Blue Stem
Third time trying this place and it is three stikes and you are out! Same poor service as the past two times, this time accompanied by a limp lettuce ceasar salad, overcooked "medium-rare" burger, very stale carrot cake for desert, and a barely warm cup of coffee. At this time of year, with the sun setting well before dinner time, the stunning views this place has to offer in the summer are absent so even the atmosphere didn't offer any appeal. Not coming back.
Beautiful view!!! Very good service! Very good food!!
Really enjoyed ourselves. We just discovered you about a
week and half ago. Will be back again in the spring!
Our party of 6 genuinely enjoyed the experience. The service was friendly and prompt, the food was good and the atmosphere was great. I would recommend the restaurant to all.
The food was exceptionally good. Will be coming back and telling friends about this gem of a restaurant!
Beautiful view, great service, and the food was amazing!
I can’t really speak to the noise level as we were the only customers in the restaurant at that time.
Our first time here, and it was enjoyable. Great location/view. Good food. There were a number of staff standing around the bar who were quite loud.
We had a great first visit to Blue Stem. We took advantage of the patio on a beautiful afternoon. Kristin’s service was spot on, as was her wine recommendation. We look forward to going again!
As always outstanding see goggle review.
The server was very good. The service was good halfway through, then she got really busy, so it slowed down considerably. I do not blame the server for that. I feel there wasn’t enough help.
The ambiance would have gotten a higher rating, but the noise level from other patrons brought that score down. As soon as we walked in, it was extremely loud and continued during our entire meal.
The food was good.
Great steak and service was wonderful!
Cool concept that just didn't pan out. Over priced for what you get. We started with the Margherita flat bread which was very watery and mushy. Followed with the lemon basil pork chops (the broccoli seemed to be the only thing on the plate with any flavor) and the pineapple chicken (much better) but overall was okay. The view was nice but overall was a little overpriced for the quality.
excellent food and wine selection
Lovely spot with a beautiful view. We sat outside which affords the best view and quiet dining. (It’s rather loud inside.) I ordered the salmon dish with sautéed cabbage and fingerling potatoes. It was outstanding! My husband ordered the pasta special with meatballs and marinara and loved it. Out waitress did a fine job and we enjoyed the slow pace of the food delivery while chatting and watching the glowing view as the sun set behind the restaurant.
Everything was good except the meat. I had the beef tips & risotto. I specifically asked for the beef to be rare to medium rare. When I got my order, the beef was well done! I was told they cook the meat to medium & then warm it up. How can they expect to turn medium into rare by warming it up? Everything else was delicious.
Gorgeous setting on the porch, but bugs drove us nuts when our entrees arrived.
Spicy Pepper Crab soup was overly spiced. Took my breath away when I tried it. Dinner arrived 10 minutes after the soup was delivered. My wife’s carbonara pasta was loaded with red pepper flakes. She could only eat 1/2 of the meal because of the heat. My beef tips, mushroom ragout, risotto and grilled carrots were a very good dinner. The waitress was very apologetic about the soup. Asked for someone to come out and talk with us. Nobody came out, we left
Extremely dissatisfied with our dinner experience. We arrived at 8pm. the restaurant was not busy. We ordered drinks, and then ordered our dinner when we received the drinks. After a long wait, our waiter came to our table and informed us that the chef was not "satisfied" with the filet he had cooked, and was cooking another one. We waited ANOTHER extended period of time. Finally, our food arrived. My husband's top loin steak was stone cold, and both of our broccolini sides were cold. My filet was good. We informed our waiter about our concerns, and he retrieved his manager, Kate. Kate came to our table and asked rudely, "What do you want me to do about it?" My husband asked to replace the cold steak with a filet. She did not offer to replace my cold broccolini. She left to order the filet. We waited again! 30 minutes later, my husband had to get up to find our waiter, as there had been no follow up from him or manager regarding status of this 2nd steak. We asked for the manager. Kate (manager) came over to our table. She said, "Will says you are unhappy". We asked why it took over 30 minutes to cook a filet. She was defensive, and said, "Well!" It's almost done." We informed her that we did not wish to wait any longer and asked for our bill. I tried to ask her a question, and she stormed away. She never acknowledged that our concerns were legitimate, (slow service, cold food, long wait). She did not apologize. Her behavior was disrespectful towards us. We were not billed for my husband's entrée, and were comped for one drink. Our waiter was friendly, but not attentive to our needs throughout the evening. After reading many of the reviews of this restaurant, I felt a need to write this review, as there is a common thread here. Poor service, Slow service, and Cold food! Wondering if Owner/Management reads these reviews. It seems that managers/wait staff/chefs need additional training. Not interested in returning to this restaurant.
Cindy, we are upset to hear about your experience and the way it is handled and we apologize. We look into all the reviews and are working on solving these issues.
It was noisy... and this may seem like a strange observation but the lights were to bright... but we like it and will definitely go back..
Tillie, thanks for your review, we will look into your comments and do our best to better our atmosphere.
