Blue Orchid Thai
Always good food and service was delightful.
My second time to visit Blue Orchid. We ordered a few appetizers ( chicken satay, mussels, and spring rolls) to share so that by the time our entree came we were not hungry.
The service was good and we enjoyed dinner.
The Pad Thai was good, we have had better. But this was just good.
The food is always top notch at Blue Orchid. Their Yellow Curry and Pad Thai are two of my absolute favorites.
The Blue Orchid was one of the places that helped me try new food, many years ago when I was at UNL. Returning to visit over a decade later was just as delicious and nostalgic as I had hoped.
It's my favorite restaurant in Lincoln. I rave about it to anyone that will listen to me! We go for our anniversary and my Birthday. May 24th was my 40th and I was so glad to bring 6 others with me to enjoy! My only concern is that when we got there, they did not have my reservation. Maybe there is a glitch by reserving it online rather than calling?
Other than that, it was great! Oh, also they changed the way the chicken was cut in the panang. It was long big flat pieces. We much rather the sliced chunks. Thanks!
The evening started out with the host putting us at the back of the restaurant near the kitchen despite the fact that I had written in the comments in the Open Table reservation that I did not want us seated at the back due to one of the guests having hearing difficulty. Although I made a point of mentioning it to the host (unfortunately in the hearing of the other guests), he did not do anything to rectify the situation, which created an awkward situation. Throughout the evening, the noise and the swinging door from the kitchen was a distraction, and the hearing-impaired guest had serious difficulty in hearing the conversations, which was embarrassing.
However, the waitress was outstanding and the food is always good.
The food was exceptional. Reserved a table on-line, with a request for a half booth. The hostess started to take me to a table, I reminded her that we wanted a half booth. She didn't know what that was so I showed her. The manager gave us a free dessert for our anniversary.
Ehhhhhh. We stood in the lobby waiting to be seated for a while. There were 3 or 4 people who worked there just chatting. Then it took a long time to get our food. I don’t know if we’ll ever eat here again.
My Thai rolls were delicious, but the Pad Thai was lacking flavor. I used the chili paste to liven it up.
Nice venue for an evening with my wife. We will return to this place in the future.
Food was great!
My husband loves the curry dishes! I love Pad Thai and spring rolls etc.
This was the perfect place to have dinner before attending the Michael Buble' concert.
Our table was ready on time, the waitress was friendly, the service was great. We enjoy the atmosphere and the delicious food.
I will return
We had a good experience at the Blue Orchid. The atmosphere was relaxed yet felt intimate enough to carry on a conversation with people seated with you. Our food was very good and served in a timely manner.
Food was great. Restaurant was not full at all and it took an hour to get our food once we ordered.
It was wonderful!
We went to the blue orchid prior to a concert. Sat at the table for 22 minutes without a server. Then we asked for a server and she took our order and apologized. 55 minutes later, no food. We had to leave. Apparently they were short staffed but the “manager” was quite rude and short tempered. Total disappointment because we were excited to try it out. Bummer.
Good food, good service
Its ight. Good for what it is but wouldn't make it a habit.
SO good! Every time!!!! Prawn cakes appetizer-delicious!
We had a wonderful time and didn’t feel rushed through our Valentines Day date.
Knowledgeable, attentive service. Excellent food. No pressure when we stayed a while for conversation.
Beautiful restaurant with very mediocre thai food. Service was excellent. If your guests don't mind bland thai, this is the place.
Seems a rather sterile atmosphere, little privacy. Website says formal attire but wee were there before a Husker basketball game and so were other patrons.
It was New Year’s Eve and usually a busy night to eat out so I kind of get it. I called a few days before hand to see if I could make a reservation for the night. I’m a regular at Blue Orchid and I knew they had never used Open Table before, and I knew I had to call. They told me they thought they were all booked up, but I could go online to check and see if anything was left. Hmmm. So I did, and there appeared to be plenty of reservations left. I’m wondering if this was the first time Blue Orchid has ever used Open Table? Anyway, I show up for my reservation and I stand for at least 5-8 minutes at the host stand why all the hosts and hostesses run around frantically, none of them acknowledging me. I finally spoke up and said I had a reservation, but that one extra person had shown up, and would they be able to accommodate that? They acted very annoyed and didn’t say a word to me, and just left the host stand apparently to go set up—even though now it was a good 10 minutes past my reservation time after the waiting and trying to get someone’s attention. We sat down and had drinks brought to us initially, but never again. Our drinks had long been gone before we were able to get someone else’s attention to get us more. We couldn’t even get our water filled. And the restaurant was maybe half full, if that. So, there’s no way that it could have been that hard to at least keep our water glasses full. I had to ask for water refills for our table, and then when someone came around with a pitcher, she only filled about 3 out of the 9 people’s glasses at our table! I had to holler at her before she walked away to get everyone’s glasses filled. The food took a long time to come out, but at least it was as good as always. So compliments to the chef once again. Too bad their wait staff/hosts and hostesses couldn’t figure it out that night. We had plans to be somewhere and our dinner took an extra long 2.5 hours. I’ve been a fan of Blue Orchid for a long time and will be back.
Food was excellent, however on New Years Eve, which was quite busy, it appeared there wasn't enough wait staff. We had to wait to order drinks and food and again to check out.
Unimpressed. Over-priced. Lack of attention to details (e.g., I had to ask them to close the door marked employees only because of all the noise). Speaking of noise, had some type of rap music on the first 15 minutes they were open. This illustrates an inability to take the customers perspective (it is not about you, it needs to be about the customer). Food was fine, but I have had far better and authentic from Thai restaurants you can find in strip malls.
Our last few experiences at Blue Orchid were not great. The service was slow and dismissive. But this most recent visit was very nice. The service was kind and just quick enough. It was a lovely experience.
Table was ready, service was good and food was delicious!
Excellent and tasty food. A lovely dinner. Food that one can only find there here in Lincoln.
