The Blue Plate opened in 1999 as a casual spot where friends and neighbors can enjoy the best ingredients our seasons have to offer. Owners Cory Obenour and Jeff Trenam have created a space that feels like a home, with three distinct dining rooms each appointed with the work of local artists. In the back, a lush, night-fragrant garden offers an exotic retreat from the bustle of the city. The kitchen stays committed to using the highest quality local produce and meats in classic American and rustic Mediterranean dishes. Our neighborhood "Go-To" restaurant when we want to splurge a little bit and be pampered by great food and excellent customer service. Great options for "comfort food" as well as creative plates. We are always happy when we dine there!

The food was amazing, the staff friendly and professional! Everything we ordered was fresh and beautifully presented. The food was flavorful and not overly salted as can be the case at some restaurants. The only drawback was the noise level. Overall we had a very enjoyable meal and evening. We will definitely be going back soon.

Celebrated my birthday here with a group of 12 for dinner. The staff was super friendly and helpful as everyone filtered in at different times. We were seated near the back which made for a nice spot for the whole group with only 2-4 other guests in our section. Wine was great, all the small plates and larger entree plates were delicious. We loved the homey ambiance and being able to hear each other in conversation. Couldn't have asked for a better experience!

This place is a hidden gem on the border of Mission/Bernal Heights! The location is super cute, the staff friendland the food is spectacular. Highly recommend the truffle gnocchi, farro and egg, filet mignon bruschetta, meat loaf, fried chicken and KEY LIME PIE!!!

We always love our dinners at Blue plate. We used to go before Covid and have recently order for take out. The food has remained top notch. The staff is busy but always tries to remain friendly and empathetic. The truffle gnocchi and the friend chicken are my two favorites

BP always satisfies and delights. The environment is spirited and upbeat. It can get loud. But this is offset by the helpful but casual staff and, most importantly, delicious fare. Unlike other SF restaurants that strive to wildly update or expand, Blue Plate continues to offer old favorites and some new with a consistent excellence.

Sat at the front counter this time, seems like a lot of companies had their holiday party/dinner while I was here. I always enjoy this place, good food and service, reasonably priced and portioned. A bit loud during the busy times, especially up front. I will continue coming here.

Really great fried chicken but my duck confit was dry. The fillet mignon bruschetta was good but not meant to be shared with a bigger crowd. The crispy octopus was great but overall the small plate portions were a little small. Overall the food was good but I'd only come back for the fried chicken. And more choices for the main courses would've been nice as well.

Lovely servers, excellent and innovative food. Two bummers: some food was too spicy for me, and I feel that the menu could have described it more accurately; and second, the place was very very loud. One of my friends had to put earplugs in, and then could not hear conversation.

Blue Plate has been one our favorite gems for creative dining. We have been eating there for twenty years! We love the small plates and usually order 4-5 of them. The small plates are so delicious and creative that, in twenty years, we have never ordered an entre! There is always a variety of fish, lamb, veggie dishes! Shhhh! Don’t tell anyone’s! This place is wonderfully! And a fabulous wait staff and hostess.

The food and wine was amazing along with the service. It was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Two couples dined and we all ordered different meals and appetizers and desserts. We all shared a bite of everything and we couldn’t pick one thing to be our favorite- everything was excellent.
