Jared was phenomenal! Gourmet delicious food in Fort Davis! Who would imagine!!Highly highly recommend!
Great food and excellent service. Jeffrey was our server.
Enjoyed a leisurely dinner and dessert at Blue Mountain. Leisurely due to our waiter not getting our order turned in when he took it. He was open and honest about his mistake and made sure we had a great experience. Trout was exceptional, and my wife loved the crab cake salad.
Quality food, wonderful service, relaxing atmosphere.
I made a reservation for one at 7pm on a Saturday night, and l’m glad I did. I was seated inside in a comfortable booth with enough light to read my book.
I ordered an Old Fashion craft cocktail infused with local pecans, and had enough time to enjoy it before my meal arrived. The large Caesar salad with shrimp was good, however I prefer all Romain as opposed to mixed greens. The wine list was varied, more than adequate, offering most selections by the glass.
Haley recommended their homemade pound cake with warm fresh peaches dusted with confectioners sugar, WOW! And, the 10 year Tawny port was a generous pour to complete the meal.
The staff was conscientious to health and safety protocols throughout the evening and made me feel most comfortable.
Lovely place to eat or have a drink at the bar. We sat inside one night and loved it so much we returned the next night and sat outside to eat which was very peaceful and shady. The food was excellent and service to match. We had heard all about Marfa but for us Fort Davis was better and the Blue Mountain Bar & Grill is apart of that.
The tables were too close together. Not enough distancing at a time of national pandemic. There were too many people for this venue to be safe. We will not be back especially on a Friday if the owners/managers are not concerned with the safety of their clientele. The food was good, not great but good. We can easily prepare a more enjoyable meal at home without feeling as if we are in danger of catching COVID. Spicewood is doing the same thing. Not enough distancing and allowing too many people to enter a confined space. We will be eating at home and let the people who are not concerned about catching COVID infect each other.
Great food - only restaurant in Fort Davis with full bar. Do need to make reservation but it is well worth going.
Dined outside, not very crowded. Food was EXCELLENT as usual. I had the Smoke on the Mountain drink for desert and it was incredible. The views are incredible from the patio.
We ate at the Blue Mountain Bar and Grill because our hotel recommended it. It’s a bit pricey, especially for a small town in the middle of nowhere. We were seated quickly and outside which is perfect for social distancing. We both ate wedge salads which were fresh and tasty. My husband had the Gouda fries with brisket and I had the brisket street tacos. The tacos were good, but the cheese sauce on the fries acted like that faux cheese that comes in a box as soon as it cooled slightly. Over all, dinner was decent, but this is not somewhere I’d go out of my way to visit again.
My husband got the chicken fried steak; it was just ok. I got the mushroom pasta. The pasta was great, but the rosemary sauce was awful! It seemed like they just threw some rosemary in some milk and dumped it on top. The sauce was so thin, it didn’t stick to the pasta at all. All in all, a very disappointing dinner.
Calamari appetizer was very tasty, Vodka martinis were excellent, service was attentive, chocolate dessert yummy
We always eat here when visiting Fort Davis. Patio seating was very nice.
Really nice to sit outside for dinner. Awesome waitstaff!
We were pleasantly surprised upon arrival that inside dining had been re-opened!
Online reservations had indicated patio dining only.
We were promptly seated, but it did take several minutes before we were given menus - they were short-handed; "Jeff", our waiter, had at least five tables and was mixing drinks for everyone as well (patio and indoor!) - poor dude was sweating like crazy on that hot, Texas afternoon.
Our cocktails were excellent (as usual), and the appetizer of cheesy fries with shredded beef, bacon bits, and green onions was very tasty.
The wife had the stuffed bow pasta and chicken, while I had the chicken fried steak - both were delicious!
Jeff did a marvelous job considering the work load, and we reciprocated with a well-earned, generous tip! Although the menu is not nearly as sophisticated as when the restaurant was known as the "Bistro", the level of service has not changed one iota. It is excellent! Jeff, Audrey, and Jeannie were all fantastic, and the Pattersons will definitely make a return visit!
Doing a good job in their reopening. Menu's limited but good choices.
Food was very good and the service was excellent. At this time only the outdoor patio tables were being served, and everything was very clean and in good condition. Flies were a bother, but are anywhere. Servers and all the staff wore masks which was good to see.
