Great service and yummy food!
As usual the food and service were exceptional, and I think it’s one of the best values in Vail Valley. My only complaint is that they keep pushing various wines from Caymus vineyards, the most overrated swill I have ever tried to drink. On our last visit our waiter practically begged us to try the Red Schooner Malbec from Caymus. The wine was OK at best, and overpriced for a midrange Malbec.
Wonderful experience with out-of-town friends. Elli always provides a memorable experience and the food is awesome.
Food is amazing service friendly and very accommodating. What a fun and delicious meal.
Great service. We always live the German schnitzel special, but the small plate menu was excellent. We especial enjoyed the beet flat bread dish!
Didn't get seated for another 30 minutes past the reservation time. Service was slow as well.
Table was good. Packed house, glad we had a reservation. It was full because they have excellent food at a manageable price. Would dine there again. Yummy
Blue Plate is a small, comfortable space to enjoy a creative, well prepared, German influenced meal. There were six of us including a 12 yo and a 16yo. All of us enjoyed our meal which is a difficult feat. We started with a few small plates including calamari, pork cracklin' and elk terrine. The calamari was good, and the elk outstanding. I was less thrilled by the pork but the last time I had it I was in New Orleans so I'm probably spoiled. There was a good variety to choose from so my steak loving daughter got a lovely fillet while I enjoyed perfectly cooked sole. The space was a little loud so those who are hard of hearing may have some difficulty if at a larger table and they are trying to talk to someone on the other side. Parking was a bit challenging so plan to go a little early to find a space.
This is a pretty bad place. Food is pretty bad, both in quality and quantify. Completely over priced. I could get better food in a local diner. Service is slow. It is in a ski town, they charge you because they can. Total bomb!
Server was a riot, very engaging and attentive. The veal schnitzel was delicious, best I’ve ever had. My wife’s chicken rigatoni was pretty blah. Convenient and fairly priced compared with Hyatt restaurants.
First, food was a 4+. Meatloaf was phenomenal ; Zucchini noodles were unique and delicious (despite the $9 up charge to add 3 small shrimps). Hostess was fun and pleasant; server was a problem.
The server was aggressive, short, and arrogant. My husband requested a specific drink, but the server tried to talk him into something similar. That was annoying, but okay. The server said that he ended up making it himself when the bartender wasn't sure what it was (bourbon collins?).
Once dinner was served, the server hovered like a droid. It was very obvious (there was only one other table full in our part of the restaurant). It was like he was bored, but literally just stood over my shoulder a couple of times.
I ordered a beer, had about 1/8 of the glass left and ordered another. He quickly brought another bottle by and actually asked me to please finish what I had in the first glass (???). So, I chugged what was left over as he set my 2nd beer down. Really??? LOL
We ordered dessert, and he offered "a-la-mode" on what ended up being a small, but delicious chocolate cake. When my partner declined, he looked put out. We didn't feel bad, after the shrimp upgrade, however.
He then brought the check before he even brought the cake, stating 'no hurry, but whenever you are ready'--I would expect a violation of Restaurant 101, but it prevented me from ordering another drink.
Overall, the food was good and I think we just got stuck with a bad server who made us feel very uncomfortable. The whole approach that he took to service will make us not desiring to return again. So, 4 stars for food, -1 star for service.
Great food and service. Loved the Greek salad and meatloaf. The popovers for dessert are awesome.
The food was Ok. The wait staff was not. Poor attention to detail, slow to respond, and a lack of enthusiasm would generally describe the service received. The restaurant was not busy so lack of time is no excuse. I would say it was lack of knowledge (how to be a good waiter) or lack of desire (didn’t care).
Blue Plate is a good place for casual dining, with a nice assortment of comfort food entrees. The wine and beer selections are good for a low key meal.
Good food. Poor service and manager didn't appear to care.
Blue Plate was perfect. Top notch food and great service -without busting the wallet.
This German inspired restaurant in Avon near the Westin resort was just the ticket for a last minute reservation after a busy day of skiing Beaver Creek. Interesting and eclectic menu with something for most tastes including kids. The deconstructed apple strudel was the best dessert we had all week. Definitely would return.
We always enjoy going here. Good food and good service.
Great service. Four people, only one happy with meal (Sole fish). Two zucchini curry dishes, neither of us happy. No flavor and mostly peas. Clam chowder just okay lacking in clam flavor, mostly cream and butter. Calamari was enjoyed. Liked them better when they were in their smaller space.
