Lovely servers, excellent and innovative food. Two bummers: some food was too spicy for me, and I feel that the menu could have described it more accurately; and second, the place was very very loud. One of my friends had to put earplugs in, and then could not hear conversation.

Blue Plate has been one our favorite gems for creative dining. We have been eating there for twenty years! We love the small plates and usually order 4-5 of them. The small plates are so delicious and creative that, in twenty years, we have never ordered an entre! There is always a variety of fish, lamb, veggie dishes! Shhhh! Don’t tell anyone’s! This place is wonderfully! And a fabulous wait staff and hostess.

The food and wine was amazing along with the service. It was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Two couples dined and we all ordered different meals and appetizers and desserts. We all shared a bite of everything and we couldn’t pick one thing to be our favorite- everything was excellent.

The food was beyond excellent, reminded me of New Orleans. Staff was prompt and helpful. They brought us sparkling water and ensured we had enough (there was the option of flat). They offered opinion but would let us have our time to decide. The fried chicken is just incredible but all dishes were impeccable.
I would say it is a great place to come with friends.

As always, solid delivery on all fronts. As always, a bit brightly lit and quite active, so maybe not the best place for a first date (thankfully mine wasn’t), they continue to not disappoint. Thanks for being the great neighborhood gem!

This is a neighborhood gem. Food is always great. They change the menu seasonally, so vegetarians get some variety. Delicious appetizers and mains, and really creative salads. Staff is excellent.

It was a great experience dining at Blue Plate. The quality of food was obviously excellent and their service was great. The menu isn't crowded with too many options, there's a perfect blend of variety and portions. The wine list was impressive, it's actually larger than the menu! I had the Lamb and it was without a doubt the best I've had. The atmosphere is so inviting it's perfect for a date, celebrating or even just trying something different with the family. I would recommend if you visit San Francisco, Blue Plate is a must to experience!

We love Blue Plate! Last time the three of us went with our 7 years old daughter. We have ordered three appetizers, main course, side dish and two deserts. Every dish was delicious, unique and with great ingredients. And the place is has a great vibe on top of it. Blue plate never disappoints!

Blue Plate is a neighborhood gem, and has been for over 20 years. Comfortable intimate setting in a converted house, great food priced fairly, nice affordable wine list, friendly and efficient staff. a can't miss favorite for years!

Wonderful local Bernal joint. Beautiful, sunlit patio dining. Simple, non-pretentious menu with fresh, delicious ingredients. This place is our new San Francisco favorite!

Service was attentive but not intrusive. Great wine list but very limited beers on tap. Food was great...had the hanger steak. It was perfectly medium rare as ordered and just delicious tender and the horseradish and chimichurri sauce was perfect. Ambiance is charming old San Francisco Mission district. Eclectic mix of dates, families, girls night out and friends clientele is fun and makes the Blue Plate a good time for all.

Excellent experience as always in one of the neighborhood's gems

I had the soup and meatloaf, which were both incresible. The meatloaf was delicious when they first opened and that has not changed. Blue Plate has been able to sustain a high level of excellence over the years and I highly recommend it.

Good comfort food, great attentive service.
I had the pork chop which was cooked to perfection. The only downside was the brussel sprouts. There was a heavy hand of salt that wasn’t needed.
I’ll definitely come back but will ask to hold the salt on my next visit.

We celebrated my daughter's college graduation with 9 of our family members and had a wonderful dinner at the Blue Plate. Shannon was super helpful and accommodating and the wait staff was great! Love you guys...thank you!

Very good, but not great: the steak and strawberry crumble dessert was worth the price. The pork chop was a bit dry, although the flavor was fine. Service was fine, nothing special.

San Francisco is by far the Mecca for amazing food. Blue Plate has just reached the top of my
List!
Our dinner (party of 3) was outstanding. From appetizers to everyone’s entrée, 5 stars all day!!!!