There were six in our party including a couple from out of town. I’m embarrassed that I took our guests to this restaurant, I should have known better having been here before. Food always takes too long, we sat for over over an hour waiting for our meals to be served. When it finally was served, my beef tips, roast carrots and risotto was stone cold, not lukewarm..... cold. I sent it back and when my plate returned it was barely better. I didn’t eat it. Several others ordered salads with chicken and one guest actually said she counted four small cubes of chicken in the entire salad. Never going back!
Jeff, we are sorry to hear this is the experience you had. We take your review seriously and are doing what needs to be done to fix it.
Perfect! Food was delicious and the view was breathtaking!
The view is what draws us back to this place (second visit). Though, our reservation was at 7PM and we were seated immediately outside, our food arrived around 8PM...little too long to wait for your food for an hour. Our waitress apologized for the sluggish kitchen multiple times.
Food was sub-par. My wife had salmon, it was over-cooked, very dry (hard to mess up salmon, unless the kitchen is overwhelmed with other dishes and is overlooking the dish in the oven).
I had the Cog au Vin, it was delicious, very tender, great taste.
Overall, the service/food leaves a lot to be desired. Little disappointing.
Great meal great wait staff. Always an exceptional dining experience.
We sat outside and had a truly lovely evening. Service was terrific and food was delicious.
I realize it’s a small issue but the water they served tasted metallic. So much so that we couldn’t drink it. Also, we had to wait a while for my husbands steak; however, it was apparently because the chef decided a new steak needed to be cooked. Overall, we appreciate that they preferred to bring out a perfectly cooked steak rather than something that was cooked poorly. I would like to eat there again. There can always be an off night and don’t want to judge a restaurant on one visit. My honey-glazed pineapple chicken was delicious. Our server was very polite and apologetic for the food delay.
Christy, Thanks for sharing your feedback. We are currently looking into the water, and we apologize for the wait on the steak. We are always looking to improve. We are confident you will have a better experience when you come in for your next visit.
I will give it another try and rate my experience accordingly. I believe this first experience to be a fluke and will be much better the next time around. To be continued...
Chad, Thanks for sharing your experience with us and we apologize we didn't leave you with a good first impression. We are always looking to improve and will take your feedback and fix the necessary issues. We hope you give us another shot.
Enjoyed an excellent meal on Blue Stem's patio seating. Waitress was very helpful and there was a good selection of food options.
The view from the restaurant is lovely. The food was good and portions fine for a woman's taste. It would be helpful to have more tables that have umbrella's for customers.
Beautiful view from the outdoor patio. We didn't feel that the tables were crammed together. It was fairly intimate setting which was nice as we were celebrating our anniversary. The food and service was excellent.
The server was fantastic and I felt so badly for her as she had to return to our table four times to inform us (after ordering) that they were out of whitefish, salmon.asparagus and believe it or not BREAD. The area is loud but the view is unbeatable.
The view is spectacular, wine selection was good. The food was very mediocre. Great place to go for drinks not dinner.
I was very impressed with the updates to the menu. This is not an inexpensive place to eat, but I felt that the beef tips with risotto was well worth it. I also like the shrimp and grits. I took guests from Detroit who were amazed by the view and delighted with their meals. The carrot cake tastes like the best homemade and there was plenty to share. You need to go here, and don't wait for a special occasion.
We had a table of 4 with everyone ordering something different off the menu. All meals were excellent. The waitress was knowledgeable and friendly. The view from our window seat was nice. No complaints from our group about Blue Stem. Almost forgot the good deal on our wine!
The three of us arrived at 3:30 on Sunday. By 4:15 we were asking where our food was. It arrived at 4:35. Our waitress took our drink and food orders, and we never saw her again until we asked another waitress to check on our meals. We ended up taking the meals to-go as we had theatre tickets at 5:00. No discount or complimentary items were offered. We just had sandwiches. We had made reservations too.
Would recommend with concerns. Ordered cocktails off a menu. Waitress came back twice with different reasons as to why the cocktails couldn't be made. One reason she said was the bartender was busy and ignoring her. Drink order was then changed to a vodka gimlet and vodka/ lemonade. Waitress had to make them herself and vodka gimlet was so bitter from the lime juice it was undrinkable. She was very nice and tried her best. Food was ok but canned pineapple on a $14 salad is NOT acceptable. Burger and fries were good. Pepper jack cheese on burger was amazing. Overall enjoyed ourselves despite the hiccups. Will probably give it another try sometime.
Beautiful setting and a great waitress. We’ll be back.
10 of us enjoyed a truly outstanding dining experience. Both food and service are certainly a cut above the average. We would recommend this restaurant.
Went there on a double date, sat outside so gorgeous!! Were greeted right away and our server took amazing care of us, very attentive! The food was very good.
Entertaining friends from the Jersey Shore. They loved the food and the outside deck for drinks after dinner.
We had reservations for eight people. We ordered four burgers medium, but received them all well done. Because it took so long to get the burgers, we didn't complain. Of course, we couldn't have complained if we wanted to, as our waitress seemed to be AWL. Had to ask other servers to find her for us. The room needs some sound proofing as all the conversations in the large room carry making it difficult to hear people at the end of the table. We were going to schedule another dinner party because the venue is beautiful, but won't be doing that because of this experience.
