Blue Smoke Ratings and Reviews
The front desk tends to be odd with reservations. In times past, I had not made a reservation and they make us feel like the restaurant is full when there are many empty tables i.e. sorry you will have to sit outside, oh but wait there is a table right now step this way...
This last visit I changed the reservation time and told the front desk my last name and that I was expecting four more people to arrive, but I was early and would be sitting at the bar. The restaurant was not crowded, when the rest of my party showed up they claimed that there were no reservations under my last name at that restaurant and that maybe they were at the wrong location.... Food is great, drinks are great but it appears they either are intentionally snooty at
daughter, so wasn't happy either!
Apps come well before drinks, also a negative.
The menu had a lot of options. The prices were a bit high but considering the authenticity, it was a fair trade. We had the ribs, dry rubbed chicken, beignets, cornbread madelines, apple crisp, and fries. The food was phenomenal. After eating, I wanted to unbutton my pants. I absolutely recommend Blue Smoke. Just make sure you walk in with a fat wallet.
Date night with wife we had the pit order with all the meats and sides pork chicken and salmon were great beef rib and brisket was so so. We're a little disappointed cause menu on open table was not the menu there menu was a little limited.. overall good time and good food
I wanted to love Blue Smoke, but the only standout was the Cornbread Madeleine. The meat was fine, but nothing to rave about. I guess I expected more from the same restaurant family as the always impeccable Union Square Cafe. Also, the big, noisy space could use some cozy division.
I have been coming to blue smoke for years, and either I got snobbier, or the food is not as good as I recall. The wings were less smoky and had a white sauce on them that really detracted from the taste. The brisket was very good, and the ribs were good, yet dry. The smoked, dry rub chicken was not good. Only 1 of 5 folks at my table ate it. The food is fun, and the service is good, maybe a bit too good, as the food is clearly already prepared. The food comes out way too quick due to this pre-preparation, which results in on/off dryness.
Had lunch there and it was great. My only disappointment was that my food came out in single digit minutes. In Danny Meyer’s fast food chain Shake Shack he can’t get a burger and fries out in under 10/15 minutes, but here in a sit down restaurant he get a meal out in 5 minutes. Go figure.
Everything was good, but the food presentation and portions we're a little disappointing for the prices. I thought it would be nicer dining experience. I found the brisket to be fatty for my taste. We had a waiter in training, so that may have contributed too. But the staff attentive and we were satisfied.
Attended this restaurant on the recomendation of a local new yorker. On arrival was dissapointed that they ha run out of Brisket tht night so i had ribs which were lovely. My partern had the pulled pork. They also had only 1 bit of Key lime pie left but seeing my dissapinment they gave us 2 glasses of chanpagne and a chocolate cake on the house a well as finding me a doggy bag of Brisket the chef had found in the kitchen. So overall they made me feel so very special on my trip there that I would go back :)
Food is always good at Blue Smoke. I like to make business lunch appointments here because the food never disappoints - we always order more than we need for the table as things are a must taste! The booths are a great place to both be comfortable and have a secluded meeting space in an open restaurant.
Blue Smoke was great. I thought the atmosphere was excellent, the staff was great, and the food was good. I gave it a 4 star rating only because I felt it was a little over priced for what you get. All in all it's a great place to get together and hang out.
This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. The service at one time was outstanding and the food was off the charts. Unfortunately, the restaurant has changed. The food is OK the service is not what it used to be. The smoked chicken wings are still outstanding.
....the food was pretty good, the ac cools the hot food down a lil too much/too quick for my tastes, the lighting was 2 clicks to dim in my opinion, and as big as the place is seating could have been at least an additional 2 inches of space in between tables, the deviled eggs were too salty.
Turned into fast food place. Haven’t been in years and what a change. Used to have choice of ribs, larger menu. Now limited menu. No choice in bbq sauce.
Food came out literally 3 minutes after ordering. Clearly not cooked to order.
Food pretty mediocre. Ok for citi field but not a dinner out.
Customer service is amazing - they were very busy the night before, so didn't have any dessert items available yet. We were going to start with beingets for the table so were a little disappointed. At the end of the meal, they brought out a plate of beingets - no charge - because our waitress had told the chef we had been sad they weren't available.
Everything was DELICIOUS!
