Blue Plate Ratings and Reviews
Some like it hot. We were initially served fresh baked rolls, they were to hot to handle. I had to wait for it to cool down before i could eat it. My veal, prepared properly, was again to got to eat when it was served. A very nice meal. The service was mediocre, I had to request refills.
Great and attentive service. Meal was very good except the clam chowder has a bit of sand in it. Calamari was outstanding. Room ambiance could have been better. We all didn't like the paintings with price tags hanging on the wall. Would go back again and maybe sit in the other room or the bar.
This was a revisit to the Avon area and we discovered this place last year and had fond memories. The place didn't disappoint the second visit. We had the mussels and they were very good and couldn't not get the Schnitzel . I had the veal and hubby had the pork and it was as buttery and lemony as I remember. A must try if you're in the area. Our waiter Josh was great too!
We used to frequent this restaurant and really enjoyed it, but the menu has changed and the food has become overly complicated. It's a great spot to eat outside and the staff is great, but our meals were not nearly as good as they have been in the past. The menu does seem to change frequently so maybe the next change will be better.
We dined with a group of friends ranging in age from 5 to 50. Everyone was happy with their food. Good service and interesting tasty food options. One of our "go to" places when visiting the valley. Nice outdoor bar and patio as well. One of only a few reasonably priced high quality dining options in the Vail area.
Very disappointing. It was our first night in the area and wanted something special. We waited 20-30 minutes for a drink. The wine was less than satisfactory. 30 minutes after we ordered the food the waiter came back and said he had lost the order. Once it finally came my food tasted like a healthy choice TV dinner, not great. My friend's dinner was prepared incorrectly. The owner comp'd us a dessert and took some of the wine off the bill, but it wasn't enough. I would never go back.
I dined here tonight with my family. First, it took over an hour to get our food. Second, my step daughter is a vegetarian which is one of the reasons we chose this place. They advertise that they have vegetarian options. In fact, they only have one dish. The waitress encouraged her to try it and said just let me know if you don't like it. She did not like it. The plate was sent back. However, we were charged 50% of the plate. We thought that was strange since that is not the case at most restaurants. After a debate they removed the entire charge from the bill. Third, dessert was ordered to go and the waitress asked if I'd like the ice cream as well. I said sure just on the side. I did not realize that I was ordering ice cream in addition the cake. When I received the bill there was a $3 charge for ice cream. I mentioned to the waitress that I did not realize there was an additional charge and that I no longer wanted the ice cream. She then informed me that I would ha e to accept the ice cream and pay the charge for it. This was terrible service. After another debate they removed the charge from the bill. There were a total of 6 of us which included 2 children. Our bill was over $250. The food just was not worth it and the service again was terrible. My recommendation is to skip this place and to spend your time and money elsewhere.
When we arrived there were only 3 other tables seated - approximately 10 open. The service was extremely slow although all staff were very friendly. I ordered the burger which looked like a Wendy's party and may have been frozen as the meat kept separating In layers. The French fries were amazing. One of the other diners had a carder salad, which lacked flavor and was unimpressive. My husband enjoyed the meatloaf but it looked awful. With many other options in the Avon/Edwards area, we probably will not be going back.
Blue Plate is superb! Being in a strip mall in a ski town, it has a certain pleasant informality, but the food and the service are top-notch. Three of us went to dinner and shared tapas dishes for appetizers (delicious calamari and "fried artichokes and friends"). I had veal schnitzel (delight!), and friends loved the meatloaf (not your mother's meat loaf, believe me!) and sole. I don't think you can go wrong. The chef is first rate. The wine list is solid. And you need to end with the strudel. Mmmmm. I highly recommend the Blue Plate. If I lived in the area, I'd be back regularly.
I went with my 13 year old son. Although clearly geared toward an adult crowd with some adventuresome items (escargot and frogs legs) he loved the cheese fondue and hanger steak. The staff was spot on, made us feel comfortable and welcome. I enjoyed a pasta dish; great ingredients and flavors with enough of a twist to make it memorable but not weird. Not inexpensive, but a real bargain in the Beaver Creek/Vail neighborhood. I plan on going again.
We had been there before for lunch and dinner. So we know we can find something yummy. I wasn't to keen on the live music. Tooo hard to hear my company. It got annoying. Service was very good. Which is great Cuz otherwise I wouldn't go back if that guy is playing guitar.
