When we arrived a server balancing 2 or 3 plates turned without looking and ran into me, causing a plate to shatter on the floor and a flying shard of china hit my friend on her ankle and just under her eye breaking the skin. While everyone apologized and brought her ice when we were seated, no one came by to check on her during the meal and didn't even offer to buy her a drink. When she said her dinner was very hot (spicey) the hostess grabbed her plate and defensively said she would take it away, rather than apologizing and asking if they could bring her something else. Our table waiter was just OK and the entire experience was sub-par. We will not go back again.
Overall food pretty good. Salads for a meal are small and bun for burgers fall apart. Service very good,
Great service from Nico and you have to try the ribs Outstanding! Will return soon
Great happy hour, weather, service and food (in no particular order). I would love to return after mud season!!
Went to Blue Plate on a girl's trip. The food was excellent, but the staff was a bit odd. The waiter kept hovering when we were paying our bill and we felt rushed out of there. Then when we were getting our coats from the hostess she was putting my friend's coat on her and I reached for my coat since I was only going to carry it and not put it on and the hostess actually pushed me out of the way and said she would get the coat. Not sure what she was thinking by pushing me, but I found it rude and so did my three friends. Not sure if she was looking for a tip by putting my coat on for me...but pushing someone in a restaurant is definitely not getting you a tip or return customers.
We had terrible service for a special occasion. Would not recommend.
All of us enjoyed our meals! Waiter fairly attentive.
We will return!
You know you have a great restaurant when the staff loves the food as much as the diners! We had a fabulous waiter aka Jack Black who knew as much about the menu as how to make guests happy. The menu is eclectic and varied. Our group ordered mussels, Brussels and calamari for our apps...they were all delicious and great to share among our group of 5. For entrees, we had the pasta alla vodka, the sole, fish and chips, Mediterranean skewer plate and the zucchini curry...all were amazing. The atmosphere is casual, small and relaxed. No need to dress up in your furs and diamonds here. We couldn’t find a complaint in anything and will definitely come back another time.
Thank you, Blue Plate, for a great evening!
After a long day of skiing our party of 6 were hungry so we sampled quite a few menu choices and were very pleased. The steak was excellent! Our only suggestion is to bring the wine prices lower as 3 1/2 to 4 times retail is much too expensive for an everyday type of restaurant.
Great evening. Everything was delicious.
We ordered several appetizers and we were disappointed with some of our choices. The green bean dish was unrecognizable. The beans it self looked like they were scraped off the bottom of a soup pot, brown looking and limp and the sauce was too much. The hummus was a bit better. The tempura shrimp was even better and the grape leafs we tiny tiny. Maybe ....it was just an off night.
It was my husband’s St Patrick’s Day birthday. We had such a great time at Blue Plate! First, we had drinks at the bar. The bartender and the entire staff were so nice and fun. We had the beet dip, which was to die for!! Then we sat down to dinner, which was also fabulous. I had schnitzel and my husband had corned beef and cabbage.
We have gone to this restaurant every time we’ve gone to Beaver Creek and we never regret it. Highly recommend!!
Yummy steak and wine
Great service and yummy food!
As usual the food and service were exceptional, and I think it’s one of the best values in Vail Valley. My only complaint is that they keep pushing various wines from Caymus vineyards, the most overrated swill I have ever tried to drink. On our last visit our waiter practically begged us to try the Red Schooner Malbec from Caymus. The wine was OK at best, and overpriced for a midrange Malbec.
Wonderful experience with out-of-town friends. Elli always provides a memorable experience and the food is awesome.
Food is amazing service friendly and very accommodating. What a fun and delicious meal.
Great service. We always live the German schnitzel special, but the small plate menu was excellent. We especial enjoyed the beet flat bread dish!
Didn't get seated for another 30 minutes past the reservation time. Service was slow as well.
Table was good. Packed house, glad we had a reservation. It was full because they have excellent food at a manageable price. Would dine there again. Yummy
Blue Plate is a small, comfortable space to enjoy a creative, well prepared, German influenced meal. There were six of us including a 12 yo and a 16yo. All of us enjoyed our meal which is a difficult feat. We started with a few small plates including calamari, pork cracklin' and elk terrine. The calamari was good, and the elk outstanding. I was less thrilled by the pork but the last time I had it I was in New Orleans so I'm probably spoiled. There was a good variety to choose from so my steak loving daughter got a lovely fillet while I enjoyed perfectly cooked sole. The space was a little loud so those who are hard of hearing may have some difficulty if at a larger table and they are trying to talk to someone on the other side. Parking was a bit challenging so plan to go a little early to find a space.
