment. THe food was very good BUT the noise at the bar was SOOO loud we had to shout at our guests to be heard. We were told that this is a group that gathers every Thursday .
One of the reasons this occurs is that the bar is NOT seperated from the dining area.
Anyone making a reservation for dinner should be told about this gathering from 5-7:00+ pm.
Am not sure I would recommend this to anyone as a "dining'experience

Tri-Tip Steak was inedible. Bar Lobster roll wasn't good either. Too watery. Too bad because it is a nice atmosphere. Waiter handled it nicely.

This rating is "less" than our usual. Restaurant week and a local concert brought in some unexpected walk-ins (restaurant understaffed that night). Service was slower than usual and noise level was louder than usual.

Tuesday evening on restaurant week was not busy, but staff seemed overwhelmed and disorganized. Appetizers were good, entrees mediocre, excellent wine pairings. I'll give it another chance but I was a bit disappointed with the meal & service.
