   In terms of culinary excellence, we think this is the best restaurant in Edwardsville, and it would easily make the top 10 in St. Louis. Chef has met with us several times, knows her stuff. Service is also outstanding, we had Riley last night and she is the best of the best. Monday openings are new, and the Monday menu is limited but remarkably inexpensive, elegantly prepared small plates are six or seven dollars. We will go back again and again. Our favs, the Tempura Shrimp with Kimchi Rice, salmon tacos, Nashville hot cod (not currently on the menu).

   Another excellent evening! Glad to see a full dining room. I know there are many dining choices in Edwardsville, but BV is a stand out in the fine dining category. Highly recommend!

   Two couples shared four small plates and then each couple shared the Tempura shrimp with Kimchi fried rice and a side of the Tempura shrimp with hot honey. Tempura shrimp were huge but tender. Kimchi fried rice is unique and spicy and one of our favorites. Small plates in order of preference: duck tacos, deviled eggs, tuna crudo (very spicy), and bacon fat cornbread. The first three were very close, and we would order all again, but the cornbread was a distant fourth. Cocktails, as always, were excellent and they have a nice whisky selection. Service was the downfall. Very slow. Our server was either new, poorly trained, or just didn’t care (or some of all). Inattentive, did not refill water, had to ask for the check. We were there two hours, about 20 to 30 minutes longer than necessary. Third time here. Love the restaurant. We will be back, but hopefully we will have a different server.

   A beautiful location overall. Very clean and elegant decor and color scheme. Service was excellent from the moment we walked in the door. We were a little early for our reservation, but they were able to accommodate right away. We had three small plates that were all excellent. For our main dishes we had the Duck Ramen and Pork Belly. Both were wonderful. We will definitely be back!

   Food was so tasty and different from anywhere else in the city. Loved the quieter atmosphere and the restaurant is decorated very tastefully. Our server was very attentive and made great recommendations. We really enjoyed the whole dining experience at Blue Violet.

   The server was the absolute worst. He got our order and bill wrong. Not personable. Absent. Didn’t /couldn’t answer questions about the menu. Dessert was an over cooked, dried up funnel cake??!!

   Food was good, not great for the price. I was disappointed that the trout plate was described as very boney and they did not debone it. I felt rushed by my server despite the fact that the restaurant was empty when I arrived and I had a reservation. This was my second visit and though it was better than my first time, it still was not worth the money. I won’t be back anytime soon.

    Sadly the service was so bad that it over shadowed all things. Hostess acted like she wasn’t gonna be able to seat us when there was 10 open tables and we were three minutes before our reservation. She finally came back and said oh we’re just gonna sit you on a four top. I’m OK with that part, she’s probably new. The waiter was terrible. I’m not sure if he was high or just oblivious to what was going on. I ordered a drink and he forgot. 10 minutes later my husband flags him down and reminds him that I had ordered a drink and he had no clue what it was or that I had order it, mind you he took the order. The table next to us had to flag him down three times to get their bill. Once was discreetly, once waving his hand and the final time, he had to wave his napkin. The food wasn’t that great either. The pickles appetizer literally had three tasteless soft pickles. My steak dish had two pieces that I was unable to chew. Not sure if the cut was cheap or they didn’t butcher it correctly.     The restaurant is understated and classy, but not fussy. The food was delicious. The waiter was attentive and friendly. I asked for his recommendation for dessert, and what he suggested was fabulous. I would go there again.

    We chose to try the small plates and were not disappointed. The cauliflower was outstanding. I would have eaten them off of a flip-flop they were so good. The duck tacos also were delicious. Just enough of everything in one bite without each ingredient overwhelming the other. Also the 5 dishes were more than enough food. The mussels, tempura shrimp and cornbread were all worthy. My daughter also had a cranberry 75 cocktail that she said was excellent. Yes, the prices are more celebratory than an every night occasion. But no more than you'd pay for a fine dining experience in St. Louis.

    My guest ordered a burger medium well. Came back medium rare, sent it back to the kitchen, it came back with the edges torched but inside still pink. They took it off the check but it was inedible. All around slow service, server hard to find. Hostess and bar staff were great.

    Second visit. Nick provided excellent service. Cocktails where excellent as always as was the Frank Family Chardonnay. Duck tacos and deviled eggs were very good appetizers. Special onion soup was good. Entrees of Tempura shrimp with fried rice and the special scallops were outstanding. Even though the scallops were seared perfectly, the shrimp tempura won the night. Visits from both the owner and the head chef (Jeanna?) made the night. We will be back and bring our friends.

    Food is good, service is attentive, but if they offer you one or the round tables, I would recommend that you ask for a different one - I find them too small for anything except drinks and snacks - a full dinner plate and a drink is not comfortable.

    when we walked in the whole place smelled of fish, this would be a cleaning issue. i had the chicken plate and it was delicious, the only issue was the rice was only luke warm. my wife had the steak and it was pretty good.

    Lovely setting, excellent service, well-prepared and presented food. Would highly recommend tossing the paper menus each time a patron used them or laminate for reuse. Ours was obviously used, crinkled, water stained, detracted from the experience. Overall, really enjoyed the ambiance and the food.

    The signature cocktails are excellent. My husband ordered the mussels for his entree. They were delicious. I had the trout that was served on a carrot purée with broccolini. The presentation and taste were exceptional. I would highly recommend both of those entrees. Our server was attentive and courteous. We look forward to returning.

    This was our first visit and we’d definitely go again. The cauliflower appetizer was beyond delicious. I had the duck entree and is was amazing. My only complaint is that the skin was soggy and one of the best things about restaurant duck is crispy skin! I’d order it again but make a point of requesting crispy skin. The chocolate and PB Tres Leches cake was fabulous as well. Our server was great and both a manager and a chef came out to check on us and ask how things were, which was really nice!

    A wonderful meal. The menu had many delicious options. I chose the Rocket pork which was a great choice for my entree. My husband loved the duck entree, cooked perfectly. We started with delicious salads. We both like arugula and both salads had this delicious green. I had the fall salad, the best salad I’ve had in a long time. My husband enjoyed the beet salad as much as I enjoyed mine. The Cranberry French 75 was a delicious starter for a great meal. Service was great and we will be back.

    Shared a few small plates and one large plate (fried rice) The pickles and tuna en croute were good. The fried rice was very good, but I never appreciate tales left on the shrimp especially when they are tempura battered and incorporated into the dish. The menus is a little limited, but we plan to come back to see if it changes with the season. Great Bourbon selection and (mostly) reasonably priced.

    We love this place. The space is really pretty and the service of the staff is well timed, incredibly professional and friendly. The food is on the pricier side but every dish we have had is very well plated and the flavors are always a wonderful mix.

    First time and it was memorable! Manhattans were very good! We had deviled eggs and shrimp tempura which both were excellent.