This is a pretty bad place. Food is pretty bad, both in quality and quantify. Completely over priced. I could get better food in a local diner. Service is slow. It is in a ski town, they charge you because they can. Total bomb!
Server was a riot, very engaging and attentive. The veal schnitzel was delicious, best I’ve ever had. My wife’s chicken rigatoni was pretty blah. Convenient and fairly priced compared with Hyatt restaurants.
First, food was a 4+. Meatloaf was phenomenal ; Zucchini noodles were unique and delicious (despite the $9 up charge to add 3 small shrimps). Hostess was fun and pleasant; server was a problem.
The server was aggressive, short, and arrogant. My husband requested a specific drink, but the server tried to talk him into something similar. That was annoying, but okay. The server said that he ended up making it himself when the bartender wasn't sure what it was (bourbon collins?).
Once dinner was served, the server hovered like a droid. It was very obvious (there was only one other table full in our part of the restaurant). It was like he was bored, but literally just stood over my shoulder a couple of times.
I ordered a beer, had about 1/8 of the glass left and ordered another. He quickly brought another bottle by and actually asked me to please finish what I had in the first glass (???). So, I chugged what was left over as he set my 2nd beer down. Really??? LOL
We ordered dessert, and he offered "a-la-mode" on what ended up being a small, but delicious chocolate cake. When my partner declined, he looked put out. We didn't feel bad, after the shrimp upgrade, however.
He then brought the check before he even brought the cake, stating 'no hurry, but whenever you are ready'--I would expect a violation of Restaurant 101, but it prevented me from ordering another drink.
Overall, the food was good and I think we just got stuck with a bad server who made us feel very uncomfortable. The whole approach that he took to service will make us not desiring to return again. So, 4 stars for food, -1 star for service.
Great food and service. Loved the Greek salad and meatloaf. The popovers for dessert are awesome.
The food was Ok. The wait staff was not. Poor attention to detail, slow to respond, and a lack of enthusiasm would generally describe the service received. The restaurant was not busy so lack of time is no excuse. I would say it was lack of knowledge (how to be a good waiter) or lack of desire (didn’t care).
Blue Plate is a good place for casual dining, with a nice assortment of comfort food entrees. The wine and beer selections are good for a low key meal.
Good food. Poor service and manager didn't appear to care.
Blue Plate was perfect. Top notch food and great service -without busting the wallet.
This German inspired restaurant in Avon near the Westin resort was just the ticket for a last minute reservation after a busy day of skiing Beaver Creek. Interesting and eclectic menu with something for most tastes including kids. The deconstructed apple strudel was the best dessert we had all week. Definitely would return.
We always enjoy going here. Good food and good service.
Great service. Four people, only one happy with meal (Sole fish). Two zucchini curry dishes, neither of us happy. No flavor and mostly peas. Clam chowder just okay lacking in clam flavor, mostly cream and butter. Calamari was enjoyed. Liked them better when they were in their smaller space.
Great find. Not over priced. Highly recommend to try
Food was good. Service was poor, not just inattentive but rude. We have been coming to BC for four years in a row and this restaurant has always been a reasonably good experience. We have always come back. This was a poor experience. We have another reservation scheduled here for this trip and may cancel it.
We always enjoy coming here. We never leave unhappy. Keep it up.
We come to BC every year the week before Xmas and make a point to visit Blue Plate. The food is always great and the atmosphere is very relaxed. We like their menu, which is not fancy but still creative. We dined there this Saturday and were very pleased with both the food and the service.
We celebrated our anniversary here. The chef's version of onion soup was very tasty. The linguine Bolognese was excellent. We definitely will return.
Some like it hot. We were initially served fresh baked rolls, they were to hot to handle. I had to wait for it to cool down before i could eat it. My veal, prepared properly, was again to got to eat when it was served. A very nice meal. The service was mediocre, I had to request refills.
ABSOLUTELY the best tasting homemade sour dough rolls you have ever put in your mouth.
Great and attentive service. Meal was very good except the clam chowder has a bit of sand in it. Calamari was outstanding. Room ambiance could have been better. We all didn't like the paintings with price tags hanging on the wall. Would go back again and maybe sit in the other room or the bar.
