Blue Smoke Ratings and Reviews
Went to Blue Smoke for the first time and loved it! We got a half rack of ribs, half pound of brisket, and mac and cheese. The BBQ sauce was outstanding. Only slight hiccup is that the mac and cheese was a bit bland (didn’t stop us from finishing it though!!). Great beer selection and our waiter gave us a complimentary order of corn bread Madeline’s that we were considering earlier! So amazing! I’d definitely go back
Absolutely great experience for my friend's bachelor party. The food was absolutely amazing and everything we tried was delicious.
Only feedback is that it was quite hot in the upper seating area where the reserved seating was.
Other than that, it was a wonderful dining experience that I'll be bringing my girlfriend back to enjoy with me!
There is a sign in the restaurant that says “Best Wings in Manhattan.” I’m not sure if that’s true because this is the only place in Manhattan that I’ve had wings (I’m from MA), but these were the best wings I’ve ever had! The “Alabama Sauce” (the only option they have) is so dynamic - a little sweet, a little spicy, a little smokey, a little creamy... I’ve never had anything like it. The spicy chicken sandwich was excellent too! We loved it.
Child friendly. The cookies that kids decorate with sprinkles prior to being baked is a great touch. The ribs are always good. The beignets are a new addition to the dessert menu since our last visit and should absolutely be a permanent fixture, everyone loved them. One member of our group had the gumbo and said it was very unpalatable. Another fish option on the dinner menu besides salmon would be good.
Blue Smoke provided us with some excellent barbecue on a cold winter's night. Especially delicious were the beans, the ribs, and the brisket. Though the chairs were rather hard and uncomfortable, and the corner we sat in by a large window particularly cold, we will definitely go back for the food.
We have been to Blue Smoke numerous times and always had a lovely meal. We arrived on Wednesday night, 5 minutes before our reservation time and was told the table was being set up, 20 minutes later and after asking a couple of times we finally sat down, nobody apologized for the wait. Overall the food was great as usual but very unimpressed with the front desk staff.
Three diners: one of us was four square mayor back in the day, one huge fan of the food, one a visitor back for the second time in one week. We ordered two apps, two meats, one side (drinks and dessert). All of our food came out at the same time. How are three people supposed to eat deviled eggs, cheese fries, and a basket of wings BEFORE our brisket and ribs get cold? Well, we couldn’t. Our appetizer plates were taken away with our uneaten wings still on them! After we expressed our disappointment in the uneaten wings being kidnapped, we got an unenthusiastic apology from our server (name available upon request). I wouldn’t have stayed for dessert but some people enjoy a complete meal. I had lost my appetite after my wings were confiscated.
It being the busy holiday season is not an excuse for taking my wings. We have been to this location enough times to expect attentive service. It will be quite some time before I return. When I do, stay away from my wings or I will stab you with my fork! Same review will be posted to yelp.
Yummy! This place is definitely worth trying. Food was so good. My husband and I got 1 order of the beef ribs and shared it. Flavor was excellent. It was enough for the both of us and we got 2 sides. Mac n Cheese was so good as well. For dessert we got the beignets and they were fantastic. The restaurant is family style so you can share dishes if you want. Definitely will be back to this place.
We went to Blue Smoke for my BBQ-loving husband's 40th birthday and were very excited. Man what a let down it was. The food was fine -- most of it was good, if overpriced ($13 for a small green salad is little silly). And my husband loved the brisket. But the service was awful. Everything took FOREVER. We had to ask three times for our drinks (and it wasn't very busy when we arrived and yes we had a reservation). We were brought a cookie for my toddler to decorate and they said they'd cook it and shed get it on our way out. We never saw it again. My mother in law ordered a burger rare and they told her she wasn't allowed to have it rare. She always orders it rare and has never had an issue anywhere before. Incidentally it did come rare and she said it was good. The service was just so awful. Also they made a big deal ahead of time of asking my husband's name and dietary restrictions when they heard it was his birthday and.... there was no mention of his birthday while we were there. None at all. I wouldn't have expected it but why the big to-do beforehand? Very strange. In the end, it was a mediocre expensive experience. Such a bummer on a special day. It's a LONG subway journey from us so we will not be back. Definitely sticking with Hill Country!
