It was quite nice atmosphere
Fantastic food, exceptional service.
The best service ever
Amazing! A special place. Great food and service. Feels like a spot that is near and dear to locals.
This is perhaps my favorite Bay Area restaurant- always welcoming from the time of entering the door, food is terrific and menu always interesting. Good if small wine list. the ambiance is chill and perfect for conversation without being formal or stuffy. In season, the patio is lovely. I hope it never changes!
We went to Blue Plate during SF Restaurant Week - the food, environment, and service were amazing! I had the smoked beet burata salad and the grilled hanger steak. I would highly recommend both! I shared a key lime pie & butterscotch pudding - they were both very rich and delicious. The key lime was very citrusy on a ginger flavored crust.
Went for restaurant week and had a great experience. The food was tasty and the portions were quite sizable. Great wine as well. I would definitely recommend trying it out.
Party of 2 for restaurant week. Bit pricey but in line with other restaurants of similar caliber in SF. The food and presentation was incredible. Beets app, steak, and key lime pie were standouts for me.
Went for restaurant week and it was delicious! Amazing gnocchi, parpadelle, fried chicken, butternut squash soup along with key lime pie and a cheap but tasty wine pairing!
One of the best places to dine in SF. Love this place. The meatloaf lured me from my vegetarian days so beware!!!! :)
Went for SF Restaurant Week and had a great time. We were early and seated promptly. We appreciated the complimentary bread at the beginning. The gnocchi was a bit salty but the butternut squash soup was delicious on a cold night. The hangar steak was chewy unfortunately but the fried chicken lived up to expectations. The key lime pie is to die for and the semifreddo was solid. It felt like we were forgotten at the end. We finished our entrees and waited 30+ minutes before being approached to order our desserts. Will come again!
Felt like we were in Mama's dining room and the menu offered the same ambiance. Deviled eggs, steak bruchetta to share , and a fried chicken entree. Delicious and a great wine selection!
Welcomed like family as we entered & exited
Fried chicken & pork were favorites
This neighborhood gem never disappoints. I brought some out of town guests here and they were thoroughly charmed. Loved the rock cod, and the delicious Brussels sprouts and macaroni and drunken goat cheese.
We ate here around 9:30 on a Thursday night. We have a thing for their deviled eggs. Creamy deliciousness. We had the eggs, some wine, salad, fried chicken and Brussels sprouts. Even though we shared everything we still had leftovers. The word must have gotten out because it was packed. There’s something about how cramped and busy the place is - that is appealing. A local favorite and for good reason.
Great service and excellent food. Chicken was awesome!
Coming here is like a warm food hug. Absolutely love the food and the staff is top notch! One of my fave SF places!
We love this restaurant and have always had great eats and a lot of fun there.
This last visit the steak came cold and had to be reheated.
And, a Sunday night, it was very noisy.
Having said all that, it was still a blast. The food was terrific and the service warm and efficient.
As I said, we love this place!
Wish they were open for lunch on weekends and we could hear the great music that I heard last time I was there Latinjazz Cal Tjader really noise
This was our second time to Blue Plate. It was excellent but not as good as the first time. It was very loud, but the restaurant had a large private party and did try to limit our exposure to that noise. Service was attentive. The bread was great. We had potato soup that was good. Entrees (fried chicken for one and pork for the other) were solid. Dessert was fabulous.
I live this place and go there as often as I can.
I had the meatloaf- it was delectable! Light and fell apart on my fork. The mashed potatoes were creamy and the light gravy was flavorful.
Our waitress had awkward timing. Perhaps it was because we were waiting for a late person in our party. I mentioned I was still deciding on wine, while others in our group ordered beer and the next thing I know she had taken my wine glass away. It happened again at the end of my meal when I was going to order a second glass of wine for after my meal. She took it away without even asking. I was a little taken aback.
I ordered the key lime pie (since apparently I wasn’t going to get wine) and it was to die for. Thick graham cracker crust, tart key lime and beautiful whipped cream on top. So glad to have had it!
Great food. Service was pretty awesome too.! Thank you
I would have rated Blue Plate 5 stars except that we didn't get seated until 9:40pm with a 9:00pm reservation, and this felt unacceptable (especially since we were famished). It seems like as a party of 3, they were hoping to seat us at one particular table, and when that table lingered, we were stuck even as other tables of four were being seated. They kept saying "any minute now", but time just elapsed. Oddly, once they finally seated us, the restaurant quickly cleared out and we were the last ones there. While they were nice about it and gave us complementary wine once we finally sat down, it felt like they should have tried harder--either placed us at a four-top, or encouraged somebody to leave already, or something. Or just told us upfront that they were not going to be able to honor the rezzie so that we could find an alternative. The food was great, but why make reservations if they end up being meaningless? I appreciate that this is a big challenge for restaurants, but you can't expect me to be happy when I'm the hungry one who is stuck waiting waiting waiting....
We have been going to Blue Plate for quite some years. It's a neighborhood favorite. The staff are nice and helpful. The food used to be very good but, on our recent visit it had slipped a little to just good. My partner's beet salad was incredible with a wonderful smoky quality and crunchy quinoa. This is one aspect of Blue Plate that has remained consistent. Their small plates are usually well-crafted and delicious. It's the large plates that I think need some attention. If the same dedication were brought to those that is evident in their small plates, this could be an outstanding restaurant again. I also had an issue with the wine. I had asked for a pinot noir and was brought what turned out to be a rather poor quality beaujolais that itself tasted like a cheap zinfandel. The waitstaff happily corrected the error, but it smacks of inattention and carelessness. Because I ended up tasting 2 wines rather than one, I think the wine list may need a bit of revision. I know it's just wine by the glass but that's what most people will drink. The wine is the money end of the deal; so get it right.
Perfect spot, food and wine top notch! Would definitely go back! Great date spot. Can’t wait to go back!
Our waiter Andrew was outstanding and made us feel so welcome. The key lime pie—recommended by him—was devoured and delicious.
first time going, recommended by a friend. all of the food was delicious, service great, and not deafening noise as is typical
Excellent, local restaurant. The food and atmosphere is wonderful. The waiter was outstanding.
blue plate is a treasure. the meatloaf and fried chicken are always perfect and the wine list is really interesting. very good people watching. i’ve been going here for 20 years; it’s the Zuni of the outer mission.
Blue Plate is my go to restaurant for true comfort. I always feel welcomed and the food and service is superb.
It was a wonderful evening overall, great food and service, really chill atmosphere and perfect location.
Consistently great food and kind staff.
We had the best waiter: witty friendly vibe.
Good food , laid back atmosphere. A go to for sure!
a long time favorite of ours. Enjoy both the specials and the regular offerings.
This place is such a wonderful place to relax over good wine, great food, excellent service.
Always amazing ❤️🖤
This place just became our favorite dinner spot in SF. The atmosphere and energy alone make it special, and the great food is an added bonus.
My experience at the Blue plate was outstanding! From the hostess at the door to the the waiter, we felt at home. They were on top of everything. Their "Fried Chicken" was moist and delicious. The butternut squash soup was excellent and the ambience was pleasant on a Friday at 6:00pm . The dessert "honey cake" was fabulous! I will definitely dine their agian.
