Blue Point has been one of my favorite restaurants for many years. The service, food and ambiance are always excellent. My only complaint is that the wines have become ridiculously priced. The average bottle costs around $90.00.

Blue Point is a great place to go for fresh seafood in the Gaslamp. Sit outside if you enjoy people watching like my wife does. The Poke appetizer was exceptional and large enough to share. My Seared ahi and lemon pepper shrimp was also very good, although the shrimp should have been one size larger. The ceviche was the only poor dish, with very little taste. Nice specialty drinks, but not a large or great selection of wines by the glass.

We went to blue point after seeing a matinee. It was a warm January night so the 6 of us ate outside. Food was amazing, we loved our server, Chris! He was a lot of fun. Will def go back!

If the server Bryan was not so nice I would asked for my money back. The first martini was great the second one i was not able to drink . The salad was so bad I was not able to eat it ...I have been there before they used to have a great salad . we ordered the fish my wife after one bite she has ti cover the plate with the napkin it smells so bad . My fish was so blah i had few bites and did not finish . I used to go to Blue point for good food . I don't know what happen I regret going there ...I wasted my money in that restaurant . The server was so nice and good tried very hard . I did not make an issue for it . They are lucky they kept those server he has been there for long time

This restaurant has some good food, but it is way overpriced, and you will go away hungry. Everything is a la carte, and quantities are small. After looking over the menu, the least expensive entree being thirty-eight dollars, and most being more than that, I decided to settle for a dinner salad, so I asked if I could have their caesar salad with shrimp on top. Now I often order a dinner salad at other restaurants with chicken or shrimp on top, and the meat is almost always hot, so that is what I have come to expect and love. They brought this salad out with 4 cold grilled shrimp. The salad was not very big, and was only romaine lettuce, some flaked parmesan cheese, the shrimp and some dressing on the side. When we saw the bill, they had charged $7.00 two times for the shrimp in addition to the salad charge. When we asked our waiter why they had charged twice, he said, "Oh, they were supposed to charge $7 per shrimp! So you were only charged half of what you were supposed to be charged." So they intended to make that very unimpressive small bowl of romaine lettuce and 4 cold shrimp a $39 item! My husband had gotten a relatively small piece of salmon as an entree, which I believe was around $38. He also ordered a side salad. Our total bill was $71, and we were both still hungry when we left. This was quite a contrast to the seafood restaurant not far away (Oceanaire) where we had eaten 2 nights prior. Prices there were similarly in the 30s, 40s, or 50s, for an entree, but there the entree usually included a small accompaniment (like snowpeas or rice), and sides were a la carte, but entrees and sides were generous portions! We were so full when we left there, we could not even finish the delicious side, a generous dish of grilled brussel sprouts, my husband had ordered!! I'm afraid Blue Point Coastal Cuisine falls way below expectations for the prices!! We were also seated on the side of the restaurant by their noisy bar, so it was hard to converse.

Steak prepared perfectly. Tasty desserts. Quite a wine list, but expensive. Most wines over $125 a bottle. Good dinner experience.

The service was outstanding from the Manager stopping by our table to the various wait staff checking up on the food service, quality and anything else we needed. I like that the staff have tried out the entire menu and can speak specifically to each dish. The fish is FRESH! Serving size, perfect and the Bread, freshly baked and delicious.

Blue Point was a perfect finish to our 40th anniversary celebration week in San Diego. We were seated with an excellent view of the Saturday evening activities on the street, with the pedestrian traffic and the Christmas-lit bicycle carriages. The Chef started us a cucumber canapé that was fresh and delicious. Karen loved the Clam Chowder, accompanied by house-made sour dough bread. I had the Chef's Special of Braised Short-Ribs and Grilled Tiger Shrimp. Everything was perfectly prepared with wonderful flavors. The Short-ribs were very tender and lean. Blue Point gave us a complementary Lava Cake dessert with the house-made Amaretto ice cream that was very delicious. We also had to try the house-made sorbet selection, also excellent. The manager and our waiter were friendly and attentive for our entire evening, guaranteeing an excellent experience. This is a great restaurant for a romantic evening or a warm time with family and friends.

We loved the food. I had been there many times before. But my date had never been there. And he was very pleased which was important to me. The waiter was a little jittery but he did a great job overall. We also booked for Christmas Eve. Thank you

The sad lonely-looking grey fish in the huge, bone-decorated tank says it all about Blue Point. This used to be a great restaurant with the best location in San Diego, and fabulous food, service and management. The manager now is more like the grim reaper, who stalks around the restaurant with his hands clasped behind his back; service is slow at best; and the best dishes (e.g., swordfish, bone-in ribeye, and B/W souffle) are no longer on the menu. The dishes we (reluctantly) tried this time were neither good nor worth anywhere near the price. Restaurant all but forgot that we had informed them it was a very special occasion dinner, until we had waited 10 minutes for our check and were ready to leave. The 3% surcharge add on is nothing more than an insult. We made the right decision over a year ago with a similarly disappointing experience at this restaurant; this time we won't go back until we see a sign advertising "under new management" and "new menu." Blue Point is a sad, sad excuse for a restaurant in the most vibrant part of the Gas Lamp.

We had a wonderful dining experience at Blue Point. The food was excellent , the Scottish Salmon was as good as I had in Scotland! I was especially happy to get my favorite local ale, Karl Strauss Red Trolley.

Awful food experience. All of our food was mediocre (at best) and expensive. To top it off, I became extremely ill after eating here. I suspect that their market "swordfish" was actually Escolar or a similar substitute fish. I'll let you Google what happens after a meal of Escolar.

The food is good, the service equally so & they have inside/outside dining. They have $1 oysters during happy hour but the drinks & food during happy hour & off the regular menu are more pricey than other restaurants & happy hours. Plus they tack on an additional 3% on your bill to pay their staff.

Nice ambience, great food and prepared very nicely; plating very cool; the only downside was the size of the table. If you’re sitting in a booth with 4 people you do not have enough space for all the plates and that becomes very tricky. Would recommend and will be back

Horrible service as the waiter had 3 large tables as a big party so our table was the least of her concern! 1 dish was cold, bill was wrong- 4 additional items were incorrectly placed on our bill from the large party, waitress knew nothing about the menu and made us feel like we were annoying her with any questions. While she made the bill correct, considering the above circumstances, I would expect the Manager get involved or at comped something off our bill. I had higher expectations for a restaraunt of this caliber and cost! Food was great, but the service was beyond poor. I would not recommend it to anyone and will not be returning after such an unprofessional environment and service.

Went with old friends I hadn't seen in a long time. Perfect setting, quiet, the waiter Ryan was mindful of our conversations yet was very attentive. There during Restaurant week. Even with multiple drinks per person, 4 people and 20% tip we got out of there for less than 90 dollars a person. All said, great experience! When we left the restaurant (Sat nite) the street was packed with people and vibrant!

Amazing!! I was underdressed and they seated me right away anyways. (I had on jeans and a sweatshirt, this is a business casual to formal type of place) The service was incredible (Ryan was my server). And the food melted in my mouth! I am from Texas so I had the surf and turf, but it had a much more cleaver name, and they cooked my filet perfectly and the seafood was just amazing! Highly recommend this place for a special occasion it was beautiful.

Food was average, service was awful. Server left us alone and never stopped by the table once food was brought to table. Another server cleared table after sitting with empty plates for almost an hour. Finally, the original server showed up with bill about another 15 minutes after plates were cleared. Totally neglected our presents and needs.