Great find. Not over priced. Highly recommend to try
Food was good. Service was poor, not just inattentive but rude. We have been coming to BC for four years in a row and this restaurant has always been a reasonably good experience. We have always come back. This was a poor experience. We have another reservation scheduled here for this trip and may cancel it.
We always enjoy coming here. We never leave unhappy. Keep it up.
We come to BC every year the week before Xmas and make a point to visit Blue Plate. The food is always great and the atmosphere is very relaxed. We like their menu, which is not fancy but still creative. We dined there this Saturday and were very pleased with both the food and the service.
We celebrated our anniversary here. The chef's version of onion soup was very tasty. The linguine Bolognese was excellent. We definitely will return.
Some like it hot. We were initially served fresh baked rolls, they were to hot to handle. I had to wait for it to cool down before i could eat it. My veal, prepared properly, was again to got to eat when it was served. A very nice meal. The service was mediocre, I had to request refills.
ABSOLUTELY the best tasting homemade sour dough rolls you have ever put in your mouth.
Great and attentive service. Meal was very good except the clam chowder has a bit of sand in it. Calamari was outstanding. Room ambiance could have been better. We all didn't like the paintings with price tags hanging on the wall. Would go back again and maybe sit in the other room or the bar.
This was a revisit to the Avon area and we discovered this place last year and had fond memories. The place didn't disappoint the second visit. We had the mussels and they were very good and couldn't not get the Schnitzel . I had the veal and hubby had the pork and it was as buttery and lemony as I remember. A must try if you're in the area. Our waiter Josh was great too!
Waitress was a bit rushed and rough around the edges...loud talking from the kitchen .
Beautiful night. Dinner on patio. Food was wonderful from green bean small plate appetizer to halibut special to linguine pomodoro with shrimp! Great Caesar salad. Delicious strudel for dessert. This place always makes the meal special!
Very slow service. Later arriving guests received their drinks long before ours. The waiter was very embarrassed. My friends linguine needed to be sent back as it was overwhelmingly loaded with salt. Not good for a generally good restaurant.
Service was good. Appetizers were great;. Several in group were slightly disappointed in their entrees.
Great neighborhood restaurant where the food is always good and interesting options. I had delicious potato crusted trout
We used to frequent this restaurant and really enjoyed it, but the menu has changed and the food has become overly complicated. It's a great spot to eat outside and the staff is great, but our meals were not nearly as good as they have been in the past. The menu does seem to change frequently so maybe the next change will be better.
We dined with a group of friends ranging in age from 5 to 50. Everyone was happy with their food. Good service and interesting tasty food options. One of our "go to" places when visiting the valley. Nice outdoor bar and patio as well. One of only a few reasonably priced high quality dining options in the Vail area.
Very disappointing. It was our first night in the area and wanted something special. We waited 20-30 minutes for a drink. The wine was less than satisfactory. 30 minutes after we ordered the food the waiter came back and said he had lost the order. Once it finally came my food tasted like a healthy choice TV dinner, not great. My friend's dinner was prepared incorrectly. The owner comp'd us a dessert and took some of the wine off the bill, but it wasn't enough. I would never go back.
This was a first time visit to Blue Plate on a recent visit to Beaver Creek - Avon. Hope to visit again as it was an excellent choice. The food was very good; service staff was excellent; the ambiance good; and prices reasonable for this region.
Love Blue Plate. Will always go when in Beaver Creek.
I dined here tonight with my family. First, it took over an hour to get our food. Second, my step daughter is a vegetarian which is one of the reasons we chose this place. They advertise that they have vegetarian options. In fact, they only have one dish. The waitress encouraged her to try it and said just let me know if you don't like it. She did not like it. The plate was sent back. However, we were charged 50% of the plate. We thought that was strange since that is not the case at most restaurants. After a debate they removed the entire charge from the bill. Third, dessert was ordered to go and the waitress asked if I'd like the ice cream as well. I said sure just on the side. I did not realize that I was ordering ice cream in addition the cake. When I received the bill there was a $3 charge for ice cream. I mentioned to the waitress that I did not realize there was an additional charge and that I no longer wanted the ice cream. She then informed me that I would ha e to accept the ice cream and pay the charge for it. This was terrible service. After another debate they removed the charge from the bill. There were a total of 6 of us which included 2 children. Our bill was over $250. The food just was not worth it and the service again was terrible. My recommendation is to skip this place and to spend your time and money elsewhere.
A lot to chose from for our party of six. Artichokes and friends app was yummy as were the fresh, eggy rolls. Our entrees were consistently "Ok." Not bad but not outstanding either.
