The slow cooked ribs are amazing
Jazz club downstairs brilliant
The best Rips ever!!
Thank you for this amazing experience from Germany:)!
Mmm no value for what you get. Too expensive for very average food
And in NYC average is not good enough. Brisket came cold. Cornbread served half way through meal and even waiter seemed unenthusiastic when describing desserts. Banana pudding was tiny and tasted like cafeteria food. Will 100 percent not be back.
This restaurant came highly recommended from a friend and it was disappointing. The only good thing was the staff. Very limited actual barbecue selection and the night I was there they were out of pork...not sure how that happens. So I chose the skillet Mac-n-cheese topped with barbecue chicken. The macaroni tasted like box macaroni and cheese topped with hard and dry chicken.
Great spot! Staff was super friendly and helpful. We had a show to get to so they made note of that and got us out on time. The food was amazing. The Alabama smoked chicken wings were so damn good. Ribs were delicious. Nothing was over-sauced. Whiskey offerings were to die for!
Other than the fact they were out of baby back ribs - their signature dish - at 8:00 on a Saturday night, the food was good. Particularly liked the bbq brisket and coleslaw.
Had to wait for food for over an hour(!) after ordering since they essentially run two restaurants from one kitchen... and prioritize Serving the food to their jazz music section ahead of their regular restaurant. All this, without letting diners know that their food won’t be cooked until they’re done serving the other restaurant.
Great food in a very casual environment. Family style portions that let you try a variety of dishes. Tasty BBQ and nice selection of sides to complement. Short, disappointing, and expensive wine list but I suppose their specialty lies more with bourbon and beer.
We came here for my boyfriend's birthday and I was surprised at the lackluster service. We've come here in the past, and when they called me to confirm my reservation, they asked if I was celebrating anything. I said yes, told them it was a birthday, they asked me for my boyfriend's name, and I was feeling very good about the reservation so far.
We were seated right next to the kitchen, so not a great table. Then our table was very wobbly, and they could not get it shimmed correctly, so we settled for a wobbly table. No one offered to move us.
The food took more than half an hour to get to the table. It was busy that night, but if you know we're celebrating a special occasion, at least check on us, or offer some comped easy snacks in the meantime. No one checked on us until after we finally got our food. Food itself was mixed. We ordered the half pound of pork shoulder and the half pound of brisket. Pork shoulder was dry, brisket was very tasty. We also ordered the collard greens and mac and cheese. Greens were tasty, but the mac and cheese was bland. It was ok, but nothing outstanding.
What made us laugh at the end is that they brought out a take out brownie, already wrapped in its packaging, on a plate with a little birthday candle. After such a lack-luster meal and service, it just made me laugh. It tasted fine, but just gave off such a weak impression.
I'll come back to this location, but only for happy hour at the bar, I don't think I'll get sit-down service again, does not seem worth it.
We try to visit Blue Smoke every time we are in NYC. Their food is incredible and they handle my daughter's many food allergies very well. Being from TN, I can tell you their barbecue is the real deal. However, their mac and cheese and sweet bread are my favorites! Also staff is always amazing.
Good food, good service and good ambiance. Would go back!
Always perfect!! We make a point to eat here on every trip to NYC!! Will be back soon
Have been to Blue Smoke many times over the years. It’s menu, under a departed chef, was larger and more adventurous. The food now seems mid-America generic and slightly dull. But the convivial ambience plus the restaurant’s competent comfort food produce a very pleasant experience.
Food well prepared, portions small, sides expensive and small.
$ 10 side salad sparse salad is an example.
Children’s menu good and well priced.
clean, efficient and worth it. I knew of Blue Smoke because of the Jazz Standard downstairs as they have some of the same menu as the restaurant. I figured this time lets eat dinner upstairs 1st and enjoy the show without the finger smacking goodness downstairs LOL. Seriously though, the wait staff is nice and service was very good. I'd definitely dine upstairs again.
The food was Great! The mac and cheese was my favorite and their home made bbq sauce hit the spot. My brother loved the ribs and couldn't get enough of the home made bbq sauce either. The ambiance was awesome as well, great for any occasion.
Great food, great service, and I will definitely be coming back to try new options. Cornbread and brisket were delicious!
Blue Smoke has been around for over a decade, and the scene hasn't changed much over that time. The food is good, but not great. Ribs are kind of middle of the road. Coleslaw is very good. Baked beans are way too soupy and not very good. Service is always excellent. Servers are very attentive and enthusiastic. Overall vibe is fun and very casual.
I had a great time the food was to die for, everything was so fresh will definitely go again
The food was good and the service was fairly quick.
Food was pretty good, service and ambiance was great
You can't beat the blue smoke experience excellent staff topped off by a great meal
Our reservation was on a Monday evening at 6:45, We started with the warm potato chips that were cold and 2 rounds of drinks which were expensive but pretty good. We finally asked why no food had been served and were informed they ran out of their top barbecue foods (brisket and beef ribs) as the comedy club downstairs shares the same kitchen and they were not prepared for the amount of food needed. I have a hard time with this as this is nothing new for them, how does a barbecue joint run out of ribs and brisket early in the evening! The manager was apologetic however the waiter who started off being charming became extremely rude. We had food we didn’t order and left quickly afterwards to find another place for desert . Too bad, as a year ago we enjoyed lower prices, good food and good service, it’s sad when a favorite place goes downhill.
Amazing food in a really unique spacious restaurant! Everything was suberb, especially the brisket & biscuits. Highly recommend!
Only half the menu was available (no pork!)- this was not communicated on the phone when confirming the reservation earlier in the day. Service was inconsistent. Food was good but small portions - overpriced and given the failings in other areas not worth the money.
They were out of several foods that seemed to be non-negotiable menu items when thinking of going to Blue Smoke. They were out of chicken wings, brisket, bbq chicken, large ribs, cole slaw and for dessert no donuts. Seems like a lot of items to be out of at 9pm on a Saturday night. Very disappointed. Will not return for awhile. Super bowl or not, there is no excuse to essentially abandon the main restaurant menu in favor of fulfilling some super bowl parties.
Love this place! I only wish there were more options for veggies.
Amazing. The bbq was perfect and the wings are the best around.
Blue Smoke never disappoints. Chicken-fried BBQ smoked ribs (occasional special) were outstanding and the brisket burnt ends were equally fantastic. Wait staff was helpful, responsive, professional and friendly. I will return (and return).
Love since they switched Blue Smoke to family style serving. Their allergy friendly menus are super helpful and the servers are pretty knowledgeable as well.