Food was served cold. Waitress made excuses but we insisted on having hot food, even suggesting it at least be microwaved. Meal was expensive with no concession made for cold food. Disappointed in this dining experience.
My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary. The restaurant didn’t do anything special, but the food was great. I will definitely eat here again if I am in Ft Davis.
Somehow our reservation wasn’t on master schedule although written in book. They did accommodate though. Salmon was dry for all three of us. Appetizers were really good.
The service and food were wonderful. We had a reservation for 5:30. We showed up a bit early and were seated right away. Highly recommend if you find yourself in Fort Davis.
Our party of three had a good experience at the Bistro. Our food was very good. The pasta dish with shrimp was exceptional. My friends had a chicken fried steak and a cheeseburger with fries. All of us were pleased.
Food was very good. Service was excellent. Had the ribeye, well prepared and delicious!
A locals favorite with outstanding friendly service and good food!
Had a nice meal here while staying 2 nights in Fort Davis.
Great fish - loved our mountain trout and salmon dishes. Wings were good as well. We ate at 5:30 on a Saturday prior to the 7:30 star party and made it without any rush (finished dinner at 6:20). Would go again next time we’re in town
Service was excellent. Our server was very informative and guided me well as to which wine to pick. The crab cakes were delicious and the street tacos were good as well. Although the street tacos were good they were not what I expected. Very different flavor but good. I was very impressed with the service
Always a hit with our family. Friendly and attentive staff, good and often great food, and nice ambiance.
As usual Blue Mountain Bistro surpasses our expectations. Every January we come out to Big Bend and either start our trip with dinner at Blue Mountain Bistro or end with the Bistro. Every year we bring new people with us and they are always amazed at the quality and diversity of the food. We will continue our annual trek to Big Bend and our visit to your wonderful Bistro.
Love, love, loved. Great food , good service, beautiful decor. Very nice wine list.
We ate at the bar, which was quite crowded with an early crowd trying to get in a dinner before attending the Star Party at the McDonald observatory. Bartender was pulling double-duty pouring drinks and taking orders, so service was less than stellar. Food and ambiance were excellent. They could phone it in since they’re really the only nice restaurant in town, but they go above and beyond by providing excellent food with charming ambiance.
Excellent service and the best grilled trout ever!
5pm reservations, didn’t get our food till about 6:30. They seemed to be doing a triage on their orders even though it’s a very small restaurant - asking who was going to the star party (we were, and told them so). Had to bolt down a $100+ meal in five minutes to leave for the observatory (and we were still late). The kids didn’t get to finish eating, and we had to box everything up. The food definitely wasn’t worth missing an event we spent hours going out of our way home to get to. (And when we sat down it took 15+ min to get waters for the kids. They just don’t seem to have anything together.) On (the only) positive note, my husband said his bison burger and fries were really good.
Excellent service, delicious food and great atmosphere . Our waiter was attentive and prompt.
This used to be one of our very favorite restaurants. Don't know what happened, but I will NEVER eat there again. We had reservations for New Year's Eve, made a MONTH in advance. Snippy hostess sat us in the worst table in the bar, and couldn't understand why I was upset by a LARGE table of 8 drunks, literally on top of us. We ate our salads and left.
Good food. Kitchen was in the weeds so as soon we finished we were asked to leave. Lots of tables not getting entrees in a timely manner. Our check was brought before dessert.
Audrey & the staff are awesome! Have patience and chill... you’ll have a great time!
We dined on Christmas Eve. While the food and service were wonderful, we were a little disappointed in the reduced menu options. As a Christmas destination, Fort Davis is a challenge because the very few restaurants not only offer reduced menus, but the hours of operation are subject to change without notification. Unadvertised closings were not a problem with Blue Mountain Bistro, but the minimal menu prevented us from wanting to dine there more than once during our stay.
Our server, Jerrod, was outstanding. He paid attention to his tables and kept the pace appropriate.
Wonderful fillet and salad. Great atmosphere at the bar, will go back next time in the area. Wish we would have had more time there!
Jared was our waiter and he was wonderful! The food was great! Hidden Jewel in Fort Davis Texas!
